Great shot! Our birds are all pretty much gone now and we are getting a big cold snap as of today.
Thank you. It was a lucky shot of being in the right place at the right time.
Yes, Antarctica is lovely this time of the year….
Those pelicans are interesting birds to watch. Heading too warmer climes might be fun for a while, but even though I do grumble , I do like the changing seasons,. My parents lived in the West Indies for a couple years, and they really missed that.
I’m the same way-I like having 4 distinct seasons; ironically enough though, it’s easy to find something to complain about in each of them. Egad…I guess I’ve turned into a malcontent! Awk! 🤣
Want company? I’d gladly head south, too!
Sa-weet! Packing my bag as we speak!
That is an amazing photo.
Bye bye Mistur or Missus Pellycan! Take care!

Pelicans fascinate me! They look so prehistoric.
He may be heading for the Texas Gulf coast. Lots of his relatives are there.
I’m guessing this guy went to Southern California since he was near Baja but yeah, I suspect loads of his cousins flock to the Texas Gulf Coast. Happy mid-week, John.
Thank you, Monika. Happy Mid-week to you.
The next season “whose name shall not be said”…I admittedly look forward to that time of year as I do Fall, but I will try to refrain from repeating it here. Great picture, and I agree that birdie is probably relocating at this time. Have a great rest of the week, Monika!
Completely understand. I too look forward to the next season, it’s part of the 4 seasons a year life I enjoy (even when I grouse about too hot, too cold, etc.). It’s a curse imitating Goldilocks. 🤣
I’ll stay where I am, thank you. Much further south, or east, will put me on a collision course with Hurricane Nicole.
Don’t blame you. It’s very troubling to see a hurricane like Nichole coming after November 1st.
As we batten down the hatches for our second hurricane experience since moving to Florida I am still enjoying the eagles, pelicans, hawks, Ibis, and sand hill cranes that fly our skies. I could, however, do without all the lizards. Way too many of those!
Stay safe, Cristina…and avoid (as much as you can the lizards). They kinda creep me out, darting so quickly away from my presence.
South? Yes, please!
Stay warm, it’s starting to morph into the next season who’s name shall not be said. 😉
well the geese are heading here. They love the golf course and it’s water hazards and what a mess they make. I guess we’re south to them
The geese in Denver never leave anymore. Those moochers learned it’s a good life staying in parks & golf courses especially, those that have bodies of water.
Lulu: “Pelican! I wonder if he is heading this way …”
That’d be a good guess, Lulu!
Yes many are heading south. I can’t believe all the hummingbirds we still have here. Tough time keeping them fed.
I linked this post to Wordless Wednesday.
Have a fabulous day, my friend. Scritches to the pups and a smooth to Norman. ♥
Many thanks, Sandee! After running scads of errands in the south part of the metro area all day yesterday I saw a couple of beautiful birds of prey who were still hanging out which prompted me to post this pelican. Hawks always make me stop and stare at their beautiful profiles. Have a splendid Wordless Wednesday!
we like that idea…
With chilly early mornings here, it sounds like a good plan. Happy mid-week.
Heading South sounds good – as long as you avoid Hurricane Nicole!
Hugs, Pam and Teddy
Exactly! Wow, who’d have thought a hurricane would hit after November 1st?!
Good catch … Have you had your first snow?
We did, Last week about 3 inches. It was 99% gone by the next day though which meant it soaked right in. I think the mountains have gotten more, especially over the weekend. I think Breckenridge just opened after receiving a foot.
