Monday Musings ~ September 28, 2026

Welcome to Monday. My goodness, is it just me or is September flashing by at warp speed? It just seems like it was beginning and here we are in the last days of the month. It was a lovely warm autumn weekend in the West while we watched nature’s fury on the East Coast with a major battering Nor’easter. We are keeping our East Coast friends in our thoughts. Let’s start with a clean slate for the week with this meme from our friend, Vince the Sign Guy. Seemed a good way to begin focusing on the Halloween season that’s quickly approaching.

May you enjoy a terrific Monday.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. da-AL – Happiness Between Tails speaks to and from the heart. It connects lovers — of pets, authors, books — and of my still-unreleased novels, “Flamenco + the Sitting Cat” and “Tango + the Sitting Cat.” The stories are my love letters to all who fear they're too odd, too damaged, too old, too whatever to find happiness. 2. Marsha – Hi, I'm Marsha Ingrao, a retired educator, avid blogger, and author of four books: Images of America Woodlake, Story Chat I & II - anthologies featuring bloggers around the world, and Embracing the Power to Live - a poetic memoir. My husband, although retired, still lives, breathes, and dreams remodeling and landscaping homes. We live in Visalia, California with our two pets, Moji and Goldie.
    Marsha says:

Funny sign! The pictures on the East Coast are not so funny. I think they need to build a pipeline for water to West. They’d make a fortune off their floods by selling the water to AZ and CA, and other needy states.

If only we could somehow equalize the water situation. It’s the one thing that seems the hardest to square away. Glad you enjoyed the sign. Vince is always so clever.

I know. If he could actually follow through with all the ideas he’s had during our marriage, the world would be a better place.

  3. would someone please explain how that can happen, i.e. “September is flashing by at warp speed’?
can’t yet prove it, but there is a secret accelerant built into all of our calendars… progressive, of course

looking forward to July (the next time I’ll be warm again lol

Yeah, can’t do anything about the speedy calendar, guess we just have to take it a day at a time.

Sorry you’re not feeling the temperate weather. Autumn is my favorite season because it’s generally mild. Here’s hoping it’s a great weekend for you.

And here we are in October, which is when I’m writing this comment. I’m shocked how fast it all went.

  5. BellaDharma an BellaSita Mum – On Georgian Bay..... – Welcome to THE Purrfect Pad. My name is Sherri-Ellen & my current Kitty Girl is BellaDharma a black part Siamese cat. I started blogging in August 2005 on Yahoo 360 with Mingflower my Bluepoint Siamese. Then transferred to Multiply...Mingflower went to Summerland & NYLABLUE my BluePoint Siamese/Burmese cross took over. When Multiply was closing a handful of our blogging friends recommended WordPress & we found a home here & made many new friends. Everyone followed the antics & struggles of NYLABLUE until her passing Nov. 22nd, 2014 to Summerland. A week later a little bouncing Burmese boy I met at a local adoption event joined me here! Dec. 9th, 2014. Purrince Siddhartha Henry came to live with me & regaled us with his journey towards 'Enlightenment'. He was a Burmese Buddhist with many health issues but he searched for meaning in his Life. After his lifelong struggle with Panleukopenia. Siddhartha Henry lost his battle & left for Pure Land August 28th, 2018. He was only 4 years & 1 month old. I've never totally gotten over the loss of my "Little Man". And this is where I get VERY serious. This Purrfect Pad blog is not all sunshine & roses. This blog is about REAL life with special needs cats who come into my life. We share our time together & we share the good, the bad & the ugly. This is a REAL blog. Yes we DO laugh & have fun & take Selfies! And we share each cat's struggles whether health issues or behavioural problems. And we share about my ongoing battle with 3 health conditions that can render me unable to walk plus having Cirrhosis of Liver & Seizures. We ask our friends & followers to respect that THE Purrfect Pad is anything but 'purrfect'. I am disabled & each of my cats' have had special needs. Everyone is welcome here as long as you are kind & respectful. If you have questions feel free to ask them. Sept. 6th, 2018 BellaDharma aka Baby Girl joined THE Purrfect Pad. We hope all of you will follow our life together as BellaDharma learns how to be a domesticated cat instead of a semi-feral one.... Love, Peace & Treets, Sherri-Ellen (BellaSita Mum) & BellaDharma & 'angels' Purrince Siddhartha Henry; Nylablue 'Sweet Feet' & Mingflower the Merciless & all my other cats who have shared my life with me. I’m not sure I get Halloween and unfortunately it’s becoming more popular in NZ. I do know that most elderly find it unsettling especially when kids demand more lollies.

