Only 46 days until the official start of autumn which is a good thing since it looks the dog is melting out of his bed. Happy mid-week.

  2. Sand Spring Chesapeakes – Cambria, WI – My husband and I have six "furry" children Gambler, Glory, Guilty, Slammer, Gertie and one cat Bones and two furangel's Norman and Nellie. We breed Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. We are both avid hunters. We also enjoy competing with our dogs in hunt tests and field trials. That is where you can find us during the trial months which are April-September. When were not at a trial we are busy training our dogs. We go snow goose hunting in Canada each year and do all the hunting that Wisconsin offers.

  16. Melting into the floor is an excellent metaphor. My dogs are currently lying on the tiled floor, eschewing their beds, anywhere where a bit of coolness can be found. Ottie has figured out which way the a/c blows for maximum impact on his body. This morning, at 7, it was actually nice and breezy and I was able to take them for a walk – otherwise, they are bored stiff.

      Elsa tends to run warmer anyway (probably due to the epilepsy and being a black dog) and has been hanging out near the AC vent too. We’ve been taking our walks before dawn, otherwise the sidewalks are too warm on their pads. Ugh, I’m so over summer.

  25. My Golden Life – Upstate South Carolina – I love animals, especially dogs. I enjoy US history, and reading biographies of our former presidents and other historical figures. I love the music of the '60s and '70s since I was growing up in those decades. I love the Beatles and Andy Williams equally.

    Callie used to sleep like that all the time, no matter the season. And Ducky imitated her favorite older sister as best she could…and perfected the art. Shadow pretty much stays curled up or stretched out on the whole bed, with just her back legs hanging off the edge. But then, Shadow is my “little lady” – front paws crossed, bathroom in private, dainty sips of water, etc.

    I’ve melted into a puddle of chocolate a few times myself this summer. But I worry about our friends in California.
