Today’s entry in the Flower Friday blog hop hosted by Rosy and the Boyz is this beauty. I think it’s some kind of wood rose. I walk past this church frequently and they have several of them in a flower bed next to the main building and then earlier this week I noticed my favorite neighbor has a few of them planted next to his side walkway. Talk about being an especially welcomed spot of color in the autumnal palette!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend and can get out and enjoy all the beauty Mother Nature is serving up these days.
Live, love, bark! 🐾
My almond tree has gone beyone blossoms and is now producing early stage nuts ( what do you call almond pods?) and I’m sure this is earlier than usual.
Oh to have been able to smell the air when your tree was in bloom! Sounds totally divine. Hope you get a nice crop of nuts from your tree.
Very pretty! Mom said the recent rain has been a gift to the flowers too!
We’ve missed out on rains until this weekend. Everything in the garden now looks a tad bit happier now.
Those flowers are beautiful we just love the color. Happy Barkday Sam.
Thank you! Today IS his ‘barkday.’ Silly Knucklehead is lucky 13 🍀
These flowers or roses are what we call Wild Roses except the mauve colour is different. Wild Roses are usually pink or red. The smell is out of this world…..so fragrant.

And oh-so pretty!
I’ve always been fond of the green/yellow/purple color combination!
It’s so striking!
Monika, those Japanese anemones are stunning and such a beautiful shade of purple. It’s Spring here but it hasn’t made a huge impact at our place. I’ll be heading down to my parents place on Monday and provided the heavy rain hasn’t killed everything off, their garden is a veritable paradise filled with azaleas, forget-me-nots, snowbells. It’s a real cottage garden and although it was planted by a real garden enthusiast, it’s very low maintenance with self-seeding camellias and annuals. Suits my parents very well. They’re not great gardeners.
Best wishes,
Rowena
I LOVE the cottage garden look. And it’s far easier to maintain than an acre of turf and so much more attractive. Enjoy the visit to your parents.
Their garden is amazing. The front lawn breaks out with primulas,forget-me-nots and snow bells and looks like a floral carpet. It also reflects our personality. We’re all fairly laid back about the garden and the house.
A casual garden can totally touch the soul.
I love purple flowers and those are gorgeous. There is an area near us that has purple butterfly bushes blooming. They always make me smile.
I’ve always wanted a hedge of butterfly bushes-it’s a striking look in late summer.
Oh so pretty! We love the purple color

😍
When you walk by the church do you have to dodge lightning bolts?
Hahahahahha… I’m a funny Maltese.
Haha. ⚡️💥⚡️
Aren’t those pretty! We are finally getting some sunshine so we can really get out and enjoy the beautiful autumn weather!
What a lovely colour! Autumn certainly has an abundance of rich colours! Nature is beautiful at this time of the year ! 🙂
the critters in the cottage xo
Wood roses – that is a new one to Mom. They are so pretty – love that shade of purple.
Happy weekend.
Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber
That’s what I called them. I’ve since been told they’re Japanese anemones. Either way they sure are pretty.
So beautiful, I have never seen before. I noticed in the comments it is Japanese anemone. So simple, so lovely color.
The name was new to me. I’m not sure it’d do well in my garden. Everything planted is more xeriscape with their water requirements but I’m glad to be able to see it along walks.
Lovely colour…we had a clump of them, but in white. The purple ones would have been superb over the sedums….
Whatever kind of rose it is, it’s beautiful!
Thanks. Eliza indicated it’s a Japanese anemone. I just think it’s gorgeous!
😍
These are Japanese anemones, a great fall bloomer. They’re beautiful! Happy weekend to you all!
Thanks for letting me know exactly what they are. 😍 They sure are beauties.
what a pretty lavender posey.
Hugs Cecilia
So different from the earth tones more typically seen this time of year.
Meow Miss Monika mee just stopped to smell thee flowerss…they are so purrty!
**purrsss** BellaDharma
That’s good advice…every day. 😍
That one IS a beautiful difference from the fall colors, indeed!
So striking and so old-fashioned. I loved finding that beauty along the walk.
What a great find. 🙂
I live for walks like ones like that which provide such an unexpected pop! Yesterday’s was a bright orange and red maple against a cornflower blue sky. Unbelievable, especially since most of the trees are quite green still. Oh yeah…it’s been freakin summer forever! 😈
That sounds wonderful! Not the summer part . . .
Yeah, I’ve officially been over the whole summer thing since the first week of June. It’s been miserably hot this year. *Sigh*
We were ‘treated’ to a muggy evening after a hard rain last night. I. Am. Done.
I can’t even imagine what humidity feels like anymore. It was just shy of 90 on Wednesday though supposedly more seasonal today and this weekend. Paws crossed.
Double paws crossed!
It’s time to turn the page . . mercifully.
Amen!
Haha!
Right smack dab in the middle of autumn at that!
No kidding. Go figure!
It’s spring, just saying how do . .
It seems like Mother Nature is apologizing for the agony she put so many through this year.
Autumn is like that…apologizing for all the extreme weather provided the rest of the year.
Beautiful color that deserves a favored spot in an autumn garden.
Something that pretty deserves to be in any garden! 😍
Beautiful! I think yellow contrasted with blue or purple looks so good in the garden!
Purple anytime is always welcome (and with yellow…divine) but especially at this time of year when stuff tends to be more earth toned.
Yes….love it!
Beautiful flower and a beautiful color. We are off to the boat today so we’ll be enjoying the great outdoors.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. ♥
Have extra fun on the water and a happy weekend!
Lovely flowers! Most of our flowers are gone for the year and the leaving are just starting to change! Happy Fall!
The color change has barely started here probably because it’s been so hot-everything still thinks it’s summer! Have a great weekend.
Lovely flowers! Our flowers are all gone for the year. Though the leaves are just starting to change colors. Happy Fall!
Pouring rain the past two days made for lots of mud and cranky pups (not Kali who loves Rainey day recess). Sunshine all weekend which is much better weather for outdoor play for Koda and Kloe and easier for dad to manage crowd control. 😉
Yeah for rain (although I all too well jow pups aren’t fans. Hope you guys have a pawsome weekend in ‘Golden sunshine.’
Soon you’ll be showing us flowers that are under a foot of snow.
At this point in our drought, I’d be thrilled.
Pinkish-purple in an autumnal landscape – how pretty!! I like it too! The leaves haven’t even started changing here, yet. I’d love to be able to take a ride up to the mountains in a few weeks, but I doubt it will happen the way things are going right now.
The color change hasn’t quite made much of an appearance in the city, though the mountain leaves turned early. Yesterday I came across a bright orange and red maple for the first time this year. It was quite spectacular and gives me hope for the rest. Even my locust tree is still 95% green and always is gold by now 😲
