Monday Musings ~ March 3, 2025

Happy first Monday of March. Neither Elsa or I are 100% healthy yet but are holding our own. You may correctly surmise that I’m improving with a scrappy greeting to today’s weather forecast by yelling (as much as one can with no voice) to today’s weather forecast, “bring it on” as the Ranch braces for the first spring storm arriving later this afternoon. Spring storms in Colorado are normal and welcome in March as they tend to drop a lot of moisture and melt fairly quickly. With 17 days until the official arrival of spring, we’ll see if Nature goes along with the forecast of 8-14 inches of white stuff. In the meantime, let’s enjoy a lighthearted look at life.

In accordance with Colorado consumer law, I recently received aĀ  notification from the LexisNexis Consumer Center indicating I was eligible for a free disclosure copy of my credit report so today’s smile ironically seems in line with what our pets face all the time. It came as a rather big surprise since I wasn’t aware of LexisNexis (you can click on the link to reach their website to see if you’re interested in checking out) having a presence in the credit reporting arena, being only aware of the big 3: Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Looks like the day won’t be a total loss as I learned something new and discovered there’s yet another place to check to keep my online identity safe in this age of online theft, scammers and mischief makers. Anyway, hope it’s a lighthearted look for you to start out the week. Wishing all is well wherever you’re located and this smile allows youĀ  to usher the week in with a little chuckle. Happy Monday.

  1. Java Bean: “Ayyy, we never thought about this, but they’re right! Anyone could pretend to be us!”
Charlee: “They could, but why would they want to?”
Java Bean: “Well, you know what they say. On the Internet, nobody knows you’re a dog!”

    1. Do you guys think imitation is the great form of flattery when it comes to pet identity?

        1. WP has been acting up again with a number of bloggers who I follow and vice versa. It’s so frustrating. I’m really sorry. There are some I cannot comment on unless I do it in Safari. And then there are others that will only allow me to comment in Chrome. Ugh. It all seems to start when they introduced the Block editor. Yuck.

            1. Us too. It’s sooooo troublesome and difficult. I tried it twice and thought I was going to fling my laptop out in the street. Talk about frustrating! And it took forever to get what would normally take 15 minutes three times as long. Not my favorite.

                1. After each foray with Block, I returned to the Classic editor. There’s enough to do in life without making life that much more complicated. I just pray they don’t eliminate it any time soon. If they do, I’ll be leaving WP for good.

    1. They were. Looks like the storm veered to the north of us. March is our snowiest month so there’s plenty of time for them to get it right. šŸ˜‰

    1. Thanks. I’m better but Elsa is not doing well. She went on a new antibiotic yesterday but I’m not hopeful as she is refusing to eat or drink anything as of this morning. I think she’s worn out from being sick for so long. I am heartbroken.

We received only rain and maybe 3 flakes of snow fell-the storm veered north.

  3. I always thought Lexis Nexis was more used by insurance companies to check credit. I’ve never had insurance run through any of the three major agencies, which is weird.

Hope you and Elsa feel better. We are definitely ready for spring!

    1. Thanks for the well wishes. Her pneumonia has been quite stubborn to get rid of but hoping yesterday’s latest vet visit will get her on the right track. I had only dealt with LexisNexis connection with legal research so it was quite surprise to hear from them but from what I learned, they provide data and technology services, analytics, predictive insights, and fraud prevention for a wide range of industries. Learn something new everyday.

  4. Sending BIG healing huggies AND a BIG thanks for that cartoon because it made us laugh and having a laugh makes all the sad/bad stuff go away – – even if it’s just for a minute or two!!!

    Love, Teddy and Mom Pam

    1. Many thanks, Teddy and Mom. We so appreciate all the good energy from you both.

  5. “we’ll see if Nature goes along with the forecast of 8-14 inches of white stuff”…well I am hoping so. We’ll be visiting Colorado in less than two weeks for a ski-trip (Breckenridge)

    1. You may be in luck, Thomas. The mountains are expecting snow but blizzard conditions will exist over the next couple of days. I’ll keep my fingers crossed the ski conditions will be favorable for your visit.

    1. Thanks. It’s been hard to get well…for both me and Elsa. She spiked a fever this afternoon and is on new meds. I hope they make her feel better and we can nip this pneumonia in the bud.

    1. Thanks Dan. I’m doing better than Elsa-we’ve been at the vet’s all afternoon. So far only rain but tomorrow may have blizzard conditions. We’ll see.

    1. Thank you for the well wishes. She especially needs all the good juju she can get. Spent this afternoon at the vet’s again. She spiked a fever and has lost weight. It’s not looking good for her.

    1. Thank you, Terry. Elsa’s had a set back and I’m just hoping we can get her turned around. Glad you enjoyed the smile. It made me chuckle out loud.

