Monday Musings ~ May 22, 2023

Well, it looks like another Monday rolled out of bed this morning but we hope it’s good for you nonetheless. Not sure we’re quite ready for it but it’s definitely here. The skies continue to be smokey from the Alberta wildfires.

Our hearts go out to our Canadian friends; please know we’re thinking of you. Some 2500 firefighters are doing their best to keep themselves and their communities safe while battling 80 active fires. We hope you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

In the meantime, Norman and I have been having a back and forth conversation about whether he should or should not get a bath with full summer groom. Maybe all the rain has made his hair grow quicker but all of a sudden, and practically overnight I might add, he’s starting to look pretty muppet-ey. I’ve been trying to at least keep his face trimmed. Just like Elsa, the area on his backside seems to grow faster than any other part of his body. It’s almost like weeds after a rain shower that grow overnight. Who know rain could act like a ‘fur-tilizer?’

Here’s Norman’s take on the situation. I can’t disagree with him despite the daily dust rhinos becoming quite vicious in corners.

Norman

Here’s hoping your Monday is dust free and full of joy and love. Happy Monday.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. Charlee: “Ugh, wildfires! We don’t like them.”
Chaplin: “Remember that time we and Dennis ran away from that one wildfire that was coming right at us?”
Charlee: “Of course I do! Why do you think I don’t like them?”
Lulu: “Dust rhinos … I wonder if those are the things that look like they’re made of my furs that I see in the corners and up against the vent intake when Dada hasn’t vacuumed for a while.”
Oona: “How long is a while?”
Lulu: “Oh, you know. Two or three hours.”

    1. There must be a ruler that moms have to clean the cleaning machines after they’ve cleaned! LOL

    1. I could vacuum and before the cord is wrapped up, there will find more fibers magically appearing somewhere when he’s this long. I swear right now he’s like a Crissy doll!

    1. Do they even make one large enough to tackle someone Norman’s size? You’d likely end up with carpal tunnel brushing those magical fibers away. LOL

  2. We have those monstrous dust bunnies around here, too…compliments of Benji. I swear there is a cloud surrounding him everywhere he goes…and OMD, when he shakes, the feathers fly! BOL!

Those fires and all that involves sure puts a damper on the holiday there, today…Victoria Day. NO fireworks, please. We DO have our Canadian flag out today, though,

    1. Dogs with undercoats can be a housekeeper’s nightmare. But us moms would want it any other way. Happy celebrating Victoria Day.

    1. For some reason, Norman just isn’t buying my salesmanship on the virtues of a summer cut. Guess Maybe I need to take a refresher course from Dale Carnegie. 🤣

  3. I love what you said, Norman. You’re right about it too. I have a friend that says dog hair is a condiment. I agree with her.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Scritches to the pups, a smooch to Norman and a big hug to mom. ♥

    1. Condiment…I LOVE that and also totally agree. Have yourself a ‘furbulous’ Monday. Hugs and tail wags.

    1. Thanks, Colin. That state of his coat prompted me to think of a more positive way to look at it. Hope you have a swell Monday.

    1. Dogs with undercoats have even more magical fibers of joy and love, don’t they? 🥰 Here’s to a Monday filled with a double dose of those fibers of the 💙.

  4. Mew mew mew sweet Norman you emit fiburrss of Joy an Love!! Purrfection!!!
You are lookin furabuluss mee deer frend.
Those Firess inn Alberta are scarey!! THE firess even ‘jumped’ THE Hi-way an spread……
Wee glad wee 3 Provincess away! 😉
***nose bopss*** BellaDharma an (((hugss))) BellaSita Mum

    1. Thanks, sweet kitty and Mum. Those wildfires are indeed scary. That jumping the highway phenomena happened here in our state. We hope the smoke will be gone in the next day or two which will make walkies much easier.

  5. I must say he’s stinkin’ cute… but I know that game…clean will be cute too Norman and you’ll feel lots better when it’s over. Milo had toenails cut and ground yesterday, we ALL put that off but ALL relieved when it’s over

    1. When you have as much real estate as Norman does, you tend to put that project off as long as you can. I’m just surprised that it got so long practically overnight! Happy Monday.

  6. Prayers for all impacted by the fire. As for Norman needing grooming- I have to agree with him. Is it because some of his magical fibers of love and joy have infected me? Happy Monday y’all. ❤️🐾

    1. Thanks, Paulette. Don’t feel badly about Norman, he has that effect on everyone. 😍Have a terrific Monday.

    1. For some reason, he’s not buying into that. Said something about ‘propaganda.’ 😆

  7. Bwahahaha…yes, we mums must never argue with the fur logic. Happy Monday.

    1. Those magical fibers will ultimately help you make up your mind, LOL! I used to shave Jeff’s collie mix years ago for that very reason. Now I’ve got Riley, but I’ve just never had the heart to shave that beautiful red, short, it sheds everywhere hair.

        1. Sheepdogs aren’t too bad, it’s the double coat that is the problem. But as long as they stay in their corner I’m good with the dust rhinos. 🤣

            1. The cleaning up of the bathroom almost takes longer than the actual bath! 😵‍💫

            2. Now that’s a terrifying thought if there ever was one at the Ranch!

      1. Some dogs shed all year long. Other’s just shed their double coat. Either way, it’s still magical fibers of joy and love. 💙
