  1. Sand Spring Chesapeakes – Cambria, WI – My husband and I have six "furry" children Gambler, Glory, Guilty, Slammer, Gertie and one cat Bones and two furangel's Norman and Nellie. We breed Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. We are both avid hunters. We also enjoy competing with our dogs in hunt tests and field trials. That is where you can find us during the trial months which are April-September. When were not at a trial we are busy training our dogs. We go snow goose hunting in Canada each year and do all the hunting that Wisconsin offers.
    Sand Spring Chesapeakes says:

Haha gambler and glory are on a food strike now.

Living in the Denver metro area, we post about dogs, rescue and nature. So grab your favorite beverage and be prepared to howl along with our adventures. Maybe I should send your guys Sam’s castoffs. 🙂

  2. ruth7933 – I am retired and am full time care giver to my husband who is a disabled Nam Vet with dementia, heart disease, and is an insulin dependent diabetic. I am mother to a grown son, three grown grand children and a beautiful 7 month old great grand daughter. I live with reoccurring MS and myalgia of the lower extremities. Hobbies include being active in the local rock painting group and we hide them all over the county and give hints to where they are hid on our face book page, for other folks to find them. I am also learning how to use my iPhone 7 and iPad. My husband and I are active in 12 step programs and have been clean and sober for many years. We share our lives with a pair of love birds and a guinea pig with an attitude.

Brown kibble? I agree with Sam. Sunflower seeds any day.

Gah! Sunflower seeds make the consumer way too hyper and Sam sure doesn’t need more energy!

  4. My mom checks me for a fever if I don’t lick my bowl clean. She calls me a food-Hoover! I have to eat everything, whether I like it or not, before the cats get to it! ~ wags and woofs, Kona

Another hungry pet in the house is incentive for plate cleaning for sure. Sam will go hungry before eating on his own terms. Knuckle-headed dog. 😉

  5. tippysmom2 – I adopted a puppy in 2013 and it has been an adventure ever since. My Facebook friends love her stories, so thought I would share with others as well.
    tippysmom2 says:

hahaha Tippy usually doesn’t mind, even though there are days she seems picky. On those days, she’ll get a mouthful of food, spit it out on the floor, and then eat the softer pieces of her kibble and leave the rest for me to clean up. Sam, here’s to hoping your mom figures out that you don’t like the flat pieces and tries something else. Have a great weekend!

Oh the spitters! Know all about those guys. If food manages to get outside his bowl, Sam will never eat it. Ever. Even if I put it back in his bowl. What dog doesn’t eat crumbs from the floor?!

hahaha I guess Sam! It’s funny that she won’t eat them, even if you put it back in her bowl.

          Tails Around the Ranch says:

Exactly! When the sheep dogs were still alive, I could always count on them Hoover-ing up ANY tidbits on the floor. Apparently Sam is a snob. 😉

  6. My Golden Life – Upstate South Carolina – I love animals, especially dogs. I enjoy US history, and reading biographies of our former presidents and other historical figures. I love the music of the '60s and '70s since I was growing up in those decades. I love the Beatles and Andy Williams equally.
    My Golden Life says:

Some fur-kids are just like that. As long as Sam doesn’t give the girls people food, they’ll eat just about any dog food I give them. Of course, with their super-sensitive tummies, I pretty much have to stick with the same food all the time. Boorrriiinngg!

I have often wondered if dogs get bored with the same food. Sam used to like that brand but now he turns his nose up to it. I’m surprised he hasn’t demanded a cloth tablecloth and candelabra. 😉

  8. okay, I’m not surprised. Cole hated dry food. His breeder said Cole’s brothers refused dry kibbles, and he had to go to raw diets. (ewwwww) Cole required hot water, gravy, and a tad of canned food mixed in to make kibble palatable. Oy! So I did it… just for the tips dontchaknow, not because I catered to him.

      Tails Around the Ranch says:

Ah yes, we all do it for the tips. And they are numerable every single day with a dog-even the picky ones. With all the machinations to get Sam to eat with various additives (raw, pumpkin, canned, etc.), it’s a wonder I’m not a recognized gourmet chef!

    Kate Crimmins says:

I get the “good” cat food — grainfree. They like Rachel Rays but I got this coupon (this is where it goes downhill) so I tried a small bag of the store brand (but it’s an upscale store) of grain free. OMG! They were very clear that it wasn’t welcomed in the house. However, I have mixed a little in with Rachel’s just to get rid of it. Somehow they can eat it that way although if there is a piece of kibble outside the dish, it’s the store brand. How do they do that?

      Tails Around the Ranch says:

We’re right there, Kate. Good food for the pet = expensive. I’m having to cut the no longer tasty but still expensive kibbles with more expensive additives. Nothing seems to convince that dog to eat it except more expensive additions! Oy. I keep asking myself when is that dog gonna get a job to pay for his expensive champagne tastebuds. 😉
