Monday Musings ~ April 8, 2024

Happy Monday, peeps. Hard to believe it’s been 3 months since a certain sheepdog joined our Bunk House. Wilson’s personality continues to unfold, much like the springtime flowers here. He’s still a work in progress but hasn’t started remodeling the house. Yet. Although I’m sure if it crossed his imagination, he’d have a treat and food dispenser installed that would be activated by a well-placed, gigantic paw doling out snacks.

Monday smile

Here’s wishing you a well designed week.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. Solar panel AND a rain gutter that empties into the water bowl??! That dog better hang on tight to his HuDad!! When Sam built Callie’s (and later also Shadow’s) doghouse, we didn’t even know what solar panels were! And we didn’t have any pieces of the gutters from the house. Oh well, she/they never complained…we had a huge bucket of water for them outside in the shade next to the back wall of the house. The doghouse is long gone now though.

    1. I remember when I got my first poodle back in the 70’S. We had a carpenter who did some work for our hardware store and contracted with him to build a doghouse for her and use our account at the lumber yard for the materials. What a fiasco. That open account cost us about $500 and ended up being an A-frame house that was huge, it was more like a playhouse than any dog house. It was insulated, had a cedar shake roof and weighed a ton. The dog wouldn’t go in it but my kids played in it. 🤣 It was so big, the movers wouldn’t move it when we sold the house. Hadn’t thought of that ‘doghouse’ until I read your comment. Thanks for that memory smile!

  2. That doghouse in a Canine Castle, LOL! BOL!

You must have sent the wind here, because every time I cleaned up leaves and branches, there would be more, seemingly coming out of nowhere! I attacked them all with the lawnmower today, a three and a half hour job of 11 miles of walking behind the thing, (we have an acre of fenced yard), …at least the wind kept me cool. It was 73F.

Enjoy the rest of your week, and your pups, too! We helped her with that job, by not making more poops….after she pre cleaned the yard! BOL!

    1. The wind did a number on the whole metro area. There are still people without power! Crazy weather.

    1. Elsa keeps things closed to her vest but yes, she redecorates. Mostly rearranging her ‘nest’ scratching it in place and making things nice and lumpy. 🤣

    1. Thanks. Ha, if only it were that easy (salary cap, trade deadline has passed, and probably other considerations that won’t make that possible). Sigh.

  3. LOVE that cartoon! The expression on the pup’s face…..!!!! As for Wilson – he’s ‘the bomb’……he’s big and beautiful and probably happier than he’s ever been living with your tribe. Teddy and I send him a special hug……he’s found his nirvana – something we ALL hope to find in our lives!

    Love, Pam (and Teddy)

    1. Is that expression just priceless?! Thanks for the kind words about the House Pony. He’s no Norman but he is nonetheless unique and special.

    1. Thanks. Glad to have been able to provide a smile. Hope you had a great Eclipse Monday.

  4. Give Wilson time. He’ll make some changes, we’re sure. I was laying on the back of the red chair at the front of the house watching for Mommy to come home and Daddy and Andrew both walked by, looked at me, and said, “Don’t look at the sun.” Sheesh. XOX Xena

    1. He just might have some useful ideas when it comes to architectural design. 😉

    1. Thanks! He seems to be fitting in better with each day and brings me a lot of joy.

    1. Thanks, John. He’s been a nice addition to the Ranch. Once his integration is complete, then I can begin to work with him on becoming a therapy dog. 🤞🏻

  5. That cartoon made me smile. Seeing the doggie wagging his tail and hugging his Dad for thinking about the “home” improvements is adorable. Sounds like a spring cleaning is well underway at your place after those winds. Here’s hoping for a good weather week for all of us, Monika.🙂

    1. The tail wagging in that cartoon made me smile too. Then there was that happy face. Yup, spring cleaning has begun-nature insisted on it!

  6. That cartoon reminds me of my nephew and his wife way back when they got a dog. He built it a wonderful doghouse with a sun shade and a chain link fence. There were rules. She wasn’t allow on the furniture and only in the kitchen. You know how that all goes. No one used the doghouse and she did whatever she damn well pleased. All of us animal folk in the family knew it would happen but you can’t give advice to new pet people who think they are in charge. 🙂

    1. I have to chuckle about some so called rules (like no furniture). I’m a pushover and can’t help but giggle about it.

  7. Count me in on the folks who aren’t spending days, minutes, or seconds thinking about the eclipse too! But I don’t know any dog who would dream of a full treat dispenser operated by said dog. The stuff of doggie dreams!

