Today is the first Monday of September and it’s also Labor Day in the U.S. and Canada. We send our best wishes for the unofficial end of summer, even as temperatures continue to remind us it’s not over. Not sure when or if those will ever end, yet we hope today is an enjoyable day off.

    I’ve been so busy at work and when I get home I’ve been canning and whatnot, I haven’t had time to catch up. FFS, tomorrow is Friday? Good news is, starting today, the temps leave the 90’s behind and are settling into the mid-70’s. I am SO cool with that!

      Good for you! Mostly people in the states just enjoy the day off and it’s become yet another day for businesses to schedule a sale to get people to buy stuff they don’t need. No one actually contemplates what the day means and how lucky they are they got the day off (among other benefits that unions managed to fight for and win). Hope all is well on your end and give the Thugs a good ear or belly rub from me.

  6. We love having the extra weekend day around here. It is a bummer it was almost 100 degrees because it meant we couldn’t do much outside, but we got a lot done inside including some extra rest. Hope your Labor Day was nice.

  7. Hope you had a Happy Monday, enjoying Labor Day. It has been crazy hot here! Summer is going out with a bang! My hubby and I went out for Mexican food. Yum!

  13. My Golden Life – Upstate South Carolina – I love animals, especially dogs. I enjoy US history, and reading biographies of our former presidents and other historical figures. I love the music of the '60s and '70s since I was growing up in those decades. I love the Beatles and Andy Williams equally.

    We are back inside – the Zs are asleep in front of the couch – after two 30-minute play sessions out in the yard while it was still cool enough to enjoy the fresh air. I just finished my lunch (mixed fruit with cottage cheese), so now it’s time to clean the hallway and back bedroom before I put the robot vacuum to work cleaning up dog hair in the hallway. Then either a play session here in the living room or a quick shower. The only good thing about this heat and humidity is it gives me an excuse to clean the inside of the house, one room at a time.

My passion has always been to create compelling stories of fiction. I have authored six novels and am working on my Seventh. The first novel is still in manuscript form and being utilized as a door stop in the laundry room. The second is a contemporary fiction novel of 89,000 words and is complete and I am currently seeking a publisher. I also write poetry but have not had the guts to share any with anyone.   18. We stayed home this weekend. We love being on the boat, but not on holiday weekends. All the drunks come out and we’re not into watching their antics. We’re going on a cruise next weekend.

Then transferred to Multiply...Mingflower went to Summerland & NYLABLUE my BluePoint Siamese/Burmese cross took over. When Multiply was closing a handful of our blogging friends recommended WordPress & we found a home here & made many new friends. Everyone followed the antics & struggles of NYLABLUE until her passing Nov. 22nd, 2014 to Summerland. A week later a little bouncing Burmese boy I met at a local adoption event joined me here! Dec. 9th, 2014. Purrince Siddhartha Henry came to live with me & regaled us with his journey towards 'Enlightenment'. He was a Burmese Buddhist with many health issues but he searched for meaning in his Life. After his lifelong struggle with Panleukopenia. Siddhartha Henry lost his battle & left for Pure Land August 28th, 2018. He was only 4 years & 1 month old. I've never totally gotten over the loss of my "Little Man". And this is where I get VERY serious. This Purrfect Pad blog is not all sunshine & roses. This blog is about REAL life with special needs cats who come into my life. We share our time together & we share the good, the bad & the ugly. This is a REAL blog. Yes we DO laugh & have fun & take Selfies! And we share each cat's struggles whether health issues or behavioural problems. And we share about my ongoing battle with 3 health conditions that can render me unable to walk plus having Cirrhosis of Liver & Seizures. We ask our friends & followers to respect that THE Purrfect Pad is anything but 'purrfect'. I am disabled & each of my cats' have had special needs. Washington gave his Atlanta address; Richard Olney, United States Secretary of State, expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in settling a boundary dispute between the United Kingdom and Venezuela; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for "gross indecency" under Britian's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When the news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted by the news of Oscar Wildes' imprisonment. It is chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing. Paulette Mahurin, the author, is a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Ojai, California with her husband Terry and their two dogs--- Max and Bella. She practices women's health in a rural clinic and writes in her spare time. All profits from her book are going to animal rescue, Santa Paula Animal Shelter, the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, CA, where she lives.   22. No problem staying cool at the Golden K where it’s been raining for two days with highs in the low 60’s. Like 30 degrees below average. Will try my best to take the day off and not Labor today. Wishing you and the ranch hands the same and a good week ahead.
