And she’s off…

Hi guys, it’s Elsa. I’ve been a busy girl this morning getting under foot while mom is running around putting things in a box with a handle and wheels. She keeps muttering to her self…”don’t forget to bring…” I’m not sure what’s going on but I think it’s something epic. My brother is rolling his eyes at me just as he steps in front of mom. He says we need to keep doing this because I won’t like what this means. I’m not sure if he’s on the level with me or trying to psyche me out. Brothers are kind of like that, always trying to get in your head and freak you out about something. I heard him say mom was leaving us but I don’t know what that means. I mean we are the bestest poodles in the world…how (but more importantly, WHY) is she leaving us?

Anyway, it remains to be seen what this all means but hopefully it’s nothing serious or permanent. Have a great weekend. We’ll catch you on the flip side!

Lie, love, bark 🐾

  1. Sometimes Moms just have to have a little break, even though they don’t really want to leave their furry families. We sure hope your Mom is gone somewhere fun, and left you in good hands (we’re sure she did!).

We breed Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. We are both avid hunters. We also enjoy competing with our dogs in hunt tests and field trials. That is where you can find us during the trial months which are April-September. When were not at a trial we are busy training our dogs. We go snow goose hunting in Canada each year and do all the hunting that Wisconsin offers.

I’m sure you will have fun where ever you are while she is gone and the time will fly by before you are back together. I hope she has fun too, and get to relax. When she gets back, she’ll be re-energized and ready for some outings with you and your brother.

  6. Vacation, I hope. Do they give you that “how can you abandon us” face when you leave?

Boy did they ever. Sam knows the routine all too well and begins pouting as soon as the suitcase comes out.

Of course, if you could use a hammer ( if I had a hammer, I’d – sorry got carried away there) anyway, if you could use a hammer and get some nails you could always nail the box on wheels to the floor. That would sort her out and stop her from going. But then, she has been unwell and tired and although she loves you both, perhaps she needs a break to recharge her batteries. A mom needs a bit of a break from time to time. You could always show her how much you love her by helping her to pack her box on wheels —- just a thought…

  8. My Golden Life – Upstate South Carolina – I love animals, especially dogs. I enjoy US history, and reading biographies of our former presidents and other historical figures. I love the music of the '60s and '70s since I was growing up in those decades. I love the Beatles and Andy Williams equally.
    My Golden Life says:

Aw, Elsa, don’t worry – your Mom will be back. She would move mountains to get home to you and Sam. Just as I would do to get home to Shadow and Ducky in a similar situation. She loves you both, even if she does tease you at times about running away. ❤️❤️

  9. Surely she wouldn’t leave you, right?! I love Elsa (and Sam too – but I’m trying to explain my history) … back when I pet-sat professionally, there was one black standard poodle named Sassy that just stole my heart. Her people told me she’d been abused and scared – and often tested the boundaries until she trusted you. I will never forget the night she fought off her eager Airedale brother to snuggle. She usually hung back from his exuberance – but that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship 🙂

  10. Have you told the pups where they are staying while you are gone? We’re still struggling with what to do if we EVER go on vacation again!

Be sure to tell mom that. She sometimes has her doubts.
