Many thanks to all the many well wishes last week while I was recovering from my ailment. I am beginning to feel better. There is still some follow-up appointments with the doctor but I am feeling at least like a half-way participant in the human race once again. Finally. The medical staff was incredible and made themselves available 24/7. Without them, I shudder to think how I would have been able to survive.
Today is also Epilepsy Awareness Day, aka “Purple Day” and since we are personally touched by epilepsy, we support these efforts to increasing awareness worldwide and invite you to wear purple today. Thanks, Cupcake. The human dogtor thinks a couple more weeks but we’ll know more over the next few days. In the meantime, the A-Team is going their best to keep me in good spirits.

I had a childhood friend who died of epilepsy ( or complications) in her early 20’s. Even today, this condition sends many so-called faith healers into a frenzy of laying on of hands and casting out of demons. We fear what we don’t understand. May Elsa’s be mild and few, with the wonderful care you give this beautiful girl.
Thanks, Amy. Elsa isn’t the only one in my family with epileptic seizures, a couple nephews also suffer from it. It’s too bad too many misconstrue its effects in the name of fear. With today’s technology, there is less reason to succumb to fear or rely on faith healers.

my uncle had to deal with epilepsy… and I never ever furget how scary it was for me as a kid…even when it became a part of our life later….
It can be terrifying and I often wonder what it looks like from the inside for those who suffer from this malady. When I put myself in their shoes, and move into action for them, I forget to be afraid.

We are somewhat familiar with that organization. As I recall, they provide grants for seizure-response dogs and epilepsy monitors for those in need, educating the public about Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy from which Chelsea suffered. Education is key when it comes to treating epilepsy, in humans and canines.
