Itâs not that I dislike Mondays, itâs just that Monday reminds me that I have to adult. Two major house hiccups occurred over the weekend (Iâm still on the phone with Whirlpool after being on hold for 25+ minutes đŹ). I just wasnât prepared for this after enjoying a lovely weekend. So what adulting do you have to do today if you donât have to go to work?

We hope your day of adulting goes well and if anyone has any pull with Whirlpool, let me know. Thereâs gotta be a better way to get through to them regarding a problem with a brand spanking new appliance. Grrr.
Happy Monday! Have a great week.
Live, love, bark! đŸ
Just left a comment but it disappeared!! đ
Very sorry about that, Paul. Not sure what happened but Iâll keep a eye out to see whatâs going on. I looked to see if perhaps it got sent to the spam folder but it wasnât there. Sometimes I just donât understand how or why Google operates the way it does. Be well.
I was just rabbiting on about a nice breakfast that me and my wife enjoyed, and we met a lovely dog (Red Welsh Collie) that was adorable đ
Meeting dogs always makes the day lovely.
My wife was eating bacon and the lovely dog was licking its lips đ
Haha! Iâll just bet he was!
Ugh, on your Whirlpool problems! Especially when its brand new! Whirlpool is a good name. Hope you got it taken care of now. Sorry, I am behind with your posts. With this being my last week with my son, I have been behind with reading all posts.
Donât apologize for spending time with your first born! I totally get it. Yeah, the repair guy said the model I have is a good one-just that this particular unit had a bad control board. I hope they can come out next week to replace it otherwise Iâll be running out of underwear! (I know TMI-sorry).
đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł Oh, lady! Your last line ⊠Yes, I certainly hope it gets repaired next week!
đ€đ»đ€đ»đ€đ»
My adulting today involves the vacuum cleaner. Iâd rather do that, though, than sit on hold. Sorry that youâre having to deal with that. Hopefully it will work out, and youâll get some excellent customer service. Crossing my fingers for you. đ
Many thanks for the well wishes. As I suspected, the repairman confirmed the control board was defected and had failed. A new one was ordered and hopefully it will arrive and get installed soon. My laundry is growing by leaps and bounds! đ
đ
Sweet doggie, we donât know why eitherđč We also come to wish you, dear Wilson, a happy Gotcha Day and many more to come. Extra very festive Pawkisses for the occassionđŸđœđ
Thanks for the sweet wishes. Wilson appreciated all the good wishes.
Sending our Happy Gotcha Day wishes to you, Wilson! Aroo!
Many thanks. I totally spaced it out. Thankfully the Cat Blogosphere reminded me. Theyâre the best!
Adulting is just too hard for Mrs. B and I, so we chose to never actually grow up. We just fake it when it comes time to having to be old-er. Weâve been lucky enough to (knocking on wood as I type this) have the major appliances last as long as weâve lived at our current address (20 years). The only incident weâve had is one too many power outages finally sapped the life out of the electric oven control module. That just needed swapped out. I am hopeful by the time I comment Whirlpool has initiated the process of making things right. When stuff like this needs to be dealt with on a Monday, I try to look at it like weâve gotten the bad stuff out of the way early, and the rest of the week will be much happier. Have a good one, Monika!
I totally get it. Adulting is the pits, but especially on a Monday following a lovely weekend.
Back 20 years ago, this country actually made good major appliances. Now theyâre built with planned obsolescence built in. A wedding gift from 1967 last over 30 years and was only replaced by a heavy stand mixer. Repairman will be here late tomorrow so weâll see what the verdict is then. I suspect itâs gonna require ordering parts that will take who knows how long to get from overseas. Sigh. I wonder if I can still find a wash board on Etsy? Swallowing the bad medicine early in the week makes the rest easy on the palate. đ€đŒ Hope yours is swell and not too cold. We hoping for some white stuff later this week.
This adulting takes constant time and attention to keep it from building up to impossible proportions. Work is the major component, but there are always other things to add to the mix.
Boy, ainât that the truth! Despite the advances in technology, adulting can be very challenging. Some days I just want to âPeter Panâ instead. đ Happy Monday.
Yesterday I was on hold with Comcast for 10 minutes and got disconnected. đ
Thatâs the worst partâŠwaiting and then getting disconnected. So sorry.
