July 4

Two hundred and forty three years ago, a scrappy bunch of New World folks declared their independence from the British Empire and we’ve stay scrappy ever since. Happy Birthday, America from the Knucklehead and the Ninja. While there won’t be a tank or  fly-over at the Ranch, we hope your ‘howliday’ is safe, filled with great food and fun shared with friends and family.

  3. Yuppers, we are a scrappy bunch! And loud apparently ~ there are lots of boomers goin’ off right nows, and Ma hopes they stop soon…not because they bother me so much, butts because they interfere with her beauty sleeps! (and she needs all of that she can gets!)

      Last night was a living hell on the boomers. Poor Sam and Elsa were terrified and I was worried Elsa might have a seizure. Luckily she didn’t but Sam was a basket case which kept me from sleeping for the second night. I’m beyond grouchy today because of those jerks. If they want scrappy, they better watch out for me!!

  17. John W. Howell – South Texas Gulf Coast – I have been working in business for over forty years and now have the time to work in special areas of interest. My passion has always been to create compelling stories of fiction. I have authored six novels and am working on my Seventh. The first novel is still in manuscript form and being utilized as a door stop in the laundry room. The second is a contemporary fiction novel of 89,000 words and is complete and I am currently seeking a publisher. I also write poetry but have not had the guts to share any with anyone. The one time I read a piece to a person their only comment was, “it doesn’t rhyme.” I will continue to write and hopefully my blog, Fiction Favorites at www.johnwhowell.com will provide some entertainment and an interesting thought or two. I live in the Austin area with my wife Molly and an assortment of loving pets.

  18. Scrappy for sure and I imagine a few of them now may be rolling and writhing in their graves if they have an ear to towards DC… But let’s not politicize the 4th of July. I mean who would try to do that for their own narcasistic reasons?… Sorry I digress. What I meant to say was I hope you and the ranch hands have a great 4th. Here at the Golden K the girls have all been fed, watered, and walked and are now napping at my feet. Holly and I are off soon to historic Columbia, CA to see the parade and eat a hot dog (or two) and basically get our red white and blue on. We’ll return home to the Girls where we will hang out, listen to my old 4th of July mix tapes, BBQ, enjoy a “few” libations, and wait for the bats to come out. Whew! I’m exhausted already. Have a star studded day!

  23. My Golden Life – Upstate South Carolina – I love animals, especially dogs. I enjoy US history, and reading biographies of our former presidents and other historical figures. I love the music of the '60s and '70s since I was growing up in those decades. I love the Beatles and Andy Williams equally.