  6. Let’s hope the coming snow won’t set you back in the healing dept, and here’s to feeling much better both you and Elsa. Keep doing your therapy work on your sis and mom, Wilson, they sure do need it!

That cartoon is funny, but apt! Now there is a hack warning about the CAPTCHA thing that pops up on some pages, sheesh, what next??!

    1. Many thanks for the well wishes on the status of health around the Ranch. Elsa has another appointment this afternoon and hopefully the vet can get her feeling better soon.

Argh..CAPTCHA is infected? Ugh. These people cannot suffer enough bad fortune.

  7. It was a fun look at identity theft, Monika. So many of the people who have my critical information have been breached, I have free credit reports and credit monitoring seemingly forever. I hope you have a super week and can stay warm.

    1. Thanks John. Watching one’s identity is nearly a full time job with all these low-lifes trying to steal data and greenbacks. #bastards
      Happy Monday.

  8. Around here these has been a continuing Red Flag day…fire possibility up to ‘high’. Very dry, very windy…

    1. It’s breezy today and beginning to cloud up so with a little luck we’ll get some moisture to tamp down the dust from things drying out with the above average temperatures. Stay safe and have a great Monday!

    1. It’s windy here too and starting to cloud up-hopefully there’ll be some moisture to keep the dust down. šŸ¤žšŸ¼ Here’s hoping it’s a good Monday!

  9. Ha, yes! Gotta watch out for ID theft!
Hope you weather the storm with aplomb and are soon feeling back to your healthy selves once again. šŸ¤žšŸ¼

  10. Always good to keep an eye on your credit report. One of the big 3 companies mixed me up with someone else who had similar identifying info as me. Took YEARS before it was resolved. Every once in a while I still get junk mail addressed to the other person.

    1. Oy…fixing those errors can be a real challenge. I’ve battened down the hatches as tight as I can and just hope someone doesn’t make a mistake. Here’s hoping it’s a mistake free week!

  11. Haha! The link doesn’t work for me so it’s surely ‘Murican only.

Happy Monday and may both of you keep feeling better! xoxo

    1. Thanks Dale. Good point-I hadn’t thought of that minor detail. I personally consider Canadians as friends and neighbors, despite the current political regime’s absurdness regarding ‘youse’ guys. Happy Monday.

        1. We continue to hope those MAGA knuckleheads come to their senses soon. šŸ¤žšŸ¼

            1. Just heard about the effective date on the stupid tariffs with Canada and Mexico. My good gawd, what is wrong with that buffoon?? Lord help us.

                1. He’s ruining EVERYTHING he touches. Always has but now he feels like he emboldened and can do whatever he wants. It’s tragic I tell ya.

                  1. They are (coz they are quite the trio). I can only hope his comeuppance is fierce and that the GOOD people of the States don’t suffer too badly.

                    1. We’re all going to suffer from this moron. Let’s just hope we can hold steady and not go collectively under.

  12. Haha. I wouldn’t put it past one of the fertile and sneaky cats next door to try to scam my girls. Fortunately Kloe hates all cats for no good reason other than, well, other than their cats! Sending you well wishes for better health and weather!

    1. Thanks for the well wishes, Michael. I think Wilson may be in the same camp as Kloe but suspect it’s because he thinks all fast darting critters are squirrels and he despises squirrels. Happy Monday.

  13. Haha on the cartoon! Yup! šŸ˜‚
Sending (((hugs))to you and virtual treats to Elsa, hoping you will be back to 100 percent soon! šŸ’•

    1. Thanks, Carolyn. We keep hoping good health is just around the corner. Glad you enjoyed today’s smile. Happy Monday.

  14. March, the crazy month, kinda/sorta … always a guessing game from one day to the next! All that aside: well wishes being sent to you, to sweet Elsa (oops, not that you aren’t sweet as well) … and, well, keep on marching.

    1. Oh yes, March can be wicked. We received over 2 feet of snow the second year I lived in this house. Eek! It took days to dig out of that one. Thanks for the well wishes; I’m doing better and hope Elsa starts to feel better soon.

    1. Thanks guys. We’re hopeful there’s good health in the very near future. Happy Monday.

    1. Glad you enjoyed today’s smile. There are so many hoops you have to go through these days. All because some people think it’s better to cheat people out of their hard work. Grr. There aren’t enough bad things that can happen to those low-life’s. Happy Monday, Kate.

  15. I hope you feel better soon. Big healing hugs.

Love the funny. I laughed out loud.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. Scritches to the pups and healing hugs to you. ♄

    1. Many thanks, Sandee. Glad today’s smile tickled you. It cracked me up as well. And, as always, thank you for hooking us up on your Monday hop. Hope it’s a great week for you.

    1. Thanks, Debra. I just pray it’s not too heavy-that’s how I sustained the bicep injury! Hope you begin to feel better soon. Happy Monday.