When that maddeningly indifferent automated message begins with âYour call is very important to usâ, I reply with âNo, my call is very important to ME. If it really was that important to YOU, I wouldnât be speaking to an X-Box!â.
Sorry about the Whirlpool nonsense. I relate.
Adulting only makes sense after I pour myself a cold one, really.
Hereâs to a better rest of the week.
Thanks, Marc. Whenever one receives that message, I suddenly turn into an eye-rolling, recalcitrant teenager. The quest for profits is so consuming with many corporations and while I get the importance of it, discounting the very people who make it possible, really gets my dander up. It just seems absurd to wait for a customer service rep for nearly an hour. At least some companies will include a message that they will call you back âbecause they value your time.â That, I can at least respect. Have a good week.
Hahaha!
Yeah I am so done with the selling of everything, everywhere, all the time. And like you said, itâs all coming with a cost. To people who do not deserve that cost to be taken out on them.
Happy Wednesday mama
Thatâs so very frustrating. I did a âfunâ adulting today and went to get my nails done. (Only the 2nd time since 2014) Or maybe that was actually playing. đ
Good for you! Iâll bet they look fabulous, too. Hereâs hoping the rest of the week is that lovely.
Hope youâll get it fixed soon Monika and may your week get better and better đ€â€ïžđ xxx
Many thanks. Itâll get fixed-it just may take some time and patience on my part.
Seems silly to be forced to repair a new item, but thatâs how it is these days. I hope it is not the motherboard, too. Those things take forever. We had a Thermador refrigerator in our last house. The motherboard went out at the five-year mark. Thermador, of course, had discontinued that model but offered to create a new board for $1600.00.(or buy a new refrigerator for $6000.) I found a company that repairs motherboards and sent it to them. It was back in 3 days for $90.00. If it is the board, I hope they have the part. If not, tell them to order a new on on Amazon
Appliance manufacturers leave a lot to be desired these days. Yikes, I cannot believe they actually âofferedâ that kind of a deal. Talk about no shame. A repair person will be here Wednesday, I hope itâs not a motherboard (my neighbor has had multiple problems with his, and continues to wait from the request to replace it last September! {Gulp}
Guud Luck Miss Monika. Wee hope you get thingss sorted out an fixed.
BellaSita adulted alot today: Shee shovelled snow; fedd THE Flying 126 Squadron (Sparrowss); did dishess; put rest of laundry away; cleened bathroom an meowed to a frend an Aunty Melinda an answered textssâŠ.Whew Iâm tired just watchin her zoomie aroundâŠâŠ
Happy Monday Miss Monika an Wilson <3 BellaDharma <3 an {{hugss}} BellaSita Mum
Thank you; I hope it can be resolved easily enough but with my luck, Iâm not overly optimistic. Tell your mum to slow down a bit-Rome wasnât built in a day. đ
Mew mew mew mee meowed that to her an shee did lie down an restâŠand fell asleep đ Mew mew mewâŠ
Good to hear that. Rest is even more important for people and pets who experience seizures. Hugs and tail wiggles.
And what is adulting anyways??
I donât have to pretend to be an adult until Friday when I have to go to my workâŠwhich these days is about 3-4 times a monthâŠI love working as a casual instead of on a regular schedule.
Itâs very liberating when you can do that. The last year I worked at the law firm was excruciatingly hard for me. Lots of stuff going on at home (my mom was very sick and I drove down to spend the weekends with her and wore myself out). Add a demanding boss who only cared about results and I got so burnt out. I was never so glad as to give my notice even though I loved my colleagues.
I wish you all the best for your whirlpool. Sounds like youâre going down the whirlpool of phone tag and other horrors with your washer. UGH.
Letâs hope the other appliances that came with your home last longer than your washer!
We have a Kenmore water and dryer bought in 1987, and they still are giving us good service. Even though sears is no longerâŠEach time we need service of any kind for them they take one look and say,â wow, you have these still? Donât get rid of them anytime soon!â
They just donât make them like in the past, it seems they are made with built in timers to break down after a certain amount of time! Grrr! Letâs hope our fridge which is years younger doesnât kink out, its a hard to find size these daysâŠWe just had our stove (oven) repaired and the repairman said the same thing about that appliance. He said the âstartersâ in them eventually burn out ours was from the late 90âsâŠ
Thanks. They sure donât make them like they used to. I had a Sunbeam hand mixer that I got as a wedding gift back in 1967. Itâs lasted over 30 years!
