Recently I read an article from Cesar Millan who was quoted as saying, “There’s a saying that goes, “If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.” That saying by the way, is incorrectly attributed to Lao Tzu for those keeping track of such things-even Cesar noted that. If you are interested on the history of that and other Lao Tzu misquotes, check out this website. 🙂
I’m guessing you could add to that last part…living with a dog. We certainly know that dogs bring us peace, joy and happiness. They ask for nothing in return and give everything of their soul. They don’t look back or forward, they just stay in the present. Some day I’m hope to be half as good as my dog thinks I am. Till then, I’ll try to keep it real in glorious Spring.
Live, love, bark! <3
I don’t think I can ever be the amazing person my dogs think I am, but I am trying to live in the present and not worry about the what ifs. Life is too short.
So true! I sometimes get caught up in issues of the past, or worries about the future; but I do try to embrace the present with lessons learned from my dogs. And it’s certainly easier to find peace when one is unencumbered by fears and regrets.
Perfectly timed for me thank you 🙂 I had a mini melt down and we are up and blogging at martythemanx2@wordpress.com now. I have centered myself as best I can with my sweet four legged kids and let the rest fall where it may!
Misery loves company sometimes 🙂 Know we’re all here for ya!
And our dogs definitely live in the present – their lives are certainly peaceful (and contented)!
🙂
They ask for nothing in return… Now, hold on a minute. I’ll grant they don’t speak up and specify their needs or provide a Power Point presentation complete with bullet points, but I can assure that our spoiled, wee Furbeastie does quite well at demanding special treats and treatment. It’s all worth it, of course,
We should all aspire to be the people our dogs think we are!
So true…I fall far short of the admiration I get from my boys here..and yes being in the moment is a wonderful way to live..and if that moment is with your dogs and cats then all the better 🙂 loves Fozziemum xxx
I so agree… and I hope I can learn something about easy living from Easy :o)
