Festival Recap ~ Part Deux

Hello mates, Norman here to share more photos from the weekend’s adventures mum and I had at hospital’s Fall Festival. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but any time I get a chance to ride in the car, I’m in. Just don’t forget to bring my costume, mum!

Norman

There were a lot of games for all those little people to play. I came “this” close to catching that ball till mum reminded me that I was there as an observer, not a participant.

Norman

But don’t cry for me, I got to spend some quality one-on-one time with lots of little people…some of them even tried to poke my eye out give me a treat.

Norman

No sweat, little guy. I like pineapples.

The Flight for Life helicopter made an appearance and all the  kiddos wanted to sit in it. It was pretty noisy but great fun for attendees.

We had a great time hanging out with the other pet therapy dogs and their mums. Logan and his mum, Janet went dressed up as “Mardi Growls.” These guys definitely know how to ‘par-tay!’

My friend Delia, a hospital staffer, brought her recently rescued pup to the event. Bubba definitely won the dog lotto by getting adopted by her as she is one of the kindest people we’ve met at hospital. He wasn’t quite sure what to make of me so I was careful to be extra kind to him so as not to scare the little guy.

Nurses seem to be drawn to me, and you know what? I don’t mind one little bit.

Face painting and painting pumpkins were a bit hit with lots of diligent artists.

ELMC Fall Festival

Our group led the pet parade for all dogs in attendance as well as anyone who wanted to walk with us.

ELMCMum and I spread the word about the very cool backdrop at the photo booth. My pal Bindee and her mum, Joy took  advantage. Isn’t Bindee just the cutest little pumpkin you’ve ever seen on a lap?

Our director, Donna has a beautiful and super talented black  miniature poodle. Roxie, a champion dancer who also competes in nose work, is nothing like my sister and she made sure to tell me not all black poodles are Ninjas. Whew…that’s a  relief!

Even mum and I decided to get in on the action at the photo booth. We’re just a “couple of jokers” having a good time.

It was good seeing our Golden pal Riley and her mum, Jaycee. Riley has been very sick this past year with an autoimmune disorder and is just now able to bring smiles to people. She’s a real sweetheart and loved by all who meet her.

Fall Festival

A group photo of the pet therapy dogs show we’re a good looking and a well behaved bunch.

ELMC Fall Festival

As events go this one was a nice family affair. It was good being able to spend time in the community after last year’s event was cancelled due to COVID. But I can assure you, I was one knackered boy at the end of the day. I fell fast asleep in the Ninja’s bed-something I never do (she wasn’t too happy about it but I was so tired and it was the first bed I found).

Norman

Mum and I are back at hospital again today after having great visits yesterday. We’ll share details about those adventures soon. What do you plan to wear for Halloween fun?

Halloween

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  1. love those photos and LOVED seeing a “normal” sized Sheltie lol! Levi is like double the size of that one! I have that same Lion head that one of the dogs was wearing (the mane), I use it for MYSELF for the Lions football games lol but this year I am going to try and get Levi to wear it for the Halloween photo contest at Canine College. Hoping he will wear it long enough for a photo! Looks like you had one heck of a fun time!

  2. All sizes and breeds, and hopefully all having a great time. Norman, you and your Mum are quite the jokesters. This was a great way to start my day. Will watch for your upcoming therapy story.

    1. It’s quite true…at least where my mum is concerned. {barking under my breath} I’m the serious one.
      Your pal,
      Norman 🐾

  3. What a fabulous day that was for you and Mom, Norman. You got to meet lots of nice pups and peeps, big and little. Thanks for sharing your fun day.

Woos – Lightning, Misty, and Timber

    1. It was quite the day, that’s definitely for sure. And it feels good being involved in an event like this.

    2. Between good dogs, tasty treats, and loads of people petting us therapy dogs, it definitely was a fabulous day.

    1. Ministering to lots of people who need you is exhausting for both me and mum. But lots of fun too!

    1. Oh contraire Cupcake. Mum always misses something but it’s ok. She gives good treats though. 😉

  4. Great photographs of a great day. Looks like everyone had fun and I really liked the Parade. Yes, Helicopters can be noisy, but great enjoyment for children when they are resting on the ground. We find that when the Army are here.. Respects, Norman!! You are a brave dog – sleeping in the bed of the Ninja!!

    1. Do t think she hasn’t forgotten either. She hasn’t quite giving me the stink eye! I’m just hoping I can win her over with my charm and good looks 😆

  5. Oh Norman, what a fantabulous job you did, introducing us to everyone. You are a star, I tell ya!
You and your Mum of course!

    1. Thanks, Miss Dale. I love meeting new peeps and pets so this event was perfect for me! 😊

  6. So happy to see that you found a hat that covered your natural flowing horns. Very attractive! 😈 Just looking at the Normster I want to run up and scruff and scratch him around the neck and ears – what a face! I bet Elsa was jealous even if she pretended not to care.

    1. Mum says you have no idea how long she wrestled with including that photo for that exact reason. As for Elsa, we just roll with the punches (or bite marks) 😉

        1. She did say something about smart-aleck-ness where you are concerned. Then she chuckled. Mums…what can a good dog do about ’em?

  7. How fun. I always like to see Norman and I finally got to see you too. Excellent. I would have loved to have been there with you.

I linked this post to Happy Tuesday.

Have a fabulous day. Scritches to the pups, a smooch to Norman and a hug to mom. ♥

    1. We’d have loved having you there too. Thank you for the link. Norman send bum wiggles and soft puppy kisses.

    1. A super noisey one at that! We could barely watch from a distance. But the kids sure loved it. I must be getting old. LOL

  8. That looks like such a fun day!! I’m not “into” putting costumes on our fur babies any more. Bandannas are one thing, but Ducky never really liked wearing anything else. Bogie would probably tolerate it, but I just don’t feel like trying.

    1. It can be a lot of work. Luckily Norman is unbelievably tolerant. I probably wouldn’t do it if he weren’t part of pet therapy.

    1. It’s one thing to be creative and another when you translate that creativity onto a dog’s body! I tip my hat off to people who can do both.

        1. You cats sound like they could be related to Elsa. Actually she just runs and hides but I’m sure in her mind she would be wishing she was ripping off mum’s face. 😁

    1. It was fun watching little kids enjoy the whole event and interact with the dogs. It gave everyone a sense of maybe, just maybe some things are returning to what we know and enjoy most about this time of year.

  9. I am so sorry I wasn’t able to be there. It looks like you guys had a LOT of fun on a beautiful day. Next year, I’ll be there. Promise.

    1. No worries, Amy. You had more important things and your kiddos are well loved when they visit the hospital. We’ll see you soon hopefully. Given both your fur kids ear/belly rubs from us.

  10. What GREAT photos! Norman you are the STAR though – and just look at how many people wanted to give you a pet or a hug……..you’re fabulous in your costume!

    Hugs, Teddy