I had bought a new fridge for my old house a year ago and had a devil of a time finding one that would fit in my narrow space. I think I only found 3 models. Just wish we made things like we used to instead of the expensive garbage that we see now.
We donât like adulting here either. Being retired we donât do much, but there are times.
I linked this post to Awww Mondays.
Have a fabulous day and week. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. â„
Many thanks for including us in your hop. Adulting is hard, especially if youâre a kid at heart. đ Happy Monday.
Iâm sorry about your appliance. I have no suggestion. Sometimes the dealership will intervene but now sure if they still do that. Good luck. I need a break from adulting.
The home builder supplies the appliances for the entire development (they were included in the purchase price). I just hope a remedy can be quickly and effectively be found. I donât need this kind of aggravation.
They sure donât make appliances like they used to do. Our dishwasher is having issues just 3 days after the warranty expired.
AwkâŠthat would be adding insult to injury! Youâre so right, these appliance manufacturers donât make things like they used to. I remember having a hand mixer that I received as a wedding gift in 1967-it last over 30 years!
So sorry about your dishwasher. Iâve only washed 3 loads of laundry since I moved inâŠI honestly thought itâd last longer.
Adulting, no thanks. đ Like Jimmy Buffett says, grow older but not up. Lots of songs written about or with Monday. Come Monday (Jimmy), Monday Monday ( Mamas and the Papas), Monday Morning (Fleetwood Mac). I hope Whirlpool at least has some good hold music for ya. Have a great week, in spite of, the house hiccups, out at The Barn.
Thanks Mike. I think they decided to no longer pay royalties for music, I just got to listen to recording repeatedly telling me where to find the model and serial numbers. I felt like I could have built a new washer in the amount of time I was on hold. I share Jimmy Buffettâs thoughts about growing up. Happy Monday.
I decided at age 21 I didnât want to be an adult so like Peter Pan did not ever grow up, not really. And sorry: once upon a time, lived in St. Joseph/Stevensville, Michigan and our next door neighbor? HQ for Whirlpool, maybe coulda helped. But no longer there and donât think they are either (gone offshore, maybe even sunk when went off-shore, ha ha). So all we can say is best wishes, good luck and happy laundering/washing/drying or cooking (whatever the WP was supposed to do for you!).
Thanks for the good luck wishes. Yeah, sadly we no longer make things in the states. Everyone went offshore to boost profits. Now to boast profits, they try to sell you an extended warranty. Grrrr
Mom dislikes Mondays because it means time to work again. Thankfully it is her own business and we all hang out with her in the home office all day but she would rather do fun stuff! As for the appliance, there is no more customer service in this country. Humans have been replaced with a rabbit hole of recorded messages, some that talk to you. It makes Mom so very mad as it wastes so much time and the recordings say how nice it isâŠNOT! Most of the time, talking to a person would have solved the issue in a few minutes but no, you are stuck in the automated system forever and accomplish nothing! Can you call the store where the appliance was purchased and get help that way? Good luck!
Thank you. I think Iâm going to need a lot of luck. Yeah, it took forever to be connected with a real live person and then it was the wrong department so I chad to wait again. I just wish manufacturers made products like they used to. Now itâs just thrown together with spit, a prayer and luck. Unfortunately the builder has an arrangement for the appliances they supply. At first I thought it was a good idea, now Iâm regretting that it came with the house. A service guy is coming out on Wednesday and will no doubt need to order a part (or motherboard). Meanwhile, the dirty clothes pile up. Eek!
Lulu: âIt seems like our Dada ALWAYS has to go to work on Monday âŠâ
Java Bean: âSĂ, but at least all of our appliances are so old that if one breaks down our Dada calls the local repairman, not the manufacturer, right?â
I wish Iâd kept the washer from the old house. Sigh. Service guy comes out on Wednesday. I hope itâs something minor but suspect itâll be a motherboard. Not a fan of these electronic appliances.
Nor mine! I remember the oven we had in FranceâŠ..every thunderstorm knocked it out and it finally met its end when it imprisoned Leoâs supper. He took a screwdriver to itâŠ..
Iâm looking for a sledgehammer. Itâs probably in one of the boxes in the garage. đŹ
we agree⊠moandays are ⊠like moandaysâŠ
You can say that again, at least today. Iâm moaning a lot after being on hold for an hour before Whirlpool finally talked to me. Todayâs adulting is muy no bueno.
