Saturday Smirks

So while we’re vacationing in Hawaii, here’s Sam ‘vacationing’ at The Daily Wag. You may remember the first time I took him there. But ever since then, he jumps up on me with his paws wrapped around my waist as if to say, “Oh gawd, please don’t leave me here in prison with these heathens.”  It makes me sad but the reality is there is no one in town now to take care of him since my daughter moved out-of-state. But then there’s the fact that this dog is a total mama’s boy.

finalWe were able to snag a couple of frames from the website video cam where you can check on your fur-kid both from the inside and outside play areas. Every time I’ve gone to check up on him, he’s either standing waaay away from the prison population most of the other dogs or right next to the attendant’s side. Is my  dog ‘snoopervising’ or is he a wallflower? Then again as a poodle could he be so narcissistically self-absorbed that he’s checking out the camera to show his best side? What is up with that dog? Most dogs would be excited to run around with their new buddy fur-iends. Not my boy. *sigh*

DSC01080Meanwhile, the Ranch uprights took a coffee plantation tour of the Greenwell Coffee Farm. Established in 1850, the Greenwell legacy has quite the fascinating history. Kona coffee is well-known all over the world and we tried to sample them all. I think I may have to ship my supply home. First day out and any spare space in the suitcase is now filled.

finalWhile I am missing Sam something fierce and it breaks my heart to see him sulking hanging around the play area at The Daily Wag, I’ve been ‘adopted‘ by my granddaughter’s new puppy, Nala who was rescued from the local HSUS. Actually it appears I’ve been anointed as the ‘family chew toy.’ O.U.C.H. But does she have the cutest face or what? And those ears!

We saw all the sweet tributes to Fozziemum’s Forrest. Blogville once again demonstrated its love and kindness for one of its own. Nice job, guys❣️ So what’s new on your end? A hui hou (till we meet again or in this case, till I post again).

Live, love, bark! <3

  1. So that answers my Facebook question as to whether you had moved. 😉 Poor little Sam, he hasn’t yet figured out how awesome it is to have playmates!

Love that little Nala, what a cutie!

  2. Well I can guarantee you that none of this Mob would be interacting either. They barely tolerate Cousin Jesse and all but Bree have had him around since he was a wee pup. If they were separated from Me they would be stuck to the human company like glue too.
Hope you are having a great time 🙂

    1. He’s now demonstrating that he’s a total sub-standard poodle by terrorizing a poor Basset Hound with non-stop humping. Argh! Today they had to start spraying him with a bottle. I’m so embarrassed.☹️ Talk about a horn-dog!

We’re happily on the Big Island with my son and his family. 😉

  3. I’ve left Kali at Camp Bow Wow a few times but just for day care. She is exactly like Sam. When I look at her on the web cams – she is off to the side or following the “camp counselors” around as if to imply her strong preference to people over strange dogs. The first couple of times she pranced in excited to see what was up. The last two times she dug her feet in and had to be coaxed in with a biscuit. I’m not sure I have the where-for-all to go away for such a long period of time but don’t tell Holly because (as much as she loves Holly and Kloe she thinks we will have a vacation one day without dogs 🙂

    1. We’ve been watching him a lot and it’s sad to see this goofy, personable dog acting so dejected. Then yesterday he started howling, then later he began following one particular dog and mounting it…over and over. I think I liked it better when he was sulking. Awk. 😁

      1. Wow. I’ve never boarded Kali overnight. I’d have a hard time if I saw her unhappy or out of sorts. Good for you for having the metal to do it because in the end Sam will be fine and Kali would be too. I’m sure after you get back home you’ll all be better for the experience. If course the dog who was mounted may have some nightmares for a while… 🙂

  4. Squeals with piggy delight. Sam looks like he is having a ball. And mom said she would love to sample the coffee too – she might even be foaming at the mouth – snorts. And we were also so impressed by the outpouring in blogville. I tell you my friend, it doesn’t matter what life throws at you – blogville is *always* here for you. Love ya and be safe in your travels. XOXO – Bacon

    1. Blogvile is beyond wonderful, so glad I finally took the leap and hit the publish button. Can’t believe I waited so long though. ☺️

We’ll be going to beaches soon and that’s where things turn magical. Woo-hoo!

      1. Squeals – beaches are magical!! Mom says she needs to feel some sands beneath her toes soon. Maybe when our secret guests get here next week we can 🙂 XOXO – Bacon
P.S. Have fun and say hello to the water for me – oinks and snorts

  5. I’d say that being a poodle, Sam is just being himself. All of the poodles I grew up with were stand-offish with dogs other than the ones they lived with, too. And it took a while for Pixie to get used to her little sister, Boo, when Mom first got her too. My poor Kissy was a bit leery of everyone and everything other than our neighbor back home, my dad, and me. It took her a while to get used to Sam and Jason, too. She eventually got over it; but admittedly, I just babied her too much. I couldn’t help myself – she was too cute.

    As for Nala, she’s precious!

  6. no room for even…FABRIC… for your friend??? Well I get the coffee needs… you know shipping is a good idea! Then you’ll be able to bring back some choc. macadamias too.
Poor Sam. Cole hates being in a group of dogs. He’s a one or two at a time kind of guy. I hope the staff lets him hang on them too. Can someone he knows go by for a visit? He’s probably doing that poodle thing where they sit around, wringing their paws, imagining the worst.
You are able to do this fabulous trip though, and deserve to get away and enjoy it.
I’m in the same boat and am just envious of your trip and Cole would be worse than Sam so there’s that. Will they hold a phone up to his ear? We do that on long business trips, call him.

  7. I don’t blame you one bit, S. They can take the dog out of the ranch, but they can’t take the ranch out of the dog. It is best to keep your distance from all those strangers. You don’t know where they’ve been… *shiver*

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake
