The Mum: Thanks for being such a good nurse mate, Wilson. I appreciate that you continue to make sure I’m doing well and very grateful you haven’t gone too overboard with your ministrations. You’re a good boy, House Pony.
Wilson: Well I hate to state the obvious but you know I’m right here next to you and won’t leave your side. You’re in good paws with me.
The Mum: Yes, I know…but you know you can leave a bit of space between us…I promise I’m fine. You really can step back and give me just a smidge more breathing room.
Wilson: Now Mum, I haven’t laid on you, I’ve just been very close. Why not declare that a win and leave it there.
The Mum: Hmm, when you put it like that, I guess you make a valid point. But please, try to humor me.
Wilson: They don’t call us sheepdogs “Nanny Dogs” for nothing. Just think of me as an extension of your shadow, okay?
The Mum: {sighing} Fine, guess I’ll just have to resign to the fact that you’re just a teeny tiny hair’s width away. The only thing better would be if you had thumbs and could grab things.
Wilson: Umm, I’m sure that could be wonderful for me, but you might not like the outcome. I mean, what could possible go wrong? {snickering}
The Mum: Egad…I hadn’t thought of it like that. You’re right. Let’s just forgot I said that and have you share the first photo instead.
Wilson: Right-o. There are scads of bunnies all over the trail path we walk every day and occasionally we’ll see one hop around but yesterday there were a couple of babies who were rather stationary. Neither of us noticed this little tyke who was intently keeping an eye on us near the compost bins but then he flinched so we noticed him and then were able to watch for several minutes. They are just so cute. Here’s the first one.
The Mum: I love coming across them on our walks. And it’s nice to see them closer to our house. Here’s the other one. They sure can blend into their surroundings nicely.
Wilson: Those guys were pretty shy whenever they see me. I wish they weren’t so afraid of me. I’m a decent chap.
The Mum: That you are, it’s just their nature to avoid anything that looks like a predator…
Wilson: {interrupting} Predator??? Oh dear, I’m very sorry if that’s what they think I am. I’m a very decent chap who just wants to sniff them to figure out what they are and if they’re friend or foe.
The Mum: Well, you and I know that, but that’s just the way bunnies process their world. Don’t take it personally. What else do you have to share with us today?
Wilson: People around our house have teeny tiny plots of land and not many of them plant very many flowers but I did manage to find a few. Check out these pretty phlox and stonecrop.
The Mum: Very nice. I also saw a very colorful Caladium not too far from those other flowers. It was so vibrant.
Wilson: They’re all lovely, Mum. Hey, I thought we were going to see some baby geese this summer but so far, we haven’t seen any in the canal or along the creek. What’s up with that?
The Mum: I know, I’m disappointed too. The only goose around here that I like is the Giddy Goose statutes. This guys makes me smile and is just as cute as goslings. On the plus side, it doesn’t poop all over the sidewalk either.
Wilson: And then there’s the fact it doesn’t chase after me like those guys along the golf course. Those geese are always so cranky.
The Mum: Well like I said, I’ll take Giddy Goose any day of the week. Well that’s it from us. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and are able to get outdoors and enjoy whatever weather Nature is delivering to your neck of the woods.
Wilson: Yes, Enjoy getting out and seeing how lovely Nature can be. Have a splendid weekend!

Those flowers sure are pretty. And Wilson, you’re a better boy than my 3 girls. They would have been barking and trying to get at that bunny. Maybe you and one of the bunnies can be friends.
Thanks, I never knew either and sure don’t want to experience it again. The doctors all said, they’re actually fairly common and most people have cysts on their kidneys.
Wilson isn’t sure what to make of bunnies and they are not inclined to stick around to become friends. Squirrels on the other hand…he knows exactly what to do. They have the same reaction as the bunnies much to his dismay. We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Oh dear, That must have been quite a relief to have the pain gone after the ordeal of getting the cyst drained. I sure hope it won’t come back to make you all painful agan.

It’s definitely been an adventure. And hopefully one that Mum won’t have to experience again any time soon. They took off a LOT of fluid so she got relief from pain right away. Now, she’s experiencing only a little bit of pain as the kidney regains it’s elasticity and form after being pushed around by that cyst. Have a pleasant weekend with hopefully cool temps.

Many thanks for the good wishes. Mum says I give new meaning to the term “dog pile” but she’s been a fairly good patient. Mum thought that caladium was quite striking. She loves finding plants like that on walks. I prefer seeing bunnies myself, but to each his own, eh?

It’s fun finding new plants as one walks, but yes, bunnies are even sweeter. 😉 We are lucky to see them in our backyard.

Thanks, Marc. Good to see you back again! I’m always blown away by how bunnies blend in whether its gravel, grasses or the woods. I guess when you’re the main dish on every apex predator, you utilize any way to avoid them. Don’t get me started on the heat. We were in triple digits today but only 11% humidity. At least that part was ok but man it feels like you’re walking into a pizza oven.
Not sure what the story is re the geese. Maybe it’s too hot for them…wouldn’t surprise me. Haven’t seen many on the golf course lately either, now that I think about it. Here’s wishing you a ‘pawtastic’ weekend. Stay as cool as you can!

Oh no, sorry to hear your health news, glad you are recovering with help from your nurse! A few years back I got an MRI for something else and they happened to see a kidney cyst. They told me not to worry, they often find them that way. Now I’m wondering if I should worry!
Nah, they’re actually quite common. All the doctor’s I saw over this past couple of weeks said the same thing, in fact, they said most people have them and there’s nothing to worry about unless they they change like they did with me. Even then, they aspirated the cyst and said I should be just fine. Have a great weekend.

No, the aspiration was not pleasant but not as bad as she thought. But she has been suffering from the pain of that cyst for over a month and was just about willing to do anything to make it go away. Now she feels better and hopefully everything will heal up nicely. Be sure to have a wonderful weekend-and maybe a shower or two.

You can have all our geese. We don’t care if the babies are cute, they are rotten creatures that ruin all the walking trails with their poop and they are very mean and dangerous. Sounds painful what your mom had done, good you are taking care of her. We are rabbit crazy at our house. Mom prays we don’t see any on our walks as in her words, we become animals. She can barely hold onto us as we lunge and pull. Have a nice weekend.
Mum says as long as they’re Giddy Goose statutes, she won’t mind seeing them. At least they don’t leave poop all over the sidewalk like real geese do. Mum is doing pretty well after the cyst was aspirated and should be back to normal noon. Have a great weekend and hopefully you won’t run into any geese along your travels.

Wilson, you are such a good boy for stepping up and managing things for The Mum. We all send along big virtual hugs…and will assume The Mum will take care of those physical hugs. We have a couple of baby bunnies hopping around here, but they really are skittish and tend to flee whenever anyone gets too close. Those flowers are beautiful, and ones I don’t see in my travels. Giddy Goose is definitely a preferred goose if only due to non-crankyness. Have a great weekend on the Ranch!
