Monday Musings ~ November 2, 2020

A mere 60 days from now we will start a fresh new year. If you’re anything like me, you’ll happily kick 2020 to the curb of ancient history. Same for tomorrow. Can it come soon enough?

Enough of the doom and gloom, let’s start the week out with a bit of silliness. When I saw this cartoon I couldn’t help but chuckle and let the iconic Karen and Richard Carpenter planted an ear worm that has last a few days. Guess there are worse things (like the 87th phone call from some political group asking me if I’ve voted yet).

At any rate, here’s to a marvy week, sans any rainy days.

    1. Ah yes, that other junk-I know what you mean. Hopefully it will all be over soon. I can’t take the noise much more. I’d even prefer Carpenter Ants to it. And that’s saying something!! 😆

  1. Oh, it’ll be nice when Ma can stop yellin’ at the teevee and puter screens at some orange dude, with some REALLY creepy furs on top. It’s really been exhausting. I thinks Ma is gonna turn off the teevees and just drink all the margaritas I can make! BOL!!!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

    1. I know what you mean. The past 4 years have been so exhausting with that orange thing who has brought out the very worst in far too many of us. 😬

    1. Oh yeah…major ear worms when you listen to the Carpenters. Ants…notwithstanding. 😆

    1. 😂 Come on…it’s always a better thing to have the musical version of Carpenter ants 🐜 than the real ones.

      1. Well, OK, I’ll admit it just this once but I really liked the Carpenters even when it wasn’t cool to like them. What a once in a century warm voice. Not sure if the brother did much more than occupy space. Tragic to go by anorexia at 32. And besides their Christmas album doesn’t have that Mariah Carey “All I Want for Christmas” song which I simply cannot handle anymore. Aaargh…earworm!

        1. They were a bright, clear voice during turbulent times. Not a bad ear worm to experience considering some of the things we hear these days. 😊

  2. That is a cute and funny cartoon. And yes, now we have that earworm too:) We will be very happy for those 60 days to pass quickly. We so want to be done with 2020!!!

    1. Glad to have provided a smile. Yeah, I sure hope we know about the election before 2022. Don’t think I can keep my head above the chaos line much longer.

  3. Love the cartoon! We haven’t answered our home phone in months because it’s all spam and political stuff. We may start answering later in the month. Or not. If it’s a real call, they’ll leave a message, right?

    1. That’s exactly my attitude with those unfamiliar numbers. Leave a message and I’ll get back to you. So much for the Do Not Call List, huh?

  4. hahah love it! we remember what we thought as 2019 came to the end… oh my oh my… if anybody had a clue what was waiting for us… we would celebrate every day of 2019 ;O)

  5. I will be grateful to see 2020 in the rearview. However…I fear that a lot of the crap will carry over into 2021. Here’s hoping it will be better in some ways.

    1. I think we could all use some different crap; hopefully the kind that doesn’t suck all the oxygen out of a room.

  6. Haha! Needless to say, I was singing along as I read the cartoon!
Can tomorrow come and go with good results, please?
And can 2021 bring us some joy?

    1. It’s hard not singing along when it comes to the Carpenters. I can only hope the week finishes out positively since the ‘wave’ sure didn’t materialize. *sigh If it doesn’t, I’ll need to chat with you about potential immigration strategies!

      1. It’s nigh impossible not to sing along!
Fingers crossed this week ends properly … I’m still dumbfounded it’s so damn close …

    1. Most definitely. I think we’re in for a rough ride. Many businesses downtown have begun boarding up in anticipation of the craziness that is sure to follow. 😟

        1. It sure is. And exceedingly alarming. Makes one wonder how we got to this crossroad.

            1. There are a fair number of places in which to to start with improvements over the current system. The party system wouldn’t be quite as bad if it didn’t have the buckets of money to perpetuate itself.

  7. Luckily, we’ve rarely gotten robocalls for the election. But I did get an unsolicited email from my ophthalmologist through my patient’s account to vote for Trump!

    1. Because we’ve had so many items on the ballot (in addition to a whole slew of candidates) it feels like everyone and their brother is pitching their candidate/cause. Politics in your fair state seems to operate on a whole different level as to what is or isn’t appropriate.

  8. HAHAHAHA ‘Carpenter Ants’!!! Monika that is funny! And yes it is good to start the week off with a GOOD laugh! G-D knows it has been a rough year for all….
And I am pretty ‘done’ with 2020…..(aren’t we all?)

    1. One can only hope. Makes you wonder how we managed to safely put someone on the moon, doesn’t it?

    1. Smiles are especially important these days. Here’s hoping there are more along with a miracle or two this week.

  9. Cute cartoon! Can’t wait until tomorrow…and whatever craziness comes after the election…are over. I fear it might not be over for a bit, but hopefully the outcome will lead to some healing.

    1. It’ll be a good while I suspect too but at least there won’t be more nasty vile ads. This country has a lot of healing to do.

  10. bwaahahaha
a lot of hope hangs on tomorrow’s outcome, or however long it takes for the votes to be counted. Next year… will it be any better than 2020???
