Nature Friday ~ June 14, 2019

Today is Friday where we join our fur-iends, Rosy and her brothers from the LLB Gang for Nature Friday. ‘Technically’ I’m still not here, but I couldn’t let an opportunity pass to celebrate the wonder and beauty of Nature. Originally, I thought this post was scheduled earlier this week and you may have seen the video on our Instagram account (you do follow us on Instagram, right-well what are you waiting for?) and suspect foul play by the WordPress gremlins nixed the intended post. No matter, we can still enjoy a quiet relaxing moment from the beautiful state of Hawaii.

No trip to the Big Island is complete without seeing a turtle. A very big turtle came up on the beach to see what was shakin’. Uhh, dude, hope you put some sunscreen on before you began your nap. Because I respect nature as well as appreciate it, please know this turtle was not touched. These magnificent creatures are so fascinating to watch in their natural habitat.

We hope your weekend is filled with beauty and loads of the beautiful relaxing images from nature. See you next week!

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. I totally agree. Wish there was a beach close by to hear that beautiful sound.

  1. Hawaii is such a beautiful place to visit, Maui is the most peaceful stop I think I’ve ever made. So much so I went there twice more, LOL.

    1. If you liked Maui, you’d love the Big Island. Slower pace, incredibly beautiful and diverse landscapes, it’s heaven on earth.

  2. Hawaii has been my most desired vacation spot for years and yet, I’ve never been. The Boy likes to tell me Florida has just as good beaches – but beaches aren’t even 10% of it! Volcanos, wildlife, the Observatory … I feel like a travel video 🙂

    1. You would be a good travel video. While Florida may have some decent beaches, as a vacation destination, it doesn’t hold a candle to the amazing Big Island IMHO. The cultural diversity alone is unlike any place else in the US, add to that the geographical wonders and there simply is no comparison. At some point I hope you’ll be able to visit-it’s simply an amazing place. From blizzards from top of Mauna Loa to pristine black sand beaches and everything in between, there just is no place quite like it.

    1. It’s practically impossible not to relax on a Hawaiian beach and watch the surf. It is very zen-like-no wonder my son who lives there calls it paradise. 🌴

    1. Everytime I watch that video I begin looking for inexpensive airfares! Those gigantic turtles are truly amazing.

      1. You’re lucky… at least it’s within your country – you get much better deals then we do 😉
Still, I’m positive it ain’t cheap.
Those turtles were beautiful to watch.
I’ll never forget this stupid woman say: Go pet the turtle, Tommy, I’ll take a picture!
Right beside the sign that said: Do NOT touch the turtles, a $10,000 fine if you do…

        1. It all depends from what airport you fly out of-sadly DIA is a pricey airport. There aren’t many great deals out of Denver to most places.

Yeah, we had to tell a few sightseers to not harass or touch the turtles on that beach as well. People are just stupid and with everyone trying to get that Instagram photo, people continue to break rules and do incredibly stupid things. It’s gotten ridiculous, you start thinking maybe Darwin’s natural selection theory isn’t a bad thing. 🤭

          1. I guess that makes sense…

Yeah. It so clearly states the turtles are on ground to rest. Leave them be. Plus the oils on our skin are not good for them.
I could not agree with you more re Darwin!!

            1. High airfares when the airport first opened in 1995 made sense. It would be cheaper to fly out of airports farther east than Denver. Makes no sense now other than simple greed. I cannot believe the bonds used to create it haven’t been paid back.

    1. No whale or dolphin, it was some guy diving more than likely since there were several swimmers and divers to the right of that lagoon. It WAS a big turtle and there were a couple others on the beach sunning themselves with seemingly not a care in the world. Truly amazing.

    1. Glad you liked it; It’s always a perfect time to visit Hawaii in my mind. 🌴

    1. Everyone can probably do with a little relaxation, even if we can’t be there in person to enjoy it. 😍

    1. Didn’t climb so much as slowly hiked around Mauna Loa and got as close to the Kilauea caldera as we were allowed. The landscape is truly astonishing.

  3. Leaving my poodle-love behind as I embark on a bicycle adventure. He’s in good hands though with my sis and family. Alas my week may be rain-filled and on the chilly side but I’ll have an ocean to enjoy all the same and there is always bliss in that! Love the turtle…:-)

    1. Have a wonderful bike trip (Scotland, if I remember correctly?). Sounds like a truly wonderful trip to bike through the amazing countryside.

  4. Beautiful. I’ve been to Hawaii twice and loved both visits. So much to see and yes you have to see a turtle.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥

    1. It truly is a paradise place in which one can unwind or go-go-go seeing incredible sights.

    1. There is something quite zen-like to sitting on the beach there and just listening to the waves and watching the tide go in and out.

  5. It sure is awesome to chill on the beach. Amazing photo of this cool turtle and Mom and I loved the video. Thanks for sharing this beautiful part of nature and have an awesome weekend! Lots of hugs and wet kisses for everyone. 😀 😘😘😘💕

    1. Definitely worth the time to just listen, take the sights and sounds in and repeat.
