Monday Musings ~ September 22, 2025

Happy Monday, peeps. As you probably know we’ve been counting down the days until the official arrival of autumn since July as it has been one heck of a hot summer.  Well it’s here…so color us happy! If you need some perspective, there are 100 days left in 2025.

Because it’s hard for us to resist a good pun, today’s autumn smile featuring the Floof (from last year-leaves have been slow to change yet here) is for you. Do you recall that old Maybelline commercial from a few years ago: maybe he’s born with it, maybe it’s Maple leaves. By his expression, apparently the tongue sticking out is Wilson’s way to groan.

Wilson - leaves
Maybe he’s born with it, maybe it’s Maple leaves.

Today is also Rosh Hashanah and we send our best New Year wishes to all who celebrate.

We hope you have a fabulous Monday and an even better week. Enjoy!

    1. We totally love groan worthy puns and think it’s good to be silly this day and age. Happy autumn!

  2. Lulu: “Our Dada says he remembers all the maple leaves from back East! Not to mention the maple tree seed helicopters that would spin down out of the sky every fall and go flying everywhere!”
Oona: “That sounds fascinating. Oona would pay good money to see that and chase them around a bit.”

    1. Those helicopter seeds were fun the first few years until you realize you’ll be raking those up too…forever. Maple trees are beautiful trees but are definitely high maintenance. You’d have loads of fun Oona chasing them.

    1. Yay…groaner puns make me smile too, so glad you enjoyed it. Hope things are feeling better for you. Hugs and tail wiggles.

    1. He likely would have left his big fat head in your lap waiting for ear rubs. Hope all is well, Helen and no more visits for a good long while. Sending loads of Wilson healing energy your way.

  3. Bahahahahahaha!

Wilson plays the part SO well.

Maybe it’s Maple Leafs . . . that’s hilarious. And then his ‘groan’, it just makes the whole thing perfect.

    Happy Monday mama

    1. Very pleased that you enjoyed it. I’m a total sucker for puns and what could be better than ‘maple leafs’ now that HOCKEY IS BACK!! Color me happy plus the added bonus of much nicer weather. Happy Monday, Marc.

    1. Mum loves puns, good or bad. She just can’t resist. I think we could hear loads of groans through the Internet. LOL Have a wonderful Monday and enjoy the nice weather.

  4. When I saw the pic, I was gonna say…. whoa! Ours are slow this year, too. I don’t mind that part, at all. I AM loving the cooler temps which still allow me to wear skirts and sandals but man… way better than that awful heat!
    Happy Monday to you!

    1. For the most part, the only leaves changing color are gold (although we found a couple of red leaves on our early morning walk). We love the crisp mornings this time of year. Such a beautiful time of year. Have a wonderful Monday!

      1. On my drive into the city, I pass by the Boucherville Islands and there is one tree that is brillliant red. The only one! From my office window, I am seeing a few branches of orange on the maple tree. I so love this time of year!
        You, too!

  5. Hubby and I have been waiting for fall too and we’re doing the happy dance this morning.

Wilson is most adorable. Tell him I said so.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day, week and fall, my friend. Scritches to Wilson. ♥

    1. Thanks, Sandee. YES…we’re both welcoming autumn’s arrival too. Here’s to a pawsome autumn and Monday. Thanks for linking us to your Monday blog.
P.S. Wilson says many thanks for the compliment and send puppy kisses your way. 😉

  6. i never heard maybe it’s maple leaves, bwaaaa hahahahaha
poor Wilson having to put up with human humor!
seems like the way to get cooler temps is to block the sun so it’s gonna rain for two days, LeeAnna

    1. I used to love those commercials. I can only hope we’ll gert some moisture the next few days…so far the skies around our neighborhood didn’t get the rain memo. Have a Happy Monday.

  7. Thanks! It’s our favorite season too. And I couldn’t resist snapping a pic of him in the midst of it. Wishing you a wonderful Monday!

    1. Wilson thinks that’s too heavy of a hat tax to pay even for this blog. LOL Happy Monday, happy autumn.

    1. The colors are changing in the foothills and mountains but just beginning in the city and most of them are gold, although we did see a couple of reddish maple leaves this morning on our walk. Happy Monday!

  8. I’m with onespoiled cat! My favorite season (Spring is next) ) and I ‘m a kitty (katie Isabella and I am not allowed out! Bah! Pfffttt!

    1. It’s ours too. The weather is so lovely and yet still nice enough to get outside. Hopefully Katie Isabella, the view makes up for not being allowed outside. Happy Monday,.

    1. Tha leaf had a mind of its own. I just quickly snapped the pic. It didn’t stay on his head for long. We hope you have a pawsome Monday.

  9. LOVE the photo of darling Wilson with his “tongue of disapproval” showing! BUT the maple leaf on the head is a perfect way to welcome in my favorite season….Fall.

    Hugs, Pam
