Meme Monday ~ June 3, 2019

Good grief, it’s June already?! Where did the first half of 2019 go? Seems like only yesterday I was shoveling snow. Oh wait, I was…since a snow storm marched through Denver on May 20th. Not actually yesterday, but close enough.

Over the weekend Sam and I ‘pawticipated’ in the annual event known as Heroes of Hope where staff and community celebrate cancer survivors with a festival-like event including a race, wellness booths filled with health products, info and all around camaraderie providing resources when dealing with this horrible disease. Lutheran’s Run/Walk is the largest National Cancer Survivors Day in Jefferson County. You read highlights from the past couple of years for 2018 here and 2017 here. Although I hurt my back a few days ago, I was hoping a 1K walk might help loosen it up (I was wrong on that, but it was definitely worthwhile nonetheless).

Attending this event made me realize the meme, “everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong” is so true.

We’ll share more highlights later this week about why this Knucklehead is the best, but until then, does anyone know where I put the ice pack? Have a great Monday and give your own ‘hero/best dog’ some extra loving from us.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. Looking forward to hearing more about this event – and how Sam shone, but in the meantime hope your back is feeling better!

    1. You’re very kind. Yes, he managed to get a good share of ear rubs and attention. That dog is quite shameless when it comes to being around people.

      1. It takes a while for the spasms to go away but it’s getting better. Thanks for the kind wishes.

  2. Where did the first half of the year go? I agree and I have burned in my mind something a friend sent me a year or so ago:
    January
    February
    March
    Blink
    December.
The Ladies have their big fundraising lunch for cancer at the end of this month. It is always well attended and for a small team, they do very well. Yes, everyone helps but it is organized by the ladies and there are always plenty of goodies – and scones…
We always say that every baby is beautiful to his/her mother, The same I feel applies to our dogs, every pup/dog is beautiful to his/her owner.

    1. Your friend is most observant on the notion of time.

I hope your event is well received and the scones flowing. 🥐

Everyone’s dog is best for themselves. And it shouldn’t be any other way.

    1. Thank you, Binky. Even though he’s starting to slow down a bit, he still gives so much to all peeps.

  3. Our hero wears his cape (actually bandanna but that’s close enough) well. Too handsome. Bad backs are the worst. Fortunately we have a hot tub and that gets a lot of use as we get (cough) older.

    1. Isn’t a bandana just a teeny cape anyway? 😊Yeah, I wish I didn’t know exactly what you mean about getting older. I thought stress was supposed to be reduced when you retired?

    1. And every cat thinks it’s the best in the world as well. 🤣I’m told that cats aren’t owned. True?

  4. Ma says I’m the best too! okays…….maybe not today when I tried to sit on her head when she was stretching…..
Ma loooooves your snooter Sam! she says it is as big as mine..BOL!!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

    1. Us ‘big snooter’ dogs are extra special, aren’t we? Sam thinks downward facing dog is a reason for a face wash as if his spit was some wrinkle eraser. 🤣

    1. Will do. He’s always a modest boy but expects lots of love in return.

  5. Mom says she TOTALLY agrees – she says the same thing about us ( and about her kids and grandkids:)

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

    1. Thanks, it is indeed a great cause and we were able to celebrate a good number of survivors. 🥰

  6. Everyone thinking they have the best dog/cat/spouse/etc is really the best thing ever. We all think Sam is pretty great, too! xox Xena, Lucy and Amy

    1. Thanks Xena, Lucy and Amy. I’m kinda fond of him too. 😍But just a little. Ha!

  7. Monika, I hope your back improves with some rest! You were brave to try the walk with a back injury, and we’d hate to see that get worse. As for Sam, oh he is SO handsome! And yes, I can see that he’s the absolute BEST.

    1. Thanks, I have suffered from back spasms for years, this is just another cycle. It’s still annoying, but hopefully it will pass in a few days. Sam will help me feel better through it. 🥰

    1. Thanks. Give him a few hundred people, a bunch of dogs and a fine Colorado morning and he’s in his favorite element. ❤️

  8. Sorry about your back. I hate it when my back is out of whack.

Everyone has the best dog. As it should be.

You need to linked this post to Awww Mondays. That’s a huge Awww shot.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups. ♥

  9. Oh, a back that hurts is not nice at all and Mom and I do hope you feel much better soon. Ask Sam to climb on your back and give you a good massage. 🙂

Sam looks so cool and he is a hero for sure! Mom and I love the meme. She says it’s very true.
Thanks for sharing this event and beautiful photos with us. 💕

        1. Thanks. Promise that I’ll take it easy and Sam will help me keep that promise.

    1. In this day ad age, it’s something that we all can agree upon. 🥰
