Monday Musings ~ March 22, 2021

Spring arrived over the weekend and boy was it ever glorious (sunny and 65ºF-perfect in my books). While walking around the garden picking up wrappers that has blown in  during last week’s blizzard, I noticed my favorite baby blue grape hyacinths had begun blooming an Ode to Joy. I had to chuckle because of what I knew would probably be coming.

Flowers

These little guys are my favorite of the grape hyacinths in my garden (the purple ones have a later blooming timetable and bloom longer) but they never fail to charm. The fact that the original dozen has naturalized nicely makes them even more appreciated.

This morning, the Ranch hands woke up to this scene and is expected to continue accumulating off and on today, tomorrow and possibly Wednesday.

Snow

At least there was at least one day of spring which may be the shortest spring on record. Funny thing about these records, we seem to be doing a lot of that lately. Mind you, I’m not complaining about the snow; we need the moisture. But it does mess up my plans for a day trip to visit with out of state family members who will be in the southern part of the state just until this Thursday.

Whatever is going on in your neck of the woods, we hope your week starts out with a smile and sets the stage for a ‘pawsome’ week. Happy Monday!

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. We’ve been having some warmer weather and only rain for precipitation. However, like you, I have a feeling that white stuff is probably not done with us yet! We’re starting to get some green things popping up out of the ground so hoping for some color soon!

    1. This is the transition time of year. It’ll be 70 tomorrow and 30 on Monday. Good thing I like yo-yo’s. 😂

    1. There’s a nice warming tread for the next few days-it’s gonna be terrific!

  2. Mother Nature doesn’t know WHAT it wants on this side of the country. 75 and warm last week. 35 and cold rain a couple days ago. 40s and more rain today . .

    Ugh.

    1. Yup; we’ve made Mother Nature so hormonal it’s hard not to get whiplash from all her moods.

    1. Thanks, it seems I misunderstood the itinerary-it’s next week when it’ll be sunny and in the 50’s all week. Woot, woot!

  3. I know you need the snow. And you know what? Those little babies will be right there when the snow has melted. I’m sure of it!

    1. They absolutely will. Most of today’s snow is already melted. One day down two more to go ☺️

  4. Love the hyacinths. Mom has some that are blooming too. Hard to believe you have that much snow again. I hope you manage to make it down to see your family while they are in the area.

    1. Thank you, I hope so too. It will all depend on the weather. My car has a very low ground clearance and while it isn’t a bad car in snow, going over a mountain pass in snowy conditions with crazy drivers isn’t my idea of fun and games. 🤞🏼

  5. Such purrty little Hyacinthss …..
An WHAT THE CAT iss all that WHITE DTUFF there?? OMC~~ mee wunderss if this will happen to us??? It usually doess Miss Monika an Norman an Elsa!
    Mew mew mew…..
    **purrss** BellaDharma an ((huggiess)) LadyMew

    1. March and April are the snowiest months so we’ll probably have more scenes like that for a while. Aren’t those grape hyacinths pretty? 😊

  6. What crazy weather. There is no such thing as climate change *clicks heels* There is no such thing as climate change. *clicks heels” There is no such thing as climate change *nose grows*

  7. Figures – you get the snow and we are in for the rain:( Our hyacinths have popped up too, but no blossoms yet. They smell so sweet once they open.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

    1. It’s rare that it ever rains here. Only the nice wet snow. Either way, lots of muddy paws.

    1. In the span of 28 hours no less. Yeah, I’m already dreading the muddy paws which somehow manage to increase with all the extra potty breaks the Ranch hands seem particularly bent on making when the dog run is in its worst condition. 😬

      1. Then you see an ad from Wayfair advertising free, immediate delivery on white area rugs and sofas and you simply break down and start laughing, crying or screaming at the TV.

    1. Spring snow is soooo much nicer. Wet and able to melt quicker. Still, these tantalizing teases are getting old. Have a great week!

        1. It’s normal for this time of year and after last year’s fires, I shan’t criticize nature’s cruel ways. We take what we get and try to make do.

    1. Rain around here is known as slush. 😆 But at least it’s not December or January where that stuff tends to wear out its welcome.

  8. I guess we’re in that take it while you can get it crease between winter and spring. So, hope you got your fill over the weekend and the coming days favor family over freezing. We’re drying out this week at The Golden K with warmer weather in our future. I’m ready. Regardless of Mother N’s whims have a good week at the Ranch.

    1. Thanks. We will enjoy whatever season is around and be grateful for the moisture. Thank goodness for technology to fill the gap between those times when travel is not possible.

    1. It’s always this way every Spring. Much like a rousing game of ping pong, it’ll go back and forth and then zoom directly to summer. I sometimes envy areas that have a real spring before shifting to scorch…erm…I mean, summer. 😊 Happy Monday!

  9. One day of spring and you’re back in winter. We’re doing the roller coaster ride here too. Beautiful one day and winter the next. Winter isn’t giving up easily this year.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups and a smooch to Norman. Big hug to you. ♥

    1. Winter can have a heavy hand sometimes and is a bit like an boyfriend who just won’t move on when he should.

    1. Every bloom is appreciated, no matter how long (or short). When the snow melts I know they’ll still be there.
