Nature Friday ~ January 11, 2019

Nature Friday

Kudos for surviving the week and if you’re like us, you’re excitedly waiting for the weekend to begin. Welcome to today’s edition of Nature Friday where we join our fur-iends Rosy and her brothers from LLB in Our Backyard.

While the temperature outside is the warmest it will be all day at a balmy 34F with a beautiful wet snow falling here, we thought we’d share a photo of a real snow storm from a few years ago. These kinds of storms are only in my dreams these days and can only hope we ever receive that much again.

Snow storm

However you spend your weekend, we hope you enjoy it.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. Monika, it’s been interesting reading about the weather over there and how different ones feel about the snow. It’s so completely beyond my experience. Of course, compounding that it’s Summer here. It’s wet here today but the rain has stopped. Just feels like a day to stay indoors.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

    1. I do too. The current storm only provided about 3-4″ but it was a wet one. Bet it’s fabulously gorgeous at 8000 ft.

  2. Love snow, hate freezing rain! As usual, we’re getting rain. UGH. So, laundry on the agenda this weekend. Laundry, reading, and treadmill time. Maybe some nose work.

I’m with Edgar’s son, 100%, and for the exact same reasons! He and I must be kindred spirits!

    1. I’m in that same camp. You can only go down so far before you become indecent with extra sweaters for the cold days. Stay warm and dry!

  3. Staying in and watching football. We had freezing rain the other morning – ugh

    1. We get so little anymore and need it so much. We’ll happily accept your cast-offs.🥰

    1. Fingers crossed for you that some snow arrives soon. The dogs love dashing about in it. Happy weekend to you as well.

  4. I’m reading this post right now instead of being at work because of the snowstorm we’re getting! First snow day (Or snow night, I guess) I’ve ever taken in 20 years. Supposed to be 6-10 inches before it’s all over tonight, and I’d say it’s already easily halfway there…

  5. Oh, I dream of snow zoomies!!!!!! you guys are so lucky! All we gets is rain…lots and lots of rain! Okays, so we need it, butts Ma is starting to gets cranky from no sun….nobody likes a cranky Moms….stingy on the treaties! sigh.
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

    1. Oh yes, we’ve had several snow zoomies, they make for some interesting turns. Can you say crash and burn? LOL Here’s to a weekend of tasty treats, Ruby.

  6. We’re in for a (relatively) big rain with snow at around 6000 feet. 5 of next 7 days are rain. Yay!

    1. That’s probably a good thing given that federal fire fighting is on hiatus I believe. Cal Fire is probably very grateful.

  7. We’ve gotten bupkis so far and it’s kind of a bummer. We had one storm early, if you want to call it a ‘storm’- five or so inches maybe. Wow.

I was coerced into going to where the snow is for a couple days so Imma hit the slopes on Monday. It’ll be a great way to beat the Monday blahs anyway. 🙂

    1. We’ve had mostly zilch until today. Yay! Enjoy the slopes and have a great time. ⛷🏂🛷

  8. WOW!! You actually have snow! We have had NONE since November! But…I heard on the news today we may FINALLY get a storm late January. I sure hope so, our weather is strange!

  9. We’re in the midst of a snowstorm ourselves. Funny how when we’re kids, snow is the best thing ever – but as adults we can’t help dreading the white stuff no matter how beautiful it is.

    1. It’s okay…so long as you don’t have to drive it. Stay safe and warm this weekend.

  10. My oldest son loves the cold because when it’s cold you can add more clothing – but when it’s hot, there is only so much you can remove. For myself, cold I can tolerate, heat I can tolerate, I just get so grumpy with this constant, non stop wind. Mind you, I’m no orphan there…

    1. I can’t stand the wind either. I think your son is right about temps. Happy weekend!

  11. Living in Quebec, snow is a part of our winter… I actually hope! And this year has been fairly pathetic thus far…(in my neck, anyway!)

    1. It’s been dang pitiful here too. We’re at the northern tip of the Gulf Stream and have managed to miss all the storms passing through. Nothing worse than a hop-scotching Mother Nature when you live in a high mountain desert. 😁

      1. Not everyone shares our love of snow, Monika… but I will take mountains of the white stuff to brighten up the darkness over bloody rain in winter…

        1. Some people despise the cold (my son among them-no wonder he lives in Hawaii). I’m well aware of meteorological differences with folks.

    1. Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I am. It’s so beautiful outside and I love the muffled crunching noise along our morning walk.

    1. Haha! I don’t mind a little cold, not weeks of it though. The snow is so beautiful and softens the noise of the city. ❄️

    1. Heh, heh. I do like an occasional storm. Not Alaska snow, but a nice snow storm every once in a while is fine with me. Variety is the spice of life with weather. 🤣

    1. It’s so exciting that today’s storm is a wet one. Woohoo! I love these kinds of storms. Happy weekend.

  12. Beautiful picture! Hope you get it! We are wondering when we will get any! All we had is just a touch of snow, enough to make the roads slick and then disappeared the next day. Happy Weekend to you and the gang! 🙂

    1. To you as well. This is a wet snow which will help the trees that were sooo dry. Hope your weekend is filled with joy and fun.