      Tails Around the Ranch says:

It is a curious holiday that doesn’t make sense. I always thought how strange to take a pagan holiday and promote it in a Euro-christian country. As kids we were cautioned to be suspicious of strangers but during Halloween, we encourage our children to go up to stranger’s homes and ask for candy. I can see how bizarre this must seem. Personally, I think it’s a marketing ploy to benefit candy makers and companies who make decorations. Thank you for swinging by-we 💙 visitors and hope you’ll come back.

Yes, the cynical me believes these holidays are a ploy to create guilt within adulthood and have us visiting retail stores to buy up lollies, etc galore to keep the small people happy 😉

  7. Yes indeed! I recently read a book which says that on an average all of us live for 4000 weeks. That woke me up 😄 Yes, have to make the most of this precious resource called time.

Truly miss those Halloween times with my kids!

Having recently celebrated another birthday, it occurs to me that time increases in speed the older we get. I keep trying to make whatever time is left to be the most productive I can. Still…holy cow, what a sobering notion!

Glad you enjoyed our weekly smile. It struck me as the perfect one given how much Halloween decor has begun showing up, in stores and around our neighborhood. Hope you have a wonderful week, Nimi.

  12. John W. Howell – South Texas Gulf Coast – I have been working in business for over forty years and now have the time to work in special areas of interest. My passion has always been to create compelling stories of fiction. I have authored six novels and am working on my Seventh. The first novel is still in manuscript form and being utilized as a door stop in the laundry room. The second is a contemporary fiction novel of 89,000 words and is complete and I am currently seeking a publisher. I also write poetry but have not had the guts to share any with anyone. The one time I read a piece to a person their only comment was, “it doesn’t rhyme.” I will continue to write and hopefully my blog, Fiction Favorites at www.johnwhowell.com will provide some entertainment and an interesting thought or two. I live in the Austin area with my wife Molly and an assortment of loving pets.

  14. Every year around this time I am reminded how big this country is when on one side the weather is idyllic making for a beautiful fall day. On the other side there are major storms and real danger for the folks who live there.

And Vince nails it again. That guy sure knows Witch way is up! 🙃.

Meanwhile, I’ll enjoy the seasonally mild weather out here in the foothills of NorCal and keep our friends on the East Coast in my thoughts.

Oh dear…you have our condolences. Our weekend was in the mid-80’s but 60’s and 70’s for the rest of this week. We can only hope there’s a bit of moisture accompanying those wonderfully moderate temps. Happy Monday, Tom & Reiko.

We too are definitely enjoying the cooler temps and savoring what little rain our neighborhood has received. We’re hoping this week there’ll be more {paw crossed}. Have a great week!

Brooooom…..broooom….tee hee! Time seems to go by a lot faster these days – Mom says now that she’s SUPER old it’s faster than ever. Anyway, the effects from the nasty Nor’Easter are pretty much over with here. We had some cold windy rainy days but since we aren’t near the water we had no “overabundance” of wet – just helped with the drought situation we’ve had all summer. I’m about to ask Mom to take me outside for a quick visit – I heard her tell Dad it’s “nail trimming” time so I’ll try to make it more than a QUICK visit to avoid the inevitable!!

    Huggies, Teddy

The New Jersey coastline was hit hard. I’m near Philly and we did ok with a lot of rain (still raining here), some wind but no real damage. Fingers crossed for those affected.

Somehow (so far) the Montreal area has been spared from the Nor’easter! Well, there is rain today but nothing torrential.

Let’s hope the rain isn’t too bad. We have rain in our forecast for the next few days which I’ll gladly welcome if it in fact materializes. Glad you enjoyed today’s smile. We have started noticing a few of the neighbors getting into the Halloween spirit and thought well, this is timely. Happy Monday, Dale!
