Monday Musings ~ January 22, 2024

Monday smile

Note to self, remember to close the door or close the lid. I woke up to loud lapping the other night and discovered a clean bowl apparently isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Blech.

And for all those people wondering what ‘Not Sam’s’ new name is, after two weeks of pondering, ‘Wilson‘ seems to fit the bill. Of course he ignores all names when it comes to moving over on the bed and/or sofa, but am hoping eventually I’ll be able to break through the language barrier once he realizes his new identity. Being on the bottom of the dog pile makes for interesting snoozes and way too many knee and leg cramps.

Dog pile

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. Thanks. He’s trying hard to fit in…not always successfully if you ask Elsa but hopefully things will be resolved for a mutual co-existence without bankrupting me. 🤞🏻

  1. Omg i missed this big event!! I am wading through 200 emails but I’ll find it! Congratulations on a new family member!

  2. I’m kinda late to the party here, so my apologies; but I love the name “Wilson” for your “Not Sam” boy! Did I read somewhere that he weighs 100 pounds? Holy Pups!! Zen is up to 85 and I thought that was a lot! Thankfully he pretty much lays next to me rather than on top of me. Even at only 61 pounds, Zoey often makes it necessary for me to shift positions…she’s a good girl though and usually doesn’t complain. 😍

    1. No worries, yes, Wilson is quite the tank. I’m trying to work on teaching him what is appropriate contact. He’s just too big to be laying on me and trying to get him to get off furniture has been a challenge thus far. Right now he needs lots of patience to succeed, luckily he seems eager to please and just needs to learn/understand what is expected of him. I hope he’ll do well as he learns that city life is nothing to fear.

    1. Vielen dank, Mariette. You kind comment is great appreciated, especially given your recent loss. Bless you and thank you for swinging by the “Ranch.”

    1. Boy, you can say that! Why are dogs drawn to toilet bowls and water standing in gutters?

  3. Wilson is a wonderful name for him Monika and he already looks like he has no intention of leaving! 💕🐕 xxx

    1. Many thanks for the comment and well wishes. Sorry for the delay-your comment was in the spam folder for some inexplicable reason. Silly WordPress.

      1. WerdPest has dumped us in Blogger’s SPAM folders for monthss now! I am so sick of it. And no one replies to my question about why this is happening or why the LIKE button rarely works Monika!
At least you found us! BellaSita Mum <3

        1. Color me cynical…I frequently check the spam folder, especially for the regular readers of this blog. It’s happened to other as well. Technology can be great but sometimes it’s just aggravating.

    1. Yeah, indoor water fountains are a big no-no. It always reminds me of Hooch and certainly hope he’s more refined than that! Thanks, am hopeful the name was a good choice.

  4. Hello, Wilson, welcome to the pack! And we ALWAYS close the toilet lids, so none of ours knows what they’re missing!!
Looking forward to many posts with Wilson and Elsa. Or Elsa and Wilson, he, he.

  5. Oh we think we missed something here…is Wilson a new family member, Monika and Elsa? He’s really cute and we love his name💗 When Stippie gets a chance, he drinks out of the toilet too…but no chance that this will happen, with Granny by our side…😺😸Double Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead to all of you🐾😽💞

    1. Yes, Wilson is the foster I brought home from Missouri a couple of weeks ago. I guess the toilet bowl was just a bit too fascinating. Hopefully we’ve managed to convince him his 3 times a day bowl of water will be more exciting for him. 😉

  6. We love the name Wilson, it is perfect for him. None of us have ever had a drink from a toilet bowl. Mom is uber organized and always puts lids down on toilets even at other peoples homes. She can’t stand looking into toilets.

  7. He looks like a Wilson…….or maybe a Harvey……..No – I like Wilson best! Toilets are so darn convenient especially if you’re a dog of a certain size….not as much bending over. HAHAHAHAHA

    Hugs, Pam

  8. Yay for Wilson! Sounds good to me and Oh My on the dog pile! He is so blessed to have found you 💓 And you are blessed too! Happy for you all. ❤️

    1. Thank you, Marcela. I’m hopeful the adventures will all be mostly in the positive category.

  9. Bwahahahahahahaha. Our Angel Little Bit did the very same thing.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. Scritches to Elsa. ♥

    1. I’ve heard of ‘weighted’ blankets, but Wilson takes it to a whole other realm. Thanks for linking us to the blog hop-we appreciate it.

  10. well, welcome to the ranch Wilson…. remember to give mama room when you sleep.
I know you mean well, and are snuggling,
If the mama can’t walk to the snack container it’s not working out, and Elsa the enforcer might have to train you and she’s no joke!

    1. Snuggling is one thing but this heavy of a ‘weighted blanket’ is in another category.

  11. Any bowl in a storm?… I think the perfect name found “not Sam”. #Wilson! I can already see it trending on social media. Have a great week at the ranch. I hope Mother Nature is kinder to you this week.

    1. Thanks, Mike. Nature is being kind this week, the universe however seems to have it out for me.

  12. A dog’s gotta do what a dog’s gotta do…
Wilson suits him….he has that imperturbable air of the prime minister of that name.

  13. I love the name Wilson.
My friend had a cat that she named Wilson because it used to look over the side of a box just like Wilson in “Home Improvement” 😉

    1. Thanks. It just seemed to fit his personality. We’ll see if it is all its supposed to be with his personality.

Feel free to bark your thoughts...but please no growling.
