Monday Moanings ~ February 17, 2025

It’s another Monday and I can’t help but wonder what happened to the weekend. Oh sure, winter returned…that part I was keenly aware of but the time…it just seemed to go poof and it was gone. As I was looking for a smile for today, I came across this and audibly said, ‘yup, that’s the one.’

Monday smileHere’s hoping Mother Nature comes to her senses and settles down. We could use a bit of ‘false spring’ that February often shares. We’re tired of ‘second winter.’

We hope your Monday, however you enjoy it, is good to you. In fact, we would love nothing more than everyone enjoying Charlie Brown’s desire. Stay warm, stay happy and make it a great week, with whatever ole Mother Nature manages to hand out.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. We are soooo ready for it. At this point, winter seems like it’d be warm compared to what we’ve been experiencing!

        1. So sorry. Wish I could make it all go away…to Alaska where they can use it for polar bears.

    1. We sure are. Just heard the forecast and it’s not looking good for the middle of the country and up the eastern seaboard. Stay safe and warm!

  2. Yup, that’s the one!

    I can’t believe it’s mid-February already. I also can’t believe I went from 85 degrees to not 85 degrees. Willingly! I kid though . . mostly.

Thank you for making some funny out of Monday

  3. We are heading into below freezing nights. Looks like about a week of it including some lows in the teens. I think we ought to pitch in and get Mother Nature a spa treatment. She really seems uneasy for sure.

  4. We’ve had a mild winter here. Not enough rain, but that’s pretty much normal. I hope things get better.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups and a big hug to mom. ♥

    1. Thanks for hooking us up to your Monday blog hop. Winter has been coming in waves since November. February seems unseasonably cold. I’d take the snow over the cold any day. Hope you have a great week, dear Sandee. Hugs and tail wags.

    1. These days, it’s never enough. The past few storms have brought small amounts of snow but even less moisture. It almost seems fake! Happy Monday.

  5. Around here, it seems like Mother Nature has opened the windows to blow the dust out. We have high sustained winds (which NOAA calls ‘breezy’) and gusts around 45mph. I think maybe she needs some Xanax.

If this comment is duplicated, it’s WP’s fault, not mine.

    1. WP has been acting up a lot lately. Nearly half of all my comments get rejected with that annoying message “can’t post your comment at this time” (that’s paraphrased mind you). But rest assured, no duplicate comment.

With all that’s happened lately in DC, I can’t help but wonder if they’ve outsourced weather reports to AI because of all the firings/layoffs. Maybe your suggestion that Xanax just might be a suitable solution might just be a step in the right direction. At this point, how could it hurt?

        1. With the latest WP update, I’ve noticed more and more problems. I continue to keep asking them to stop ‘fixing’ things that aren’t broken. 😉

            1. It happened again. Nothing like receiving the “Sorry, this comment cannot be posted” message first thing in the morning. Grrrr. My renewal payment comes up next week, I’m seriously considering withholding payment because this happens far too frequently. If you try to refresh the page, you received a “This Page Isn’t Working” response. Let’s just pour salt into the wound, shall we? 😡

              1. I just contacted WP about this-they said they’d refer it up the food chain. Not that I expect things to change any time soon but they generously extended my paid subscription for a month as a gesture of good faith. Better than a sharp stick in the eye which is how I feel every time I receive that “Sorry, this comment cannot be posted” message. Your’s and John Howell’s sites are pretty much a given with receiving that message (among a few others) and I stupidly forget to copy my comment so I don’t have to recreate the wheel. Life shouldn’t be that hard. Maybe the ‘squeaky wheel’ will get the grease yet. 😉

                1. I filed an IT ticket with the Happiness folks. We’ll see what the code writing developers do.

    1. Thanks, Frank. After hearing the news from Kentucky, I realize we don’t have any problems.

  6. Put me and The Girls down as a resounding YES for false Spring. Not a long one. Just enough to bridge the gap from now until around mid April. For now we’re hanging tough at The Golden K. Hope you and the Ranch Hands do the same. Have a good week!

