Well that was an interesting few days, weather-wise! Did you survive with furnace and utilities all in tact? Wow, talk about some extreme conditions. Hope everyone made it safely through with sufficient tomato soup, grilled cheese with a warm fire for effect. While I don’t have a fireplace, we did manage to persevere. Did some online reading and came across this cartoon.Could it be any more ‘right on?’
How did you handle the weather this past weekend?
Live, love, bark! <3
We love the frigid cold and snow. Actually, this January has been disappointing as we have had a lot of warm days which we do not like around here. We want to keep cold and snow all winter long. We may be the odd ducks, but we are happy ducks.
I can never get used to cold winters in January…. But that’s because I in the Southern hemisphere and it is summer over here right now. ♨️🌞❄️ Stay warm and enjoy the snow
Thank you, we will survive. Enjoy the sunshine!
Stay inside as much as possible and keep the wood stove roaring!
No fireplace or stove here, we’ll just light up a lot of candles instead. 😉
Trying to get caught up with my blog post reading. Love the new photo under your tag line!!
Aw, thanks! I appreciate that.
That is a perfect cartoon. We are having freezing rain now and it is just going to go downhill for the rest of the week 🙁
Downhill this time of year is otherwise known as winter. *sigh* Only 68 more days. 🙂
Perfect cartoon and sums up January for me nicely. I’ll gladly take the snow, sleet, cold during the Holidays but come January 2 I’m pretty much over winter. Unfortunately that’s when it starts here!
Here too! The only good thing about January and winter is February is right behind and it’s a short month! LOL
Yup, no doubt about it, January really does suck, followed closely by February! Mind you, we don’t have it nearly as hard as you.
At least February is a short month and the misery doesn’t last so long. 😉
Yes, that is one of the best parts about February!
Oh yeeeesss!
Although our temps are warmer, the rain will.not.stop.! Sooooo ready for summer!
That makes too of us. I can’t wait to complain about it being too hot! LOL
Funny cartoon! We are expecting more snow tomorrow after the rain we had today. Ugh. That means certain ice everywhere! (whispers) We don’t mind January too much though because we have a few birthdays to celebrate which allows us to have certain days to look forward to 🙂 Stay warm!
the critters in the cottage xo
Enjoy those birthday celebrations but stay warm. 😇
Every January something freezes in my house and Friday it was the washer drain and I flooded the laundry room.
Oh no! Sorry ’bout that. Hope everything is ship-shape and dry now.
lights and heat stayed on. sunny today. no wind so even though it was cold we went for a walk. it was fun watching lily frisking in the snow. she esp. loves playing snowplow with her nose .
going to be in the 40’s this week. great for walking but i will miss how pretty everything looks in snow. spent the coldest days with reading, laundry and cups of tomato soup. hubby made chili tonight for supper.
Love watching nose-plowing in the snow. Sometimes I think my dogs are part submarine! Glad you managed to keep the lights and heat on. Nothing like everything going out and you’re stuck inside waiting for them to come back on. Time moves so slowly then!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m so glad to meet you!
Last week, winter did seem almost magical with light fluffy powder and crystal-cold air. Then, even up here at 8200′, it rained today. I don’t remember rain in January in all our time here. Now those 2+’ of snow are heavy slush. Ugh. “Monday Moanings” is a perfect title for today!
Thank you for swinging by the “Ranch.” Us ‘Front Rangers’ gotta stick together, right? 😇 Yeah, talk about weird weather, especially for January!
Funny cartoon Sam an Elsa an Lady Monika!!!
An wee have been blessed with heet an lite an no power cut offss…..
Mee tried to go fur a walkie over thee weekend butt it was even too cold fur mee!
~~head rubsss~~ Siddhartha Henry~~
I think bad weather was everywhere. Stay warm and keep smiling!
I see your new header as the sign of the time, but I don’t see the pups. My hubbie from IN calls those sandwiches cheese toasties. 🙂
That ‘beigey’ blob a few feet in front of the door is Sam, just left of the other beige blob by the front porch, a terra cotta planter. Water colors make details hard to differentiate some shapes. Elsa wouldn’t cooperate and stay while I took the picture so she had to go back inside. Little stinker. Ah…”cheese toasties,” I like that. Think I might have to make some for lunch today! LOL
Mom and I survived. I looked a lot like the dog in the cartoon – especially when Mom had to put on my pawboots for protection from the rock salt.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
Dressing for winter weather is no easy feat for pups or their peeps!
