Squirrels

Came across this chap on my walk who refused to move for fear of losing his prized meal. Maybe squirrel Thanksgiving is this week? Anyway, he kept giving  me the stink eye the whole time I positioned myself around the tree limbs to try to capture his pic. He must have thought it was rude to stare while he was noshing.

Here’s hoping your week is stink-eyed free with tasty treats galore. Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

Live, love, bark!🐾

  1. What a great shot! This time of year, there should be some delish foods for the squirrels with all the apples and pumpkins!

    1. Thank you. Apples, pumpkins and unabashed chutzpah-yup, the perfect scenario for squirrels. 😇

  2. score!!! lucky squirrel. I passed by a hawk once, eating something on the road. It didn’t flinch or fly off in the face of a poodle. It was not leaving the dinner. A squirrel ran right through our yard yesterday, right within the fence, Milo by my side watched it run and didn’t chase it. Okayyyyy

    1. They sheer nerve sometimes confuses dogs. They can’t believe something would be so bold and obnoxious!

    1. Thank you. This guy made me laugh too since he was bound and determined to hang on to that big apple!

  3. I never knew squirrels like apples. It’s one of Xena’s very favorite foods, and the pups often share an apple at supper time in with their other food. Great photo!

    1. Thank you. The squirrels in our neighborhood will eat just about anything and are well known garden thieves.

    1. I got lucky-usually squirrels know how I feel about them and can run away fast enough. Or maybe it’s Elsa they’re running away from. LOL

      1. I have an inkling they are escaping the Ninja more than you 😉
And yes, such a clear shot involves some luck, great timing and some skills so don’t count yourself short!

        1. You’re very kind. They should probably be put on notice that I’m less of a fan than Elsa. 😈

    1. He was cautiously eyeballing me AND the Ranch Hands. Elsa is notorious for disliking squirrels even more than me.

    1. There’s no such thing as a shy squirrel! The ones in my neighborhood are as bold as all get out.

      1. Mew mew mew Miss Monika yore Squirrelss are purrty bold fore sure!
Minnie (R.I.P.) was a blod an frendlee Squirrel. Mimi her Sistur iss sorta shy butt doess recognize us. Macy iss tote-ally shy as iss Browny THE Black Squirrel…maybee they bee unshy next yeer???

        1. Our squirrels are definitely hoodlums, looking for ways to cause mischief. They are constantly torturing the dogs. I’m sure I heard Elsa whisper “one of these days, dude…one of these days.”

        1. Squirrels (contrary to some) are NOT cute. They are the evil spawn of the devil. Elsa and I agree on that. Norman is more in the ‘whatever’ camp.

    1. They do have a fairly captivating expression, even if they’re a furry version of the devil.

  4. For 14 years we worked Thanksgiving and ordered our dinner packaged up from one of our favorite local restaurants…amazing pumpkin pie too. This is the first year we’re not working the holiday but we still ordered dinner! Looking forward to a quiet, relaxing holiday for the first time in many years.
