Monday Musings ~ April 3, 2023

Welcome to the first Monday of April. The high winds over the past few days reminded me of the things that can go wrong in a modern world. The weather was too nasty to try to go for a good walk, so I decided to check out what’s on TV after a lull in the hurricane force winds  and after chasing trash bins down the alley a few times. Upon settling down with a cozy warm beverage and a couple of furry lap blankets, I discovered the router lost all memory of me and the dogs. No Netflix, no cable. Does anyone know what makes technology decide to not play ball? During March Madness! What the…? And yet I’m supposed to trust AI? Ummm, likely not at this point.

After 87 attempts to get the bloody router to play nice and recognize the hardware and the password, I realized I missed one of the best college basketball games ever. Way to go LSU Lady Tigers-congratulations on your win.

But things could have been worse, I suppose. At least I wasn’t swearing at a stranger (only CenturyLink).

Smiles

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. We think our router is just evil. Things seem to be working now. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

    1. It seems people act like dogs frequently when it comes to the Internet. Also barking/screaming.

  2. Well, a quiet week and reasonable weather for the first week of Autum (Fall). – cool in the mornings but really nice during the daylight hours. We only had two hospital visits and one doctor visit, so a reasonable week, but and waiting for Adelaide. Otherwise Annabell is not too bad and Benji is in great form. as is my favourite Ninja by the sound of her and Norman is looking well. At least his hospital visits are productive whereas mine are just waiting. Both are looking well.

    1. Glad things are on the plus side of the stethoscope, John. Unfortunately waiting is baked into healthcare anymore but we hope you get some answers soon. Sending pawsitive thoughts your way, with our best digital ear rubs for Benji.

  3. Love the cartoon! We’ve been lucky so far with the wind and power outages. Knock on wood!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the smile. The wind is totally wearing me down these days. But wind isn’t what caused the outage-it was the ISP provider (which seems to be a laughable term in CenturyLink’s case.

  4. We are SO TIRED of the high winds here – almost every day 30-50mph wind gusts and frankly – I am learning to HATE the wind because it takes away my ability to SNIFF for danger! How am I supposed to protect my Mom and Dad from bad stuff if the wind takes all my “sniffability” away?? It’s a problem but there are some who have way way way more wind then we do and we worry about them. Wind can be scary. We never did get any snow this Winter – we think the weather is WEIRD.

    Hugs, Teddy

    1. It’s more than weird. It was 64 yesterday; today it’s 28F. With a skiff of snow to boot. We’d take a foot of snow over the wind! At least you can smell stuff through the snow.

  5. I know this moments… after a blackout of all things tv, I had to do a complete new set up.. it worked … butttttt… it said it does an update for the newest version and it needs 45 minutes… what the…!!!!

    1. Just having a good barking. Always cracks me up when my guys do the same thing.

        1. But the barking probably make Ace and Carly seem super full of personality.

  6. Our electricity kept popping off and immediately back on Saturday. But each “off,” otherwise barely noticeable, turned the TV off! Then I had to go through the whole thing of getting back onto the Paramount+ show I was watching. Oh, the trials of being a first world country, LOL!

  7. That happens here sometimes, too…but though we had storms and wind, everything kept working…Today is still dreary and it pours every once in a while. The nearby river is almost at floodpoint.

I had to giggle at that cartoon, it reminds me of Benji…he barks at everything and anything…

    1. 😊 You’ll have to remind him there’s no percentage in barking at strangers-they don’t pay attention to the noise. 😂

    1. Hahaha! Seriously sorry for laughing. I swear the machines are in cahoots.

  8. We’ve had cold, windy and wet weather most of March. The sun is shining today, but it’s COLD. I had issues connecting this morning, but all is well now.

Love that cartoon. I laughed out loud.

As usual I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. Scritches to the pups, a smooch to Norman and a big hug to you. ♥

    1. You’re too kind, Sandee. Thank you. That cartoon made me snort in my coffee.

We’re expecting a change in the weather weather which would be very welcome. The wind has dried things out so badly. But it’s probably just going to be cold over the next couple of days. Sigh.

  9. I can identify with March weather and March Madness. The transitional weather from Winter to Spring is always windy here, and we’ve had internet go out during the games at times. This weekend, amazingly it hung in there and performed throughout. That being said at the first intersection I got to on Sunday morning, a giant evergreen tree which was quite vertical on Saturday was now quite horizontal on Sunday. Dog internet was an lol, Monika. Have a good week!

    1. Oh gosh, so sorry about the prone Evergreen. They have such small root balls, that happens here too. Breezy again but at least not hurricane force. I’d gladly trade the wind for a foot of snow. Glad you liked the cartoon. It made me chuckle.

    1. AI doesn’t leave me confident, but I can’t help but wonder if my expectations aren’t too high. At any rate, we’ll muddle on as best we can. Here’s hoping things go well for you and the Thugs this week.

  10. Technology is great….. when it works. I feel your router and internet pain; been there several times lately. Not sure what’s worse: totally out or intermittent working with frozen screens and spinning circles. Have a good week at the Ranch. If you still have to batten down the hatches I hope the internet gods are better to you.

    1. Both conditions make for a lousy experience by something that’s supposed to make things better. More wind in expected later today as a storm is supposedly moving in. I’ll welcome the moisture and hope technology stays in play. 🤞🏼

    1. CenturyLink and I have a history of unpleasantness. I’ve often thought about switching to Comcast but from what many of my neighbors say, it’s not any better. These ISP providers sure have us by the short hairs, don’t they? Here’s hoping this week will be free of that kind of nonsense. Happy Monday.

      1. I changed providers after years and years with the same. This one is so much faster (according to my daughter who said downloading was amazing). So far, I really cannot complain about that. Their channel selection blows but I have the strict minimum, since I mostly stream.
        Hope your issues don’t return!
Me? I’m looking outside at the effing snow that is falling. Of course it is. I bring my daughter back to her home today.
        Happy Monday to you!

        1. Here’s hoping the snow doesn’t impact the homeward journey. If it’s any consolation we’re expecting a change in the weather that’s supposed to be more like yours. I don’t mind the moisture-lord knows we desperately need it after several days of drying wind. Good luck.

          1. It’s already stopped. We are supposed to get a high of 45 today. They did indicate the snow would turn to rain.
I sure hope you get the much-needed precipitation.
Gonna be quiet here after a month and some!

    1. I know, right?! Grrr. But you’re right, that cartoon was just ‘pawfect.” Happy Monday, Friday.
