Monday Musings ~ June 27, 2022

Since we will be visiting patients and staff this week beginning tomorrow, I thought today’s smile seemed especially appropriate. Have a terrific Monday. Here’s hoping your meds have 4 legs and a wiggly tail.

Smile

I couldn’t let today go by without congratulating the Colorado Avalanche on their Stanley Cup win last night. Well done, boys. Special congrats to Cale Makar (#8) on winning the Conn Smythe MVP trophy to go with his other hardware: the 2022 Norris trophy (best defenseman in the league) as well as winning the Calder Memorial trophy in his rookie year (2019-2020). Pretty impressive for a 23 year old.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. We are super thrilled about the Stanley Cup win but sad as well-it’ll be a few months before hockey is around again and the other sports just don’t do it for us as much. Sigh. The cartoon was a good one, wasn’t it? 😄

  2. I was in Denver on a family trip when the Avs won it in 1996. Watched all of the overtime periods of the final game on ESPN in the hotel patiently waiting for Baseball Tonight to come on. I’m not a hockey fan, but that was a good game!

    1. It was something else going to triple OT. It was as though it would never end; everyone looked totally gassed and then the big German, Uwe Krupp delivered the game winning goal. It was unbelievable. 🏒 🥅 🏒

    1. They can be addictive too. Not the worst thing to get hooked on though. 😍

  3. Just what the doctor ordered.

As for the Avs, what a club! Here’s to a immensely entertaining run wihich culminated in a dance with Lord Stanley.

    1. They managed to dig deep (and deep is what is necessary when playing a club like Tampa). I’m excited for the celebrations and joy that will definitely be on parade tomorrow.

            1. Precisely. There are just some teams you love to hate. TB is one of them, so is Boston. Course it doesn’t help when the despised team is in a state that doesn’t make snow and yet boasts not one, but two snowless teams. That’s just salt in the wound!

  4. Great cartoon.. Congratulations on winning the cup. Saw this on our TV here in South Australia. Was all very exciting. Still dry here but cold in the mornings and the sun is out but not very warm. Benji is very good at opening doors – need to teach him how to close them after him and keep the heat in…

    1. Thanks for the congrats. It’s very exciting to have won the cup, it’s been 21 years since it was last done.

We’re beginning to warm up again after a few days of cool temps (but no moisture). Stay warm and keep that sweet boy an extra ear rub from me.

    1. More than one if truth be told. Thanks Frank. The boys managed to pull it off. Whew!

    1. I’m trying to decide. It will be a complete madhouse downtown. I may just watch it broadcast on Altitude and not mess with parking issues. We’ll see, it’s also gonna be a hot day Thursday.

    1. Considering they finished dead last just a few years ago, you bet. Plus I think last year’s 2nd round exit left the team hungry to prove they belonged in the series.

    1. I thought the cartoon was ‘pawfect’ too! Thanks, the city is abuzz with excitement that the oldest sports trophy in North America is coming to Colorado after a 20 year hiatus. #FoundaWay

    1. Couldn’t agree more with you. People need the energy pets share to pawsitive energy! And being thrilled after a 20 year drought on the Stanley Cup makes the win that much sweeter.

    1. Sending loads of healing Norman nose nudges to help him feel better soon.

  5. Love the funny and yes they can cure all kinds of things. Cute.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups, a smooch to handsome Norman and a hug to you. ♥

    1. Our visit will be especially welcome. One of the most well liked nurses passed away a little over a week ago. Stress in healthcare is all too real.

To call me a fan is an understatement. But winning the cup is amazing!

  6. Aw, great Monday smile!! And Congrats to the CO Avalanche!! I didn’t watch the game; but I, too, am glad they beat Tampa Bay! And I’d say Cale is very impressive for such a young man! One that youngsters need to look up to for inspiration. Congrats to CM on his many awards!

    1. Glad to have provided a nice Monday smile. Cale is really something. To accomplish what he has in such a short time puts him in a very elite category of athletes. Plus he’s one of the nicest kids around.

  7. The very best treatment you can get without a prescription. Yes, congrats to the Avalanche. Defeating the two-time defending champs was no small feat, and if both teams can navigate good health and keep their rosters intact, they may meet up in the Finals again next season.

    1. You’re so right, it IS the best over the counter or prescription drug around!

It’s going to be harder than beating the Lightning-salary cap and unrestricted free agents will be much harder to navigate but hopefully Joe Sakic as another rabbit in his pocket he can pull out. 🤞🏼

    1. You want a 30-day supply or more? 😍 Even GoodRx can’t beat our prices. LOL

    1. Thanks! Insane barely covers it. They won on sheer determination. I suspect the entire team will nap until Thursday when they’ll be the stars on 17th Street at the parade. Get ready to party.

      1. No kidding. I am so glad they never gave up and actually beat Tampa Bay at their own game!
Woo hoo! Hope yours doesn’t turn into a stupid mob that burns cars and crap…