Well, living in Michigan this is just “winter.” We didn’t have any of the snow that many others are getting. We just are having sub zero temps. I think I prefer snow to that.
I wholeheartedly agree, snow is preferable to bitter cold and wind. 🙂
Oh tomato soup and grilled cheese…brings back childhood memories. Not to mention hot cocoa after shoveling!
Yup, memories that truly make a childhood special. 😉
Built a fire in the basement wood stove and took Tippy for walks to enjoy the scenery. It’s supposed to warm up – be in the 60°F’s by Thursday here. Hoping I can manage to get out of my driveway tomorrow.
All the best of luck!
It is raining today so we are melting some of the ice and snow. The gutters still have ice in them but chances are that might be gone by the end of the day.
Your Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
Stay dry, boyz!
Well, down here it wasn’t too bad. We had two night with around 10 F. [that’s with the wind chill] and two days slightly freezing, but that was all. Today it’s going to be 63. We survived fine.
Have a great week,
Pit
Good for you. Should be 60 today but VERY windy. Weird weather for January with all these yo-yo days!
January is usually when things get serious around here. NOT my favorite time of year.
Yeah, January is the coldest month of the year around here with the least amount of snow in winter. We’ll see how that turns out-so far things are super strange. 😉
Wet and wild night. Still too dark to see how things are around The Golden K but I think we’re ok. Sunrise in about 10 minutes…. Happy Monday!
VERY windy here now but the high should be 60. Such is life on the yoyo called Colorado weather! Stay safe and revel with the moisture.
We handled it just fine. The peeps wore long sleeved shirts.
And the rest of us are green with envy.
Cold cold cold. Ice. Snow. Bought the new shelves and need to air them out to outgas but it’s too cold to put them out. When it warms up it will be raining. Grrrrrr
LeeAnna
Brr, just got a case of the shivers thinking about a cold rain. I think I’d prefer a snow dump over that. Hope you stay warm while you wait to install the shelving.
Ha! So true! You have to get out there and enjoy the weather in January, lest you go crazy getting through February. We’re going snowmobiling this next weekend, and I get to test out my snowshoes as well. It promises plenty of fun!
Oooh, snowshoes! I’ve always wanted to get a pair. Sounds like a fun weekend ahead for you. Hopefully the week will be a good one prior to the fun. 😉
I am hoping it isn’t as difficult as I have been told it might be!
I rented a pair once and while it felt ‘different’ ended up not being bad. Your body settles in and gets used to the initial awkwardness fairly quickly. Good luck!
Oh, good! With our regular walks, I’m hoping that makes it a little easier.
Sounds as if you had it really really cold, stay warm and have a great week x
January is the coldest month of the year anyway and the extremes make those even more noticeable. It’s going to be in the 60’s today with very windy conditions and mostly 50’s the rest of the week. Can’t ‘wait’ for the next shoe to drop with sub-zero temps and piles of snow. {wink}
we currently have a “heat wave” the temps are back to bad spring weather… after I bought thick mittens, ice scrapers , lock de-icer, anti freeze mix and a mat for the window… I guessed it… as soon as I’m prepared for winter we get higher temps… great :o)
That’s not all bad. Our neighbor bought a snow blower a few winters ago and we never got enough snow to use it. Win-win!
One of my neighbors upgraded his snowblower recently so if things get too crazy, I’ll be gifting him with a full gas can for him. Nothing like ‘hint, hint,’ right? 😉
Warmer temps are better than a sharp stick in the eye. Enjoy it while you can. I’m betting those mittens and boots will come in handy soon enough. 🙂
Great week . Four days of a heatwave with temperatures 40c(ish) followed by three days of almost continual rain . Actually it has been raining all day today and only stopped at about 7pm and I was able to take the dogs out walking. All good though because the rain means that the rainwater catchment tank is full. Stay warm..
I’ll stay warm if you stay cool, John. 😉
Ok. Yes…I did cave on asking for space heaters since our furnace part wouldn’t be available until this week. Notwithstanding worrying about frozen pipes, 12 Degrees outside makes for a chilly bathroom experience inside! And crazy as it seems, by the end of the week we are supposed to see temps in the 60’s! Happy Monday.
