Monday Musings ~ January 25, 2021

Welcome to the last Monday of January and what a month it’s been. We experienced an insurrection, an impeachment, a inauguration, an anniversary, sixty plus degree sunny days with a couple of minor snow showers mixed in for variety and now know which teams will be competing in the Super Bowl. Goodness…I can’t even begin to imagine what may happen in February!

As you may recall, I don’t make resolutions at the beginning of any new year but I do focus on routine rituals when it comes to good health practices so today’s musing reminded me it’s time to schedule Norman’s wellness check this week.

Monday

Let’s hope your 20/20 hindsight is spot on (without dwelling on the past) and you and your good pet(s) are staying happy and healthy. Let’s keep smiling and have a good Monday!

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. Put me all in for KC, too. I would love for TB the QB to go the way of a certain former prez…as in a.w.a.y. 😈

                1. And his State Farm commercials are hilarious. The kid’s got game. And style. And class.

    1. Yess! A nice easy pace heading toward spring would be most welcome! Let’s hope it starts NOW‼️

    1. Thanks, Frank. He’s in good shape so anticipate no issues. As for another NFL season, it can wait as far as I’m concerned. It appears Brady will be playing forever. Much to my chagrin.😈

  1. We are hoping February brings us another Chiefs SuperBowl win, a happy birthday for our Mom, and maybe if she is lucky, a new canary. Some peace in the world and the chance for the peeps to get vaccinated would make it even more special.

    1. I’m rooting for the Chiefs. I have no problem per se toward the Bucs but despise their QB. I’ll give him credit-he definitely is an amazing athlete but the constant whining over the past 87 years…give me a break!

      1. Mew mew mew Miss Monika LadyMew iss 150% purr cent inn agreemint with you ’bout Mistur Tom an his whinin! An shee meowed to mee hee has 9 ringss iss tiem fore Mistur Patrick to get his own Supurr Bowl ring…mee likess Mistur Patrick. Hee iss so calm an kewl…a guud Q-Bee fore sure!

  3. It’s amazing what can get crammed into 25 days, isn’t it?! We’ve been fairly busy around here, too. But maybe things will start to calm down – wishful thinking? – in a few months. Make that years. Love the cartoon! As you said, it IS pretty clever! I’m sure Norman will do well on his wellness check. Ducky seems to be doing better, though she keeps licking at the front left foot from time to time. I’ll have to soak it in water and epsom salts for a few minutes later to keep the infection away. She hates it, and gets really anxious over it, but at least it keeps the foot from getting re-infected.

    1. Glad to hear Ducky is doing well. There’s something about getting a clean bill of health at the beginning of the year. Sam used to lick one of his paws frequently and I ended up putting baby socks on to keep him from doing it to the point of infection.

    1. Gah!! No wonder January was such a hot mess. And any Broncos reference seems like pouring salt in a wound. Almost as bad as Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl.

          1. We Broncos fans have been beaten down since the Peyton days. There seems no light at the end of this long tunnel. Sad to say, we are also Packers fans. The horror.

            1. Word around town is Elway has ruined the team and thus like the Peter Principle promoted his bad little self to the front office. Patton will be the GM-hopefully he’ll look for a front line. Their loss was particularly painful. Especially to TB of TB. Can’t stand that guy or Gronk.

              1. I suspect it’s still gonna be a few really lean years before the ponies are back in the game. Elway is still smarting because people liked Peyton more than him. Stick to the Toyotas, John. I’m think KC is looking pretty good as long as Mahomes is up to snuff, healthwise.

                1. Years? More like decades as long as they neglect the acquisition of a decent front line to protect their zillion QB’s. Yeah, Peyton is a much better human being.

                  1. You are such a pessimist, That’s what the recent years of defeat and demoralization have achieved at Mile High. Personally I think the Broncs will be conference contenders by 2030. Mark my words!

    1. Happy to provide a bit of a smile. Yes, here’s hoping February is far more placid and full of love.

  4. people can’t heal unless there is some accountability… neither can a country made up of people. To move on we need to know the danger won’t happen again. I love the cartoon for lots of reasons

    1. Thought the cartoon was a good one and, at least for me, a reminder to schedule those wellness appointments. 😉

  5. Lulu: “We’ve decided to categorize January as part of 2020 and wait to officially start 2021 in February.”
Charlee: “Hopefully that works out and we don’t have to extend 2020 until March!”

    1. Yeah, it seems as though 2020 had 13 months in it. Here’s hoping the revised 2021 calendar got the proper restart.🤞🏼

  6. We may have experienced the whole year in January! We don’t make resolutions either, but do look at what we would like to accomplish during the upcoming year. And we just decided to put the pups on the lectin-free diet that we have been eating since May of 2020. It’s made a difference in us, and my biggest hope is that it will eliminate Xena’s allergic responses.

  7. I imagine Norman is a perfect gent at the vets….Bunter hates going and we have even had the cartoon’ all four paws on the door frame’ situation. I have no idea what it is unless something happened to him as a pup before he came to us.

    1. No doubt all the different smells impact more sensitive dogs. Elsa is much like your Bunter. She had to be dragged in for her annual blood work earlier this month. Not even treats could convince her it was ok.

  8. Keeping ourselves healthy is a good thing and we need to do the same for our four legged family members. We were ever watchful and made sure our babies had regular vet visits.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups. ♥

    1. Thanks, Sandee, the pups appreciate the extra scritches. Here’s hoping you have a super week.

    1. Thanks. He should be fine. He’ll definitely make everyone in the office smile. He’s very well liked and always is a model of good canine citizenry.

    1. Keeping pets healthy through proactive measures makes a big difference in their long-term health. 🤞🏼

      1. Yes. Morgan is out of solitary confinement now. Still has splint on but I allow her to roam a little. It has really lifted her spirits. Just hoping she doesn’t get too overzealous!
