We hope you survived the Fourth of July weekend. It was surprisingly quiet in our neighborhood for which we were grateful. I’m sure the high temps and wildfire smoke may have had something to do with it, although I know in various parts of the metro area, some stupid people were setting them off in crowded, dense neighborhoods. Obviously the heat melted any sense they may have had.
Anyway, we found a few smiles that indicate how hot it’s been. The forecast is calling for triple digits by the weekend and temps are expected to linger around the OMG level of hot for three or four consecutive days. Oh joy, I can hardly wait. On the plus side, autumn is scheduled to arrive in 78 days.

Stay cool, hydrated and keep smiling. Have a great Monday.
Live, love, bark! 🐾
Lulu: “We spent the holiday evening in the bedroom with Mama and the pink noise generator because Dada wasn’t here to put a noisy movie on the TV. He was busy getting roasted by the heat dome back East!”
Yikes, doesn’t sound like any of you guys had a decent time. Sorry about that. Hope things are better and your Dada is back if not cooler.

Glad you liked this weeks memes. We hope you enjoy a pleasant weekend before the heat arrives. Stay cool!
Monika, that “how summer feels like” image could have been a selfie of mine from the Fourth!
I thought all of those memes perfectly described this summer. And that one about staying in from 11 AM to November was the best! Let’s hope Mother Nature takes her foot off the heat accelerator.
Now that you mention it, it was fairly quiet in my neighborhood too. Usually there would have been fireworks all weekend. Maybe the economy is hurting more people than it seems.
Glad you had a a quiet weekend, sorry if the economy is what caused it. Although I’ve heard many people say the ‘festivities’ were a noisy cluster like always.
Feeling hot hot hot…MOL…We’re having a breather for a few days, with the cold winds, but better cold winds, than non at all, like it was a week ago😺Stay COOL Wilson and Monika. Here are some COOL Pawkisses for a Happy Day🐾😽💞
Many thanks for those cool pawkisses. We need them! It’s 91F (32.77) right now and we haven’t gotten to the hottest part of the day yet. 🥵
Between 11:00 a.m. and November 1st had me laughing out loud. Sadly, though, it’s true! I love being outdoors and the hot humidity is just too much. At work I can hardly get the big wooden front office door to the outside to open cause it’s so swollen!
Glad you got a chuckle out of that meme. I laughed out loud too! High heat is one thing but adding humidity on top of it is no bueno for me.
Ooh, I feel your pain with the heat! Your memes perfectly described last week! Thankfully, it is cooler this week, though it is still humid.
Keep Cool!!! Get icees! 😊
Glad you enjoyed those memes. I absolutely loved the one about restricting outside time from 11 AM to November 1st. LOL I couldn’t agree more. A heat dome is going to hang over us this week so Wilson and I are hibernating to avoid being outdoors in pizza oven temps. Stay cool and hydrate!
I’m praying the heat breaks soon, everyone needs it.
Amen to that! And thanks.
We are tired of the triple digits AND also tired of the promise of RAIN – have yet to see it although it’s all around us……almost like an April Fools joke but it’s JULY! LOL
Hugs, Pam and Teddy
Sounds a little like Groundhog Day 😬 I know what you mean about hot weather. We’re so over it.
Thanks for the Monday smiles! We’ll be complaining about the cold before we know it! Take care and stay cool. Does wine count for hydration efforts? 😉
Glad you enjoyed today’s smiles. Yeah you’re probably right but I’d be happy to have cooler temps. You can always add another layer in the winter time but can only go down so far in the summer. 😂 Stay cool and have a rest of the week. Wine counts in my books but this time of year I tend to favor a good margarita.
Love your memes, Monika. Some are so very true. The 11:00 O’clock through November 1 is a classic and true. 😄
Thanks, John. Yeah I thought the 11 to November was absolutely spot on. We hope you have a great wee!
Oh, I feel for you. 84F here but a nice breeze and no more of that horrible muggyness, so happy to be pottering about enjoying the weather 😀
Ahhh, 84 does sound good. Right now going outside feels like stepping into a pizza oven. 🥵 Have a terrific week and enjoy the summer temps without the humidity.
Those were good Wilson and that last one sure applies here in South Carolina!
We’re glad you enjoyed the smiles even if the heat isn’t enjoyable. We hope you have a good Monday.
Oh, dear, that is WAY too hot, for anyone or anything!
Let’s hope the AC keeps on keeping on!
Those are good funnies!
Thanks. Yeah, there was a power outage late last night-I just keep praying the grid holds up with the extra power going to AC’s. Hard to believe we can’t rely on the power being on. 🤦🏼♀️ Some days I feel like I’m in Puerto Rico. We hope your temps have moderated from last week. Have a great Monday.
Keep cool, Wilson, best you can. I am in tropical heat staying by the AC, and the thunder around here nearly undoes me everytime,
So sorry to hear about the thunder. So far, it hasn’t seemed to bother Wilson but I know that often changes as pets get older. In the meantime, we’re avoiding being outside except at dawn and for very brief potty breaks. The sidewalks are hot, hot, hot! Hope you have a good Monday.
I live in central California. That’s summer here all the time. You made me laugh out loud.
