Monday Musings ~ May 18, 2026

Monday smileGood Monday morning greetings, peeps. Today’s smile pretty sums up what we’ll be dealing with this week. After experiencing 80+ degree temps last week, we are under another freeze watch in effect until tomorrow where the high may reach 49F (9.4C). Never let it be said the weather isn’t interesting in Colorado. The only downside to it are the dreary grey skies that resemble thick soup. In the immortal words of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow who wrote in a poem 1842, “Into each life some rain must fall.” But in the parched West, we’ll enjoy it while we can.

Wishing you a Happy Monday.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. We sure do. We need to keep our mittens next to the flip flops to be fully prepared. 🤣

  1. Oh, my, YES! Such true words. In this crazy weather one has to be prepared for all possibilities! We just went from snow showers to heavy winds and rain and chilliness, to a 90-degree day yesterday! We need all the supplies!

    1. I know, right!? What a crazy spring all over. I’m keeping my flip flops next to my mittens and umbrella!

  2. Mee-yow wee reelate to tis comick 150% purr ent Miss Monika an Wilson!!!

    1. It rained all day yesterday and is sprinkling a bit now. It didn’t get quite as cold as forecasted but chilly enough. I don’t think it reached 50F today. I have a sister on the east coast and she said it’s been brutally hot there. Super strange weather.

      1. Same heer Miss Monika…it went rom 40 F to 85 F inn THE blink of an eye!! Withe Hue-midex it felt like 99 F heer today. It iss still *hot* tonite….wee jsut want it to kewl off…..send SNOW!!! Pleese!

    1. It seems too hot for this time of year. I’ve noticed very high temps on the east coast. Seems very bizarre. Stay as cool as you can.

  3. It’s all about the moisture in Colorado. It doesn’t matter how much snow or rain we get, we always say we could’ve used that moisture.

    1. Most definitely. When you live in a mountain desert climate, moisture is always critical and with our severe drought ongoing, this is very welcome. The images being shared on social media have been beautiful but I know there are a lot of peeps who aren’t so keen on driving through it.

  4. That’s a perfect ‘toon for the weather these days……and that goes for almost EVERYWHERE! We had a freeze warning last week, 100 degree temps yesterday and later this week four days of rain with temps in the upper 60s/low 70s. BRING IT ON – we are on the “weather roller coaster” these days!!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

    1. Thanks. The weather seems universally weird, all over the world. 100 yesterday?? Yikes!! That seems way too extreme for May. May the rest of the week be calmer.

  5. Happy Monday! Perfect chuckle for today! We flip flopped with you. Was in the 40’s last week and got up to 95 today! CRAZY! 🤪

    1. Yikes!! 95? Ugh. Way too early for those kinds of temps. Hope it was a good Monday even if it was hot.

    1. They can join the rest of us confused souls. Nature is doing a number on us all! Hope it’s at least been a lovely Monday despite the crazy weather.

  6. That’s so true! Last week we had a frost warning, today we hit 90, and another frost warning is possible at the end of the week!

    1. Yeesh! Nature is going kinda nuts, isn’t she? Hope it’s been a good Monday and things will begin to level out soon.

    1. Thanks. When I found that comic I couldn’t help but laugh because it’s so true, especially the today where it’s only 43F after several days in the 80’s. We hope it’s been a fantastic Monday.

    1. Glad you liked it! This week, it’s 💯 true! Hope it’s been a great Monday day, Kate.

  7. We are so tired of this back and forth weather that started months ago in the winter. It was in the upper 80’s on the weekend and today we can’t make it to 60. Mom can’t get dressed as she never knows what to wear. It is not really the way weather should be. Have a good week anyway!

    1. It sure is crazy everywhere. I think layers is the only way too as even the you might not get it right. Hopefully you’ll still have a great week!

    1. It’s been a nice light rain most of the night and so far, all morning. Here in Drought Country USA, we call it paradise! Have a great week, John.

  8. Made me smile. Teeth showing by gosh! That’s what I said about where I am here in TN. BUT as of today we are officially into hot hot hot, humid to the nth degree and miserable.

