One of my all time favorite cartoonists, authors, playwrights, and general all around wits, James Thurber is today’s quote for the 3-day challenge. I couldn’t agree more with his sentiment. Definitely these 3 will enter the pearly gates for sure, but am not as certain about me (especially that short-haired version of me-what was I thinking?!).
“If I have any beliefs about immortality, it is that certain dogs I have known will go to heaven, and very, very few persons.” — James Thurber
Do you think your pups will make it to heaven?
As part of the challenge, I was supposed to nominate 3 people (actually I was supposed to nominate 3 peeps each day but if anything, I’m all about breaking rules). Those kinds of guidelines seem almost like the proverbial chain letter where doom and gloom will come to anyone who breaks the chain and I rather despise that aspect so I’m not nominating anyone specifically but encourage you all to participate. It actually was fun to find quotes and I loved reading all your comments. So I say…give it a go!
Live, love, bark! <3
For sure go to heaven and hopefully I’m right behind.
Bilbo said he’s definitely in but he’s not so sure about Lady. He says she’d better hope God’s full of Grace that day.
He also said he’d take care of the cat problem!

I might be surprised at some of the people that I see in heaven, but not a single dog will be a surprise. I have 100% faith in that. ♥
I definitely believe all dogs go to heaven! And they wait for their moms and/or dads to join them one day.
We do too!
I was quite surprised when the pastor I work for and who did Lexi’s memorial service expressed a firm belief that all animals go to heaven. I can only hope we will all be reunited some day. Any other way seems cruel.
I am already IN heaven!

GASP!!!
Not you of course 😎
Nope….. straight to hell for me!
yet another quote that I could NOT agree with more!!
That’s a wonderful Thurber quote and it makes a great bookend with Will Roger’s famous line: “If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.” Whether heaven, the Rainbow Bridge or a Men in Black pet shop in some third dimension I sure hope to see all my dog friends once again some day.
You and me both!
As long as cats have no say over who gets past the pearly gates, I think my pooches are safe 🙂 -Ellie
Cats at the front door? Hmmm…that could be problematic for some pooches. 😉
Heaven is heavenly because we see our loved ones, and my loved ones are mostly dogs. Who’s to say human spirit is more important than other entity’s spirits including pets. My hope is to see Chelsea and Cole again and that Chelsea welcomed Cole in and showed him where all the good toys were. With working squeakers. LeeAnna
In heaven, the squeakers never die. It’s a rule. 🙂
I’m with Easy. Very very few people and lots of animals. I want to go there.
Sounds like eternal paradise to me, too!
yes… very very few persons…. I bet LOL
Definitely! Just the way I’d like it. 🙂
I hope Choppy will!
Choppy is definitely a candidate for his catitude tolerance. 😉
