~ Tails Around the Ranch

Happy Monday troops. Hope you had a great weekend. As I mentioned on Friday, our family welcomed a new great grandbaby. Kai Michael Mercer joined us Friday morning via c-section and we have been thrilled he’s adorable and beautiful at the same time after exhibiting a dangerously low heart rate. He’s fine now and learning what life outside the womb is all about. For those curious, Kai is a Hawaiian name which means ocean. It’s another homage to the parents’ love for the island where they met and lived for many years. You may recall Halia’s name means ‘in remembrance,’ so together the two kiddos honor their spiritual home.

Of course we are over the moon with this latest addition, it’s still Monday which means we start the week with a smile. Wishing you a fantastic week.

  1. Julia – I am a retired software solutions architect. I have been married to my husband, Bruce, for over forty years. We went full-time RVing for 3.5 years and saw much of the United States. After deciding to stop RVing, we bought a ranch house halfway up a hill on five acres. After Bruce and I talked about names for our five acres, we settled on Blackberry Homestead as a homage to the wild blackberries on the hill. We are working on creating our homestead. I love cooking and enjoy sharing recipes. I am also an artist, and I’ll share my current projects. Gardening and reading are my favorite hobbies.

  3. My Golden Life – Upstate South Carolina – I love animals, especially dogs. I enjoy US history, and reading biographies of our former presidents and other historical figures. I love the music of the '60s and '70s since I was growing up in those decades. I love the Beatles and Andy Williams equally.

  4. How nice to name the kids that way. Kai is one of our favorite names but we know some dogs with it already so we have never used it. FYI, our blog has been attacked for the second time in about a month. The host has taken it down and it is currently offline. We hope our IT person can fix things and get us up and running again soon. It is very sad for us that someone would attack our blog because it is fun and we enjoy it but the world not a very nice place these days. We will not be blogging this week, so don’t worry if you are not seeing our posts.

My passion has always been to create compelling stories of fiction. I have authored six novels and am working on my Seventh. The first novel is still in manuscript form and being utilized as a door stop in the laundry room. The second is a contemporary fiction novel of 89,000 words and is complete and I am currently seeking a publisher. I also write poetry but have not had the guts to share any with anyone.
