We hope you had a wonderful weekend but now it’s time to prepare for the week. With less than two weeks until Thanksgiving arrives in the US, preparations are beginning to become more apparent all over the neighborhood. Some folks have decided to blend the last holiday with the upcoming one. Despite the addition of yet another inflatable, I thought it was kind of clever despite the addition of yet another inflatable to their growing collection. Wilson simply wants to know what will be served. How are you getting ready for Thanksgiving?

I have to consider the vegan son…I have a small turkey breast, but no big bird. Just got our oven fixed, so it will be better than when it was Easter and the oven wasn’t working…
All my other mains and sides will be vegan…the problem is shall I adapt my recipes or use vegan cook books…they sometimes have really strange ingredients. Though the vegan food I have made/had always tasted good.
Thanks, isn’t it clever?! As a long time vegetarian, Thanksgiving is the only day I miss the lifestyle. But there’s always plenty to eat even with a bird for everyone else. No doubt you’ll have a tasty holiday meal and get to spend it with your son. Win-win!

We always go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house, about an hour drive from here, and cook and serve dinner there. This year, the kitchen is under reconstruction (mouse chewed the dishwasher hose and everything got wet, had to tear it all out) so there will be no cooking. The plan, just this once, is to get Oriental take out. It’s going to be interesting, but at least we will be together.
Oh no, so sorry about the mouse damage. Little sticker. Oriental doesn’t sound bad at all though! Enjoy.

Thanks, Dorothy. Isn’t that a clever repurposing of their Halloween decorations. It’s the start of the busiest time of year. I’m planning on moving shortly after so it’s crazy hectic packing (sadly I wasn’t able to close before) but Wilson & I will enjoy it all the same. Haha, that group of skeletons is really clever. And the tall one has been done up to resemble the wicked witch in the Wizard of Oz (green face). It looks like it’s about to grab that unsuspecting turkey, LOL!

I love this display, Monika. I’ve been on a “mission” to push back on Christmas until after Thanksgiving…letting Halloween and Thanksgiving have their moments in the sun. This is another example where people have blended Halloween and Thanksgiving, and it is pretty cool. We actually decorate inside with that in mind, both holidays are on display at present. The outdoor decorations are holiday-neutral and just autumnal in nature, but inside the house a mash-up of these two holidays is taking place as well! Not as dramatic as what is pictured here, of course! It tracks that Wilson would only be concerned with the menu…tell him I am as well.😊
I’m with you, Bruce. Let each holiday have their day in the sun and stop rushing them. Next thing you know there’ll be Valentine’s Day candy in the stores the first of December. Sheesh.

That is a clever display. This year, for the first time, we have ordered our dinner from Whole Foods. The Producer and I are tired of the days of prep that are over in 60 minutes. We figure our tummies will feel the same with zero prep.

Yeah pretty sweet my son and his wife are doing all the cooking. But unfortunately the reason is that Holly fractured her femur has limited mobility for the next several weeks. (She’s doing well). And other than scrambling eggs I am not a trustworthy chef. 😅 so…..my son to the rescue.
Oh no, sorry to hear about Holly’s injury (hope it wasn’t due to tripping over a dog). Sending loads of ‘pawsitive’ healing energy her way. The early Christmas music tends to set my teeth on grind. I can only take so much of Mariah Carey.
I’m cooking but it’s only my bro and SIL and they are in their 90s. It will be basic but tasty with leftovers.

😂 Not far from there is a 12 ft. skellie with a Santa hat and HoHoHo tee. Guess you gotta be able to get your money’s worth on buying one of those giant guys. That’s absolutely hysterical. Love it! As for Thanksgiving prep, the meal has been ordered from a local restaurant and all I have to do is pick it up on Thanksgiving day. Been doing that for a few years now, because as pet sitters we were usually working on Thanksgiving Day, and even though we don’t have a lot of clients that day anymore, I’m happy to let someone else do the cooking.

As a 30+ year practicing vegetarian, Thanksgiving is the only holiday where I miss meat. My mom used to make the most delicious turkey dinner I’ve ever tasted and each of us girls always tried to honor her memory duplicating it. Have a terrific Monday, Helen.