    1. Ugh-sorry. We don’t do humidity. I don’t think I’ve seen this much rain since I lived in the Pacific Northwest and that’s been decades ago. It’s kind of weird needing an umbrella! Have a pawtastic Monday. Hope things begin to cool down soon.

  9. hahaha…. oh…. that’s very real here in our part of Colorado…. went to sleep in a too hot bedroom (can’t open windows due to noise here) and woke to 40 deg and drizzle., My poodle puppy doesn’t get why we’re not walking this morning. The back yard doesn’t seem adequate for some reason.
happy to have cooler temps so I can bake a loaf of bread

    1. It’s 💯true about Colorado. Wilson and I went for our walk but it was somewhat abbreviated. He wasn’t sure about the umbrella over him. Have a lovely and cool Monday. 😎

    1. That’s a good saying! I’m enjoying all the rain. But know in a couple of days the weeds will be knee high after being so well fertilized by the rain. 😊

  10. Hey Wilson, our blogging pals Giovanni and Gabriel live in Denver and they said the Brrrr Humbug came back. I hope the warm comes back soon for you, it’s hot, hot, hot here in South Carolina!

    1. Yup, it sure did. The mountain will be getting snow and we’re getting cold rain. But I’m not complaining. We need the moisture. But poor Wilson was that keen on his morning walk-he looks like a drenched sewer rat now, even with his rain gear and an umbrella. Have a swell Monday.

    1. We just have to be prepared for yo-yo weather, which is the new norm here in the Front Range. We hope you enjoy those 80’s while we’re enjoying a bit of moisture. Have yourselves a marvelous Monday.

  11. That’s a great meme. Your weather is certainly interesting. We’ve been in the mid 90s for a few days. Not welcome, at all. I hope you have a good week.

    1. Oh lordy…not ready for 90’s (we had one day like that in March!). That meme covers it all and trust me when I say we’ll likely experience it all today and tomorrow. LOL Have a wonderful Monday.

    1. Test received. Sometimes WP is slow to load comments. Sorry you’re having issues.

    1. Thanks, Marsha. Glad you liked it. The weather around here is often like that. Now more than ever. Hope you have a wonderful Monday!

    1. Ha! Twelve year old Tom is always welcomed here. Have a splendid Monday.

    1. So true. Some days one feels like an owl with their head swiveling round and round! Hope you have a wagnificent Monday.

  12. Mother Nature messes with us just to remind us she can. Hang in there, stay warm, and cool as the temps may dictate. Out here at The Golden K we’ve been dry and cool and now heading into warm and major weed whacking season. Leaves, pine needles, tall grasses, and pollund have been quite prolific this spring.

    Be well!

    1. Indeed. I’m sure the weed whacking season will start up in earnest after the rain. There may be fertilizer shortages around but Nature knows how to work around that with some nutritious rain. Happy Monday to you and the Golden Girls, Mike.

  13. Bwahahahahahaha. You described spring perfectly.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week. Love and hugs to you and lots of scritches to handsome Wilson. ♥

    1. Certainly crazy mixed up spring here. I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like this before. Thanks for the hook up, Sandee-you’re the best. Wilson and I wish you a ‘furbulous’ Monday!

    1. There a certain symmetry with the fact that weather is crazy all over the world. Stay as dry as you can. We’re going to need to find an umbrella for our walk. Have a great Monday!

  14. Here the rains have made a stuttering start…..went shopping on Friday wearing sandals, only to encounter a diluvial downpour in the supermarket car park! Will have to put my sensible shoes out to remind me to wear them!

    1. Oh gosh, those sudden storms can really make for an interesting day. I had to switch shoes for this morning’s constitutional with Wilson. My everyday shoes have deep lugs and hold on to moisture until they can ‘drain’ themselves all over the floor. I spent hours cleaning yesterday and would prefer not to have to mop again repeatedly all day long. Stay dry but have a wonderful Monday.

    1. For us, it covers everything that’s going to happen these next couple of days. Have a super Monday, Jacqui!

  15. it fits maryland’s weather forecast to a T as well.

wishing you good days for the coming week regardless the weather.

    1. Thanks, we live with the notion that everyday is a good day, some are just better than others. We desperately need the moisture so I won’t mind. Too much. After the 40th time of mopping the floors. LOL Happy Monday.
