Monday Musings ~ June 21, 2021

Welcome to the Summer Solstice which arrived at 9:31 PM Mountain time last night. Did you know the timing of the June solstice is not based on a specific calendar date or time. It is dependent on when the Sun reaches its northernmost point from the celestial equator. This is why the solstice doesn’t always occur on the same day shifting between June 20, 21, and 22.

At any rate, we hope summer starts out well for you. While we’ve been facing hot temps, today the Mile High City gets a bit of a reprieve with a cool front moving in for the day. But never fear sun and heat lovers, we return to the upper 90’s again tomorrow.

Norman

Norman’s first two days visiting hospital staff and patients went well even if he was a bit overwhelmed with all the attention and maneuvering over slippery surfaces. Overall he brought a lot of joy to nurses, staff, patients and hospital visitors. We plan to go back for more practice soon.

Today’s smile pretty much says it all as far as the dogs are concerned.

Smiles

Whether you’re more summer or winter-like, we hope you have a ‘pawsome’ Monday.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. Excellent! That’s our goal-to make people feel better, on paw at a time.

    1. Can’t even begin to imagine how hot it is out your way. Or how you guys tolerate it.

  1. I’ve heard about Denver’s recent record temps…we’re getting some crazy heat in Portland too…over 100 next week? Climate change is definitely here, not sure I like it. Hang in there!

    1. I will if you will. These crazy temps are nuts and after the record setting fire season don’t need a repeat. At least we don’t have the humidity here. I’d evaporate if we did. Stay cool.

  2. I didn’t realize until very recently how odd it is that we start our “seasons” with the solstices and equinoxes. It works, somewhat, because of seasonal lag…. but not quite, because the first few weeks of September are not more summery to me than the first few weeks of June! I heartily endorse recognizing only meteorological seasons now, which never change dates and match the prevailing climate better!

    1. Thankfully you clued me in on this recently (for which I thank you). We do seem to favor forced certain dates (like all national 3-day holidays), don’t we? 😈

  3. Mee-yow WOW…Sweet Norman yore gorgeeuss….***THUD***

Hello Norman LadyMew here…BellaDahrma just swooned….your handsomeness blew her away!!! Congrats on your 1st Therapy Visit…we knew you woudl do great!

  4. My puppy, a german shepard, is sleeping in the garden and it’s too hot to play with the ball. Her name is Valkyria 😊 Your dog is lovely 😍😍😍

    1. Thank you for the kind comment. And thank you for dropping by. We 💙 visitors.

  5. Us too! We were like in the 100’s then today ~ nice and cool! kerazy! Butts, it’s gonna gets hot again this weekend, so that sucks….
Anyhu Norman, Ma said she just wants to hug you and kiss you and snuggle you…geesh Ma….
I, on the other paw, thinks you are doin’ a PAWSOME job makin’ peeps smile and givin’ them a much needed break from their hard work! Ma says OES’s are the PAWFECT breed for this, butts the furs!!!! BOL!!! That is probably why your Moms keeps your cut close, huh? 😉
    Stay cool my furiend!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

    1. If weather wasn’t reason enough, yes, definitely keeping the fur trimmed makes life easier all the way around. Tell your ma Norman appreciates the hugs and kisses and send a big ole sheepie smooch back in return! 😘

  6. Congratulations Monika and Norman. Thank you for showing the worlds a little kindness!🐾

    1. Thanks! We still have a ways to go before being totally approved but this was a big step in that direction. 💖

    1. Thanks! You stay cool too. I’m going to try to imitate the big dude on the coolness front. He seems to stay calm no matter what.

  7. Yep, that accurately sums up our day – napping all day except for when Mom took us for a walk. Nice breeze but still pretty warm in the sun.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  8. LOL! That is a fun cartoon. Carpet naps are good for winter, but those guys need to move out to the pavement for the summer. #streetnapweather

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

    1. With the heat gripping so much of the country, it’s no surprise there’s loads of snoozing going on. Even I’m tempted to kick back and chill in AC comfort. 😊

    1. He just needs practice and more exposure. Sam was the same way at the beginning but quickly came to be one of the best at delivering very welcomed pet therapy to patients and nurses. 💙

        1. 🤞🏼 I’m sure he will. He’s too good with people to not share it.

  9. I knew Norman would be a hit. He’s such a good pup. Yep, it’s hotter than h*ll here, too. And muggy. It’s the muggy that gets ya. Fixing a glass of herb iced tea – peppermint and ginger. That ought to help!

    1. Oooh, that beverage sounds most quenching on a hot, humid day. At least it isn’t muggy around here, I’d evaporate for sure. Stay cool.

  10. Monday! Its my scheduled day off! So II can lay around just like those cartoon pups, LOL!

But…I have to get outside and mow the lawn. At least today is not a hot one…

Glad Norman got to meet and greet and love on and be loved on, at his therapy work.

    1. Enjoy your day off but don’t work too hard. Laying around is good for mind and body rejuvenation. 😇 Today is actually pleasant here but the heat turns up again beginning tomorrow.

  11. I guess you have to be highly aware of Norman’s needs so he isn’t stressed… he is just adorable

    1. Thanks. Yes, pet therapy teams must be particularly tuned into each of their pet’s subtle signs to make sure they’re safe and happy. Luckily he lives being around people.

  12. Our heatwave broke last night. We can get back to normal now.

Norman is so handsome and I’m glad he did well. He’ll settle in and do a fabulous job.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups and a smooch to Norman. ♥

    1. Thanks for the link and am glad your heatwave broke. I can recall a June were temps were over 100.

  13. Enjoy the brief reprieve before the temps go stupid once again. And here’s to Norm, that handsome good boy!

    Have a great week, Monika.

    1. Thank you Marco! Hope it isn’t the weather doesn’t get too stupid. Egad, it’s not even July and the 100’s are already showing up. Here’s to a ‘furbulous’ week!

            1. Good for you to have gotten in your morning run. Enjoy the day even if storms are coming.

    1. Ooh, what we’d give for rain. Chances are it’d snow before it rained here. 😇Here’s hoping your summer is ‘pawfect.’

  14. YAY NORMIE! I just know he made a lot of people’s day a lot happier with a wagging tail and a wet nose. Sometimes it makes all the difference in the world to just get pure unquestioning love from a handsome visitor like Norman.

    Hugs, Pam

    1. Pet therapy is such a valuable tool towards making patients get back to full health so we were especially glad to bring smiles to patients and overworked nurses. 😇

  15. So happy Norman’s first two days went so well. It’s normal that there be an adjustment period but he’s such a fine gentleman that he will be an old had at it in not time.

    Happy Monday!

    1. Thanks so much. He made so many nurse happy, it really warmed my heart. Can’t wait until we go again!

  16. Norman looks sooo handsome in his volunteer attire!!!! I am certain he will be a Pro in no time! Ugh…UPPER 90s????????????? Please keep those temps there and stay hydrated!!!!

    1. We will. At least we don’t have accompanying high humidity, so I’m looking on the bright side. 😉 Stay cool!
