Medical Monday and Purple Day

Many thanks to all the many well wishes last week while I was recovering from my ailment. I am beginning to feel better. There is still some follow-up appointments with the doctor but I am feeling at least like a half-way participant in the human race once again. Finally. The medical staff was incredible and made themselves available 24/7. Without them, I shudder to think how I would have been able to survive.

‘Dogtors’ Sam and Elsa

Today is also Epilepsy Awareness Day, aka “Purple Day” and since we are personally touched by epilepsy, we support these efforts to increasing awareness worldwide and invite you to wear purple today. If you or your family are impacted by epilepsy, feel free to find valuation information at the Epilepsy Foundation website or at on the ‘About’ tab at PurpleDay.org website.

  1. I am so glad that you are much better and back on your feet again, The medical staff looked after you and did a good job. Benji sends his respects to your Dogtors.

  2. Glad the Drs. are performing well. 🙂
I wasn’t aware that today was Purple Day for epilepsy, but I happened to choose to wear purple today, so I guess I got the cosmic memo after all. 😉

  3. Dogtors! I love that! Somehow I missed that you were under the weather. I’m glad you are feeling better, or at least half way human, again. Hope you are completely back to your old self soon! I’m sure Sam and Elsa were of great comfort while you were ill.

  4. I just saw all the posts I had missed in the last few days. Sorry to see you have been sick. Hope you are on the mend. I am under the weather again, coughing my lungs out – beginning to think it’s the side effects of working in a hospital!

  5. YAY for feeing better. We hope the epilepsy research can find a good way to put an end to this horrible illness.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  6. Glad you’re feeling better! Not surprised, though, that your in-house medical team was pawsome! Something about our furry kids that makes them THE BEST dogtors around, anywhere! LOVE the photo of Sam and Elsa!!

  7. Glad you’re feeling better. Your Dogtors made all the difference in the world.

  8. Oh no sweet friend!!! I wear my purple for you today. Please feel better. Sending you many hogs and snout kisses. XOXO – Bacon

  9. I had a childhood friend who died of epilepsy ( or complications) in her early 20’s. Even today, this condition sends many so-called faith healers into a frenzy of laying on of hands and casting out of demons. We fear what we don’t understand. May Elsa’s be mild and few, with the wonderful care you give this beautiful girl.

    1. Thanks, Amy. Elsa isn’t the only one in my family with epileptic seizures, a couple nephews also suffer from it. It’s too bad too many misconstrue its effects in the name of fear. With today’s technology, there is less reason to succumb to fear or rely on faith healers.

        1. It can be terrifying and I often wonder what it looks like from the inside for those who suffer from this malady. When I put myself in their shoes, and move into action for them, I forget to be afraid.

    1. We are somewhat familiar with that organization. As I recall, they provide grants for seizure-response dogs and epilepsy monitors for those in need, educating the public about Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy from which Chelsea suffered. Education is key when it comes to treating epilepsy, in humans and canines.

Feel free to bark your thoughts...but no growling please.
