Monday Musings ~ March 4, 2024

Today’s post is an homage to Sock Monkey Day which occured over the weekend. Speaking of weekends, where the heck did it go? Most of mine was all about getting my taxes done (don’t ask, it was 5 hours I’ll never get back at one of those first come, first serve tax prep places for seniors that don’t make appointments-I even arrived 2 hours before they opened, and it still took all morning), today’s Monday pic pretty much describes how I feel. Monday

At least the “Pony” humored me (notice Elsa also left her trademark calling card by removing an ear). Here’s hoping Monday treats you well and you don’t suck at poetry.

Sock Monkey

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. Charlee: “I knocked Dada’s coffee mug over today and spilled coffee all over him and some of his computer equipment. I’m not sure if he was sadder about having to mop up the mess or all the wasted caffeine …”

    1. Yeah, that’s gotta be a real conundrum for sure, Charlee. Hope nothing was damaged.

    1. Thank you. That trio of crocuses pic always makes me smile so it only seemed proper to watercolorize them. I’m with you on tax prep. Last year I did the initial training class to prepare returns and thought I’d end up hurting someone the closer I got to the end of the class. Yikes…it’s so complicated and answers are really hard to find. Sigh.

      Benji…Elsa says you and her are blood relatives. She thinks every stuffie needs to be redesigned. She says they don’t need to hear…they’re stuffies. LOL

  2. ROFM/ROFL!!!!

    ~~~head rubss~~~BellaDharma~~~ an ***giggellss*** BellaSita Mum
    1. When it comes to Monday’s we thought that was a most appropriate poem…even if it doesn’t rhythm. 😂
    1. It sure fit for us this week. Monday’s are hard enough, add tax preparation and well…seemed more than A-OK to us!
  3. That was fun! We don’t have any sock monkeys here but we have three kittens that sometimes act like monkeys.
    1. Bwahahaha…little ones, be they kitties or pupsters ARE little monkeys at times. That’s why we love them so. 💙
  4. thank you for your kindness to me and my family and for stopping by to say good bye as I start my tenth life in heaven. loves from dai$y 🌸 and we hope you are
    safe, we here the weather in your state is crazy with snow ❄️
    1. I hope my Angels Norman & Sam give you a nice tour while you keep an eye on your parents from afar.
      As for the weather, the mountains are getting some snow but here in the city, spring is beginning to emerge. Hugs and tail wags ❤️‍🩹
    1. It’s always a relief. Just wish it wasn’t so doggone challenging. I’m convinced IRS rules are written in Yugoslavian. 🙂
    1. Yup, it’s a bit like having a double root canal, one on each side! LOL
  5. Chia: I’m a poet of the first degree, except when I’m bloated and have to pee. (he, he)
    Lucy: Hi Wilson. That’s so sweet that you like the sock monkey. I just never got into suffies.
    1. Wils understands about not being into stuffies. He first looked at that sock monkey and wasn’t all that keen about him. Then he decided a nap might make him go away.
      Chia…you ARE quite the poet. And that makes us smile.
        1. 🐶 ‘Staging’…I like that. I guess you could say it was a manual form of AI. LOL
    1. This one is missing one ear and I noticed there’s a hole next to an eye. Brand new and already well broken in by Elsa (empathis on the broken part. 😂
    1. I always hate having that task hanging over my head. It’s good to have it in the rear view mirror now. There are other things to worry about. 😉
  6. Hubby finished ours yesterday. I already know how much I owe.
    Love the funny. That’s me too.
    Pony is your new pup? How did I miss that?
    I linked this post to Awww Mondays as always.
    Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups and a hug to you. ♥
    1. ‘Pony’ is Wilson’s nickname which I call him most of the time since he’s so big. He was officially adopted a couple of weeks ago. Yup, I’m a foster fail. 🤣 Happy Monday Sandee and thanks for adding us to your Monday link.
  7. Oh love the artwork…..one of my favorite signs of Spring! Tax time – eek – husband does that in a few weeks. I’ll be waiting at home with a stiff drink when he returns. Happy Monday!
    Hugs, Pam
    1. Dealing with taxes almost always requires a stiff drink! Thanks for the kind comment on the near header. Figured we should think ‘spring’ instead of snow. 😉 Happy Monday.
  8. Love your crocuses!
    I haven’t yet brought my paraphernalia into the accountant’s as I am still waiting for papers… sigh…
    1. Yeah, it always seems like there’s always one place you’re waiting for paperwork. Ugh. Happy Monday anyway. 💙
  9. Argh…. Taxes! Maybe work off some of that frustration by throwing a tea bag off a ship? Well at least it’s behind you know. Now onto having a good week at the ranch with your ranch hands.
    1. Yes, very glad tax prep is in the rear view mirror. Also hate having that adult responsibility hanging over my head. Have a great week, Mike.
  10. That kind of waiting stuff makes our mom steam too! She has to go to the ER yesterday, dreaded it as last time it was 4 hours. She had good luck this time and was out in under 2 hours. All that waiting time for cars, doctors, taxes is such a time suck!
    1. That kind of waiting underscores the principle of supply and demand even more these days. I always try to bring a book with me. It wouldn’t have been so bad if I’d been more prepared while queuing up with a warm jacket outside. We were all shivering like a bunch of sparrows on a fence.
    1. Thanks, Helen. I’ve gone to these sites since I retired. They do a great job, the volunteers are so dedicated and the need is so great. Like everything else these days, there’s more demand than supply. I didn’t really mind the wait (I brought a book) but waiting outside in 35ºF weather without a jacket for an hour was tough. They only take 50 people and only do it on Saturday’s at that location. I loved the neighborhood when I lived on that side of town but found it’s uber gentrified, which was incredibly heartbreaking. Lots of Victorians and Italian architectured homes have been bulldozed and replaced with Lego mansions. The folks however were warm, inviting and especially made me want to become fluent in Spanish to make it easier to understand the complexities of my returns and to be respectful.
        1. The people there made it for me. The destruction of the neighborhood and waiting outside without a coat, not so much. I suppose if there’s a plus side, there’ll be a refund in 10-14 days. 🤞🏼 Happy Monday.
    1. Thanks, Debra. There will be a refund but like each year since the revision of the tax code, it’s gotten smaller. When it sunsets in 2026, there are going to be a lot of unhappy middle class folks who are going to be very upset. Corporations will continue to enjoy the gravy but not the rest of us.
    1. Aww, thanks Amy-you’re too kind. Thought it time to be a bit more springlike. Happy Monday.
  11. That’s a lot of time for taxes. I spent 2 hours and have probably another hour for review and state. Then it’s done for another year. We had a very warm Sunday. Somehow my tax day always falls on the first warm day of the year. You would think I’d have more control on my schedule!
    1. Life is funny like that. 90% of the wait was it’s a first come-first serve site. Fifty people in line (I was #34) and only 15 preparers. It was quite chilly when I queued up (without a jacket 🥶) but left just in time for Saturday brunch and all the Gen Z’ers and millennials who have taken over the neighborhood. It was in the 50’s by then.
  12. Mondays have never bothered me much. I work at home so I don’t commute, and I always have so much to do that there isn’t really much difference between them and any other day. Which is both good and bad, I suppose …
    1. Even when I worked, I realized if the work week began on Tuesday, Tuesday would be the miserable day. Being retired has it’s advantages-every day seems like Saturday. 😉 Hope yours is grand.