    1. At least false spring could dry up the mud and grime from melting snow. Glad you guys are hanging in there. Hope you have a good week. The weather seems universally unpleasant across the country, I’m just now hearing about all the problems in Kentucky and realize we have no real problems.

  7. We got totally dumped on with snow…again. and the temp is in the teens. makes me want to huddle up and do nothing. come on Mother Nature! Give us a break!!

    1. We only received enough snow to shovel the walks, maybe a couple of inches. If it’s gonna snow, give us snow-not those puny flakes! The bad part (apart from the extra cold temps) is when it melts it turns a once very clean sheepdog into a dreary grey mess. I nothing yesterday after his walk, Wilson no longer had white legs-they were the same as his body! Argh.

  8. It’s Winter after all, and we are going to have our share of snow. Got a skiff as the weather persons call it, last night, My deck barely had the lightest of covering, But we are supposed to have a good snow Wednesday. Ugh. Got my gardenias and camellias covered.

    1. That’s about what we received over the weekend. I think the hyacinths near our side door that started to peek through the ground have retreated or are at least rethinking about growing for now. We’ll keep our paws crossed your gardenias and camellias stay safe. Happy Monday.

  9. My Mom says she thinks Mother Nature is “going through the change” – whatever THAT means. All I know is I wish Spring would hurry up and make all this cold go away. I have plenty of padding but I don’t like my cold feet!

    Huggies, Teddy

  10. You can keep the spring stuff we don’t want any of that for at least a month. It only makes more of a mess than anything. We are enjoying our bitter cold and pretty snow for now. This is our kind of weather. Our weekends always disappear way too fast but Mondays seem more like several days!

    1. I’d happily enjoy more snow-we can always use the moisture, but wind and single digits…sorry, not a fan.

  11. I’m sure ready for some nicer weather, but at least snow/sleet not predicted for this week (predicted being the key word here.) But the wind is howling today and sending everything flying. Gracie’s ears look pretty funny flying in the wind on her walks! She looks like the Flying Nun (remember that show with Sally Fields?) and she might just take off any time now.

    1. Yes, I DO remember that show-bet Gracie is adorable in the wind! Bitter cold returned with lows in the single digits, the forecast calls for snow which is ok (we always can use the moisture), just am not crazy about the cold temps. It’s going to be a crummy week for weather-hopefully it doesn’t impact folks in the northeast.

        1. We’re spoiled with all our sunny, clear days so when it’s cloudy (like it is today), 20’s seem extra chilly. I’m hoping the forecast is wrong and we can move closer to the day when spring is literally around the corner rather than a titch over a month away.

    1. At this point, I don’t think she’s listening to anyone (I screwed up, apparently that’s Charlie Brown so I changed it). The weather has scrambled my brain.

  12. In our area Mother Nature has definitely been off her meds. I suspect she is in the islands at a tiki bar with my muse having a helluva good time. Listen closely and you can hear the steel drums.

    1. It’s just not fair we’re huddled together like a flock of sparrows with no necks while Nature is off sipping margaritas!

    1. That’s Charlie Brown, my friends, not Linus. But we forgive you for the mixup. After all, it is Moanday. 😁

I have some making-up to do with the Z kids (especially Zoey) this morning. I confess I got bent out of shape this morning and yelled at them over something stupid. But they’re both so sweet, so forgiving, so loving. 💜❤️‍🩹💚❤️‍🩹 I don’t deserve them sometimes.

      1. Eek. We’ll fix that! The weather has taken any sense I had away. In any event, we hope you have a good Monday.

      2. PS. I could do with some springtime myself. The weather here has been like a seesaw since the middle of January – frigidly cold for a week or two, then a week of spring, then back to frigid, then back to spring. Enough already! This up-down, up-down stuff is insane! No wonder so many of my friends and their kids are coming down with the flu!!

        1. Yeah, it’s been the same here. I really don’t mind the snow, just the bitter cold temps which seem very intense. I think there’s about 31 days until spring is supposed to arrive.

Feel free to bark your thoughts...but please no growling.