    1. Oh thank heavens, I was beginning to think there was something odd with me. Well, there still may be, but not because I don’t care about the bloody eclipse!

Can you just picture a HGTV doghouse designed by a dog? LOL

    1. Happy Eclipse Monday to you! I’m sure he’d manage to take up the space in front of whatever appliance I needed access to, no matter how large the kitchen was! LOL

      1. Haha! Probably!
Is your area in the totallty range at all. We are half in it, but its a cloudy day so not sure how much we will really see, unless the clouds break.

        1. I think it’s just partial here. I’m not really into the whole eclipse thing which explains why I’ve never bothered to buy those safety glasses. I think the traffic will be a nightmare-though it’s Monday and that’s bad enough.

    1. Boy, ain’t THAT the truth. At least that’s the hope that I’m always evolving. Happy Monday, Mike.

    1. I had to chuckle at that cartoon though both Elsa and Wilson enjoy their creature comforts from inside rather than a fancy doghouse outside. We had two very nice ones that I finally ditched since all of my dogs thought it beneath them to occupy. LOL

    1. He definitely has a large presence, both physically and figuratively! Happy Monday.

  8. What a good pup dad. I’d rather keep my babies inside. I did laugh out loud though.

I’m glad Walter is fitting in just fine. He sure is handsome.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays as always.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups and a big hug to you . ♥

    1. Glad you got a chuckle out of it. I did too. The things we’re willing to do for our 4-legged family members. Wishing you a fabulous Eclipse Monday.

    1. And to you. Will you be able to see it from your location? Everyone seems to be quite ga-ga over it here (even if it’ll only be a partial).

      1. Here, it should be complete but I didn’t buy any glasses, and it should be 100% at 3:27. I will be at work and I’m not sure I will go out. Then again, if I find a pharmacy that sells the glasses… (like they wouldn’t be all sold out anyway!)

        1. I only ever think about picking up the appropriate eyewear once they’re all sold out myself. With too much to do on the ground, I won’t be looking up anyway. Still cleaning up branches that were blown down over the past few days. Luckily it seems like the winds have finally moved on although there are over 50,000 customers still without power. 😲

          1. I have a co-worker who is leaving at noon so she can go to the Old Port where they are handing out glasses. I am, to be honest, not that gung-ho! If, at lunchtime, I find some, fine… otherwise, nope.
Nature does like to leave her mark, eh? No power is not fun.

            1. Oh thank heavens. I thought I was the only person in North America that could give two hoots about the whole thing. Sheesh, with everything that’s happening these days, this seems frivolous (even if it is a pretty monumental occurrence). I’m not much of a stargazer either and think there’ll be too many people looking up while walking with their cell phones (instead of the usual looking down at them). I’m a regular “get off my lawn” grouch today, aren’t I? 🤣

              1. Nope. You are not alone! (Marc doesn’t give two shits, either.)
Honestly, there will be loads of images of the thing on-line and we can spare our eyeballs.
I’m not much of a stargazer, either, to be honest. G’head, growl away! 😂🤣

                1. While I don’t really care about this whole obsession, I’m glad to find there are a few others who feel the same. It’s so bizarre. When did we become a society that needed constant shiny new things to occupy our short attention spans? {grumble, grumble} 🤣

                  1. I know. I realise it’s a rare phenomenon and there is that whole “I saw it” thing. But honestly? So what.

                    1. Precisely! Gosh, we’re soulless as a society. I mean, it’s the end of the regular hockey season…what more could you ask for (other than a goalie who actually can make a save-sheesh)? Bwahahahaha!

                    2. Ummm… you talkin’ to ME about the end of the regular hockey season… Have you seen my Habs. FFS. We are in LAST place. Again. F***

                    3. I know but heck, they beat the Avs & the Panthers recently. Sometimes you gotta choose the battles you’ll fight. But yeah, I hear ya. 😊

                    4. I think both our teams fall in that category. One of the most exciting scorer’s in the league and it’ll be wasted. Sigh. And can I just say ESPN coverage is without the doubt the worst on the planet!!

                    5. It’s the hardest division-playoffs are gonna be brutal without a good goalie. 😕

Feel free to bark your thoughts...but no growling please.
