Not At All Wordless Wednesday~ January 2, 2019

2019. Just the sound of it sounds promising, doesn’t it? But it’s not at all natural to type  just yet, let alone say and it will probably take a couple of week’s of practice before I scribble over 2018 on checks in favor of adding the correct year.

Happy New Year, Blogville. We at the Ranch hope you survived the ‘howlidays’ and they were full of joy. Between all the special food, drinks, and good cheer with friends and family, you just might want to hold off looking for that bathroom scale just yet (you may remember I thought of hiding mine here as a viable strategy for that fudge holiday weight gain).

Enter the period of time where making resolutions is the blueprint we often begin the new year. Welcome, resolution month. I’m not big on making resolutions preferring setting goals with a specific plan, but I do try to become more conscious about healthy living and eating. How can you not? With the arrival of bitter cold temps in the single digits with windchill over the past few days, outside exercise has been limited but here’s a strategy that might help.

Have a wonderful first week of 2019. Your slate has been wiped clean to create a whole new direction where you can go. What’s your plan? And if you make New Year’s resolutions, do they work for you? Any tips to share? Here’s to a happy, healthy 2019!

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. I am hoping 2019 is a great year for you. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your artwork.

    1. You’re too kind. Thank you. Am working on some new stuff and hope it’s decent enough. 😊

  2. No resolutions, but I do make plans. Most of mine are health related – run/walk consistently, lose more weight in 2019, and run a 10K for my 6th birthday are my big ones. Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2019!

    1. Wishing you all the best in 2019. We love your plans for this year and hope you are able to accomplish all your plans. Cheers!

  3. Happy Happy New Year………ok, you know me…”Debbie Downer” lol……..I don’t like odd number years…….lol!! But…since this is the FIRST year that I haven’t transferred the info over from my calendar to the new one, I am hoping it might just change some luck!!! I like the word “intentions” instead of “resolutions” “Resolutions” sounds much too harsh and inflexible………I like to go with the flow lately and lately that has been barely blogging and barely being on social media………… 🙂

    1. Sometimes a break from social media is the perfect remedy. May all your intentions provide much love, joy and happiness. 🥰

  4. Mom made a resolution to turn off the TV for an hour a day. It’s tougher than it sounds since the TV is NEVER off in our house when she’s home (that includes when we’re asleep). When she turned it off yesterday and today, I got nervous because I thought she was leaving me. She stayed. I guess we’ll get used to it.

    1. After binging over the holiday (because it was too dang cold outside), I know I should reduce leaving that thing on. I call it my white noise machine. Here’s hoping your mom can keep to her resolution. I’ll be rooting for her.

  5. Oh, to be a snowman, right? LOL. I also tend towards just thinking of healthier eating and trying to keep moving as opposed to a diet per se. I don’t have to think about it as much during the other seasons, since the farm keeps me active and the fresh produce keeps us healthy! This time of year is more challenging.
I try to set some goals as well but seem to be struggling with that this year. I’m sure I’ll figure it out in time though! Sometimes one day at a time is the only way I can live. 🙂

    1. You’re right, being a snowman would be so much easier this time of year. 😉 Good luck with your goals, no doubt they’ll germinate in good time.

    1. And you as well. Looking forward to hearing if there will be new puppies any time soon. 😊

  6. I’m with you. No to resolutions, yes to plans and steps to succeed…
I oh-so stupidly did step on the scale. Surely there is an error? Someone must have played with the settings? Scarf, nosh, nom nom nom… slurp…

    1. Hahaha! I know that feeling. I even thought about getting my eyes checked! Surely that figure can’t be accurate…burp… 🤣

    1. Both very admirable! We’ll try to encourage Stanley to stay away from his favorite habit.

  7. I don’t do resolutions. It’s just setting myself up to fail. I don’t like the failure part. This year my word is kindness and I’m just going to focus on that.

I did gain a bit and I still weigh myself. We did have some special meals and that’s a good thing. This Friday I’m making lasagna. Now that will add a pound or two.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week. Scritches to the pups. ♥

  8. I’m sure I was a bear in another life and can’t stop eating as long as the sun is going away. But now it is coming back…

  9. Not too enthusiastic about New Year resolutions. It seems to me that if (IF) something is really important to do, then one would not wait until some date in the future. Presuming therefore that New Year resolutions tend not to be that important (based on the individual’s perspective) … then the process would seem doomed to failure. 🙂

    1. Making a solid goal with specific steps to achieve the desired outcome seems a much better way for assure success. I understand why people make resolutions, they want to start creating magic on that new clean slate but resolutions don’t seem the best way to accomplish much beyond filling the space.
