Monday Musings ~ August 31, 2020

Monday

Spending the weekend with my family on Colorado’s Western Slope while celebrating my Dad’s 90th birthday definitely turned me into a peacock. We hope your weekend was equally as special. What a treat to wake up to crisp cool temps. While driving over the pass, I noticed a small smattering of aspen trees leaning toward their autumnal golden beauty and even noticed some snow dusting on several peaks above timberline. Let the autumnal commencement begin.

Have a great Monday and an even better week!

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. Lulu: “Happy birthday to your dad! And many happy returns!”
Charlee: “Hey Lulu that dog has you beat on the propeller tail effect, I think.”
Lulu: “Maybe so, but that’s because my big fluffy tail has more wind resistance.”

Yes, cooler temps will be most welcome. It’ll be back in the 90’s by Saturday but next week looks very promissing.

        1. They’re still in containment mode and as of today, about 75% contained. It’ll be months before they’re completely put out. It’s rare that humidity is an issue in Colorado. Usually in the city it’s in the lower teens range unless a front comes through.

          1. Mee-yow wow 75% iss a guud start. Mee an LadyMew hope THE firess stay contained an burn themselvess out soon…
Colorado iss lucky to not have hue-midity. Butt you have forest firess to wurry ’bout….mee guessess efurry place has itss’ issuess rite Miss Monika?

    1. Thanks, Ruby. He told me today, he’s working on the next 10. 😁

It was a lovely day in the mountains but the temps will climb back into the 90’s by the weekend. 😕

    1. Even though a warming of temps will arrive by the weekend, I will more than savor these early cool mornings.

  4. Well, that sounds like it was a wonderful weekend!!! We have also noticed lots of trees turning color too, but no snow:(

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

    1. I have never seen trees changing color in the high country in August. Just so weird.

  5. Cheers to your good weekend and bring on the fall colors! Hi Monika. Hope all is well. …. Oh … FYI … I posted the other day over at Sorryless.com

    1. Thanks Frank, I’m a bit behind on reading blog posts, but I’ll catch up (hopefully) sometime later this week. Yes, most definitely bring on autumn! 🍁

    1. Thank you so much for the birthday wishes. He’s been enjoying a few days of celebration and can’t stop grinning with his family around. 😍

    1. It feels so gosh-darn wonderful though I know we’re going to be back in the 90’s by the weekend. *sigh

    1. To reach life in one’s 90’s in good health and vigor is quite the amazing accomplishment. Best wishes on your dad’s birth date.

  6. Denver will be cool before too long. We still have September to get through. Happy 90th to your dad. We celebrated Jeff’s mom’s 90th 3 weeks ago, but today is her birthday.

  7. So jelly of you visiting the high(er) country just when the seasons start to consider changing. Missed our San Juan visit this year…and every place else. Happy B-Day to your Dad!

    1. Getting up into the high country is always a luxury in my mind and while it was jaw-droppingly sober going through Grizzly Gulch and seeing the devastation from the fire, it was a terrific drive over Independence Pass. Sorry you have been unable to keep all of your travels plans; this doggone panDAMNic is playing havoc on seeing great sights near and far. Phooey!

  8. So glad that you are having a wonderful time! Enjoy! And great about the cooler temps. We woke to cooler temps this morning and I thought of you and Fall! 🙂

    1. It was in the mid-40’s and a true joy sitting on the patio drinking coffee watching osprey and blue hurons and loving every crisp minute of it!

    1. Thank you, Helen for the lovely wishes. Reaching 90 and remaining in good health along with such vigor is quite the accomplishment. And to share it with your family was his best wishes come true.

  9. What a wonderful weekend you had. Good for you.

Our tree out front is showing some autumn, but the temps aren’t. I’m so ready for some clean and cooler air.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. Scritches to the pups. ♥

    1. It’s always wonderful when you can turn yourself into a peacock. Have a great week, Sandee!

    1. Yay for you guys! We have a couple of weeks before it official arrives but we’re soooo looking forward to it 🍁

    1. Thank you. It’s been just the respite we all needed. It was downright chilly yesterday morning.

  10. Happy 90th to your Dad and many more!…. I’m usually a “Summer Guy” But this 95 and above weather has been relentless and I think I’m ready for Autumn. There is a slight scent of it in the air in the early mornings which has been welcome. Have a nice week back at The Ranch.

    1. Thanks, Michael. Yes, the unrelenting heat has had me waving the white flag of surrender. I’ll welcome autumn with glee.
