We recently were invited to participate in a photo shoot for the hospital’s ongoing efforts touting our group on the website. Hi there, Sam here. Because I’m one dashing looking dude, I volunteered immediately. Here’s a collage of some of the many pics the photographer took of our group. Some of us were so excited (Fergie, the American Bull Dog never stopped wagging her tail while she was visiting with the “Dogtor.”) and others were so happy to get to lay on top of with patients. Even Pepe, the party colored Standard got to met with a cute little girl in the lobby. You should be able to click on each pic for a bigger view. So, who do you reckon is the fairest one of all? Think I’ll get the call from general casting for more closeups?
All of us enjoyed showing off ourselves, and visiting with the people and staff who helped complete our stagings. A big thank you to each and every one of the dogs and their uprights who take the time to visit patients, staff and visitors at the hospital throughout the year. You guys are the best!
Have you ever seen pet therapy at work in a hospital or at a nursing home?
P.S. Sam’s mom here. Many thanks to everyone who left such sweet comments about “Elsa’s coming out” post. One week with us and she’s doing great, has gained some weight to go with her improved confidence and has taken to liking furniture.
Live, love, bark! <3
looks like a great photo shoot.
Love the photos! We participate in our local Visiting Pet Program. We do monthly visits to a nursing home and special visits to summer camps and universities and various events. Seeing the total transformation on the faces of the people we visit is such a gift. Thank you and your friends for “bringing love and leaving smiles” (that’s our motto).
Thank you for making those visits. They mean so much to people on the opposite end of the leash.
What a lovely photoshoot 😀 You look very handsome and focused in your photo 🙂 I’m glad Elsa is settling in so well
Many thanks. She is doing remarkably given her history. We’re very pawsitive about her progress in just a week. 😉
Aw that’s great to hear, can’t wait to hear more updates from her 🙂
You guys look like you’re all doing some great work! Keep it up!
Beautiful photographs, but then the subjects were also beautiful. You looked really good Sam and Elsa seems to be settling in fairly well. I think she will be a good sister for you.
Your job is so special, Sam! Look at all the smiles that you and your “co-workers” bring to folks. You’re very photogenic, by the way 😉
Sam, now we know why you do your therapy thing. You get to work with a standard poodle party girl. You devil. 😉
Handsome all of you. And pretty is as pretty does.
Beautiful pictures of you and your fur-iends at work Sam…not to mention the one of you and Elsa lounging at home! 🙂
Why thank you…yeah, I guess I’m getting used to having a
bratsister and as girls go, she’s not too bad. 😉Awww. Speechless. Glad you found Elsa!
Thank you! It’s been quite the journey.ღ
Glad you were able to participate in the photo shoot. You did such a great job! Dog therapy is the best. When my dad had open heart surgery a couple of years ago, there were some pet therapy dogs that came into the waiting room to visit with those of us who were anxiously waiting to hear about our loved ones. It was a wonderful distraction. I would love to be able to get Tippy trained as a therapy dog so I could take her with me when I visit the nursing home. I think they would love her.
Mostly they just need a calm demeanor. Many nursing homes don’t require training or certification. It makes all the difference in the world for their residents as well as the staff and visitors to be visited by a dog. 🙂
Isn’t it funny how all pets love furniture? It’s the first thing they learn after getting weaned. Oh yes, and how to smile for treats.
Once they were proud, wily and fierce…then they noticed we had furniture and tasty food and well…you know the rest of the story. 😉
Aw, Sam, of course you’re the best-looking dude in the group! But I’m partial to Goldens, too, so they’re close runners-up. 😉
Also glad to hear Elsa is enjoying life with you all!
That fella is one of the best, isn’t he gorgeous?! And so sweet too. ღ
that are beautiful photos of you Sam :o9 and I like Elsa’s pose on the sofa… like a Diva :o)
Book end royalty. So they think! 😉
You ALL look so beautiful and well-behaved, S. but of course YOU shine the brightest!
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Thanks Cupcake! We love what we’re doing so it’s easy to behave. Plus all the nurses have treats, so there’s incentive. 😉
Sam, your picture is the best! Look at that smile! How cool that you guys got to do a photoshoot. *Ear licks*
Awwww, thanks, Noodle. I was very happy escorting that patient and the cute CNA. They were both very nice to me and showered me with lots of ear scratches. What could be better? 😉
Your fur-iend,
Sam🐾