I linked this post to Awww Mondays as always.
Have a fabulous day and week. Love and hugs to you and handsome Wilson. ♥
Yeah, I know our whinging is silly when others have it so much worse. We tend to acclimate to our surroundings but we both hope neither of us get used to multiple days of 100+ degrees. Stay as cool as you can. As always, thanks for adding us to your blog hop. You’re the best, Sandee. Happy Monday.
Hiding in. In closet [cat]. From booms. From heat. From just about everything, anything else. Tomorrow, tomorrow, sang Annie (that’s the humans name here) … it must be a better day?
So sorry the boomers impacted you, sweet June and mum. We hope the heat goes bye-bye soon. We’ll be singing Annie’s song all week. Have a good Monday.
Sharing with everyone on the East Coast and the Midwest.
😁 Hope they enjoy after their recent heat advisories. Happy Monday, Jacqui! Stay cool.
Yep, stay indoors! This would melt candles if we still lived in pioneer days.
Funny you should say that…I have two lanterns on my front porch and last week a candle in one of them completely melted and ran out on the step. I’ve had those lanterns for years and never had any candles in them melt before. It’s going to take a while to clear up the melted wax that dripped down the step. Hope your Monday is not a melting one.
Mom always says we are one day closer to winter which is our favorite time of year. Tired of the heat and humidity here and thankful the 4th is over as it was a horrible weekend around here with constant fireworks and all the trash/packaging on the streets.
We are so hoping we’ll have a decent winter this year and praying the El Niño kicks in soon. Sorry about the noise and trash. I never understood why people are so thoughtless about both. Here’s to a good Monday for you all.
Ugh, post fireworks the air quality here was horrendous all Sunday. The AQI was 295 indicating very hazardous for all. Starting to get toasty around here now.
Yikes…talk about stratospheric! That’s N95 mask wearing…at the minimum! Hope the heat moderates soon. I think this is going to be a challenging week of high temps but hope today is a good one.
Our temps were in the mid 90s during the day but the humidity wasn’t bad (hovered between 35 and 45% during the day) except in the morning and later evening.
As for the fireworks…let’s just say that by 1 am I was ready to call the sheriff’s office. I took the Zs out for their bedtime bathroom break at about 8 o’clock so we wouldn’t have to put up with any noise. HA! Daylight didn’t stop these fools. Zoey was unfazed, though she did bark at a few of the louder ones. Poor Zen was visibly comfortable and stayed close to me the whole time. Once we came inside I turned on all the ceiling fans and the TVs. I put on the Netflix fireplace app and turned the volume up as far as I could stand it. That helped a lot, thankfully. I was surprised that we didn’t have as much last night as we did Saturday! It was relatively quiet last night. The Zs slept better but I didn’t much at all. I’m surprised I’m functioning right now.
So sorry you and the Z-kids had to endure the stress of the inconsiderate neighbors. We hope you can catch up on the lack of sleep today and can enjoy a peaceful Monday.
For once I am the one commiserating with friends suffering from high temperatures……
The planet is screaming at us and not enough people have heeded Nature’s message. We hope the temps begin to moderate soon. Shade is definitely our best friend this week, Helen. Along with a few iced beverages.
Our heat spell broke overnight with some very traumatic thunderstorms. It’s raining today (funny how you appreciate a rainy day when you haven’t had one for a while). Wishing the same for you!
Thanks, Kate. The monsoons hopefully will arrive in about two weeks 🤞🏼 Till then, I think drawn window coverings and shade will be way to spend most days. At least we don’t have the humidity you guys back east have. Hope it’s a lovely rainy Monday for you.
There is nothing like almost 100% humidity! Rain forest weather.
You have my deepest sympathies.
Love the memes for today! We just finished up at least five days of heat at 100 or more (before the heat index) and we are not fans. Some heavy storms arrived last night and brought temps down and gave the poor outdoor plants and critters some much needed water. I put out a bowl of water for the critters while it was so hot and dry. I’m sure it is overflowing this morning.
It’s gonna be a scorcher for several days so Wilson and I hit the trail this morning before 5 AM. It was interesting walking in the dark but necessary if we were going to get any exercise in. Wilson and I plan to hibernate during the daylight hours and just hope the power stays on (we had a outage just before midnight last night). Enjoy a respite in the heat and have a great Monday.
… hibernate during the daylight hours …
What a nice euphemism for day drinking! 😈
😉 It does haver a nice ring to it, doesn’t it. Guess I better go replenish my lime supply. Cheers for a terrific Monday.
🍺🍻
I’m in. Sign me up!
We dropped into the 60s with rain today. Friday’s heat index was 125. 66 is much better. I like the 11:00 am to November alert.
60’s?! Oh gosh, I’m green with envy. Please enjoy it for me. Yeah I’m an eleven AM to November fan too. Heck, I’d even be willing to shovel the sidewalks at this point. Happy Monday, Dan.
You have my sympathies… Hot weather is hard as hell to endure (esp. if you are wearing a fur coat). Stay cool you two. 🧊🧊🧊
Thank you, Eliza. It’s too early in the season for triple digits which is why Wilson got groomed over the weekend. At least he has less fur to insulate him. Happy Monday.