Somethings up with the manufacturing of equipment. Itâs not like the old days. Our brand spanking new Bravia TV took about five calls to techniciansâsome in Franceâto fix. Some could help; some ran us in circles. Good luck! You hope buying a name brand will work, like Whirlpool. Sigh.
Nearly all appliances are manufactured overseas these days and youâd be right observing that itâs not like the âgood old days.â My old washer was over 20 years old and worked just fine. I only replaced it because my son moved and had a brand new washer that he gave me. These corporations charge a chunk for them at purchase and then want you to pay for additional warranty coverage. Itâs crazy! I guess I shouldnât be so cranky, itâs a first world problem, but sheeshâŠ
Happy Monday, Jacqui. Hope itâs grand.
Hang tough. After all, many times customer service is not that.
Hiya, Frank. Thatâs definitely an understatement. Youâd think a brand new appliance would last longer than a month. Good grief.
Oh! And good luck with Whirlpool!
Thanks. I think I could have built a new one in the time it took to get a customer service rep on the phone. This does not bode well. đŹ
Jeez⊠you are right, that does not bode well at all!
I suspect it will get worse before it gets resolved. đŹ
Oh no. I hope not.
After three weeks off, here I am at the office. Why did I come to the office? Good question. It is 9:30 and I am still the only one here. Should I still be the only one here by 10, I shall pick up my stuff and go work from home. To hell with this!
Oh gosh, sorry. I think your solution is perfectly logical. Hope youâre able to ease into the Monday. đ€đŒ
Three of them showed up by 10ish so⊠all is good đ
What is the expressionâŠmisery loves company? đ
Yes indeed! Kept me here despite the snow that was meant to start around 1⊠oh wait⊠it looks like it has startedâŠ
Safe travels home. And feel free to send any extra snow our way. Itâs bone dry here and windy again today making it even more dry.
Thank you. Thankfully, a lot are still not back at work. Fingers crossed. The wind isnât too bad so that will help.
So sorry about Whirlpool. We bought all new kitchen appliances when we redid the kitchen 1 1/2 year ago, and we actually bought the storeâs five year warranties for everything. Seems like we would have more pull with them versus the manufacturer, but who knows. Iâm hoping we donât need to find out!
I generally donât buy extended warranties but after hearing all the horror stories about Whirlpool, I may reconsider. Seems crazy you have to buy coverage for a brand new appliance. If the appliances hadnât been part of the contract, Iâd switch to a more reliable brand. This is absurd. Hereâs hoping you have a good week!
I did my share of adulting last week. As for Whirlpool, I have no good advice. I only hope you have better luck than we did when our brand new washer failed. We had to wait 6 weeks for a part. My wife and I had never been to a laundromat together before đ
Yikes! Thatâs not good. One of my neighbors said they had a similar issue and theyâve been waiting since September for a backordered motherboard. He told me this problem is well known with Whirlpool. Oy.
Have a good Monday, Dan.
Our was also the motherboard.
đ€ŠđŒââïž
I try to do a minimum of adulting every day but somehow I wind up âhavingâ to at least once. Calling an appliance manufacturer directly is like being on a merry go round. I have better luck calling the store I bought something from and reminding them I spend MY money in THEIR store and I need THEIR help resolving a problem. Iâll freely admit it doesnât always work but it works a heckofalot better than that manufacturer wheel of fortune!
Hugs, Pam
All the appliances were new and came with the new house, youâd think they last longer than 30 days. Sheesh. And it took just under an hour on the phone to have them set a service call. đ€ŠđŒââïž
Now the council offices are open, must pay the ratesâŠfirst seeking a shop which sells smelling salts as I am sure they will be needed when I see what they will charge meâŠ..
Good luck with whirlpool!
Good heavens, what is wrong with this world that corporation (and governments) sell sub-standard products/services and expect you to pay more on top of the purchase price. Weâve got our fingers crossed youâre able to easily navigate the issue. Happy Monday. Sounds like many of us are having to do yeomanâs work on a Monday. Yuck.
And when I think that motherâs washing machine lasted for more than twenty years!
The one at my old house did too. It was still working when my son gifted me his when he moved in with his girlfriend. It was a Maytag and worked like a dream-I loved it. These electronic ones are not my favorite.
