Monday Musings ~ August 31, 2026

Happy last Monday in August which means we’re one day closer to autumn dropping…in a mere 22 days away. Woohoo!  Another reason for us to celebrate is that we received a small shower yesterday. While it wasn’t much, it still was something and we’ll take it.  And because it’s still Monday, while we’re celebrating the countdown and a tiny bit of moisture, we still need to start out the week with a smile. We hope you have a terrific Monday that carries over throughout the week. September…here we come!

Monday

  1. This entire summer has gone by so fast. I ran a few errands yesterday evening after it had cooled a bit and got home around 9 pm. I kept thinking that a couple weeks ago the sun would have just been setting, but really it was almost 3 months ago.

    1. We typically walk at dawn to avoid the heat of the day. That’s becoming later and later. This morning I just bagged the dawn walk and fed Wilson first. We’ll go after he’s properly digested. It’ll feel strange walking with the sun shining on us. Hopefully the cool temp this morning will hold out for another couple of hours.

  2. August felt like it was here for five minutes. And now . . . September. And before we know it Halloween . . . and then . . okay I’ll stop.

Love the rainbow funny. Hope you have a great week mama

    1. Thanks Marc. Hope your week is fantastic. Yeah this year has vacillated between warp speed and inching along. It’s been muy crazy, that’s for sure.

  3. 🤦‍♀️ LOL!
Happy Monday! Hope it was a great day for you and Wilson! Yay on the small shower!
Its supposed to climb up to the 90’s all week. Ugh! Apparently Pa isn’t getting the message yet that September is here! 🙂

    1. We’ll be in the 80’s here but at least we don’t have the humidity.

Glad today’s pun made you laugh. I know how much you love puns. Hope it’s been a swell day.

  4. We’ve had a bit more rain than you’ve had out there, but it comes down so hard and fast that it doesn’t have a chance to soak into the ground. We just end up with muddy paws. 😡 Oh well. As long as September doesn’t bring us any more hurricanes like Helene, I’ll be happy.

I like that Monday Smile…it’s cute. But I didn’t know rainbows could be bad. ❓⁉️

    1. I think Dolly said it best. You can’t have a rainbow without a little rain. At this point we’d happily take any amount of rain. Even if it means dirty paws. Have a great week and please give the Zen kids a nice belly rub from us.

    1. So glad you enjoyed it! We’re with you…I’m so over summer and even the idea of shoveling snow doesn’t bother me. We hope you all have a fur-bulous week!

  5. Haha! That is a good punny!!
If fall is in the making, why are we going to have temps in thew upper 80’s and low 90’s with high humidity this week?? Blah…
Glad you got some rain. We had a long rain spell Sunday morning. I think we got about an inch of rain over several hours, so that was a welcome rain. I hope you’ll get some more.

    1. Very pleased that you liked today’s smile. I’m a big fan of puns and this one made me chuckle out loud. I don’t blame you for wondering about autumn’s arrival with those temps and worse yet, high humidity. We’re so used to our 10-15% humidity-it’s easier to tolerate though I’ pretty over giving Mother Nature a pass. I’m hoping the forecast is accurate this week-it is calling for a couple of showers and lord knows we can use it.We’re oer 5 inches down for the year so anything would be ok by me. Have a good Monday.

  6. A shower of rain…and just 22 days away…things are looking up! I think even the rainbows have to appreciate that joke, Monika…especially since the rainbows know there is no such thing as a bad rainbow.🌈 Have a great Monday!

    1. That’s exactly what I thought! I’m trying to be more grateful on a day to day basis. It’s just easier that way. As Dolly parton once said, “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” And I’m good with that. Have a terrific week, Bruce.

    1. Well, I’m glad a smile eventually showed up-that’s the important thing. Here’s hoping your week is full of smiles. Ear rubs for the whole gang.

    1. So glad you enjoyed today’s smile. I love puns…the cheesier the better. Best wishes for a terrific week, John!

  7. Love the funny and love that fall is right around the corner. We had rain here too and it was most wonderful.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. ♥

    1. So glad you enjoyed today’s silliness. Thanks for linking us to the Awww Mondays post. You’re the best, Sandee. I know you’re not supposed to wish your life away but these next 22 days can’t come soon enough for me. Have a awesome Monday!

    1. Thanks, Eliza. I totally love cheesy puns and this one felt especially clever. Happy Monday right back atcha.

    1. So glad you enjoyed today’s smile. Since I love puns, I thought it was pretty clever. Hope you haver a sensational Monday!

  8. I’m not sure if I should chuckle or boo. I’ll do both, a chuckle for the rainbow and a boo for the impending end of Summer. I do appreciate Fall very much but it means that we’re that much closer to Winter, which I like about as much as kloe likes cats. 😮 But as my dad used to say, “any day above ground is a good day.” Speaking of good day, have a good set of seven in a row of them.

    1. You can do both, Mike. That’s the sign of a very good pun. I know you enjoy summer, lots of folks do and I say enjoy it. It’s just not Wilson or my favorite season. We’re more autumn folks. Especially if there’s some moisture in it. Enjoy a wonderful Monday! Give the Golden Girls a good belly rub from us.

    1. Glad you liked it! Yes, happy last day of August. Hope it’s a grand one for you.

      1. The sun is shining; the morning was cool but the day is warming up and we should reach about 75 (feels like) which to me, is the besterest!
        Hope yours is lovely.

  9. This bad pun reminded me of my father-in-law. He loved puns and we would collect them for him. He would’ve loved this one.

I did groan at it, before smiling.

    1. That makes me smile. I too love puns and this one had me guffawing heartily. Happy Monday, Julia.

    1. In some ways this year has flown by, in others, it’s been a slow slog. But it is what it is. Here’s hoping the rest of the year ends up on a positive note. Happy Monday.

    1. Thanks so much, Carole. You’ve brightened our morning with your sweet comment. have a super Monday!

    1. Glad you enjoyed it. We’re with you guys on ushering in autumn. Have a Happy Monday.

  10. Love that chuckle and glad you got some rain. I think that’s the batch we had boxed for you. Sadly it leaked on the way.

    1. Thanks, so glad you enjoyed today’s chuckle. And thanks for the box…we’re grateful for every drop. Have a terrific Monday.

    1. Thanks, Dan. I love puns and had to chuckle with that one. Glad you enjoyed it. Have a marvelous Monday.

    1. We’re glad you enjoyed today’s smile and hope your Monday is full of more of them.

    1. What…you didn’t smile…even a little bit? Have a fantastic Monday, Martha and give Chester a nice belly rub from us!
