It’s been just over a week since entering the retirement/work at home ranks and I’m just wondering out loud…where does the time go? Is it really “Hump Day?” Does time have any context when you work from home? Do days just magically morph from one to the next with no impact on which is which?
Do you think it’s made a difference in Sam’s life? Yeah, me neither. Here’s wishing you all good things today and everyday. Happy Hump Day!
Live, Love, Bark! <3
I can’t speak for retirement but I can speak about working from home. I work for myself and about 75% if my work time is in my home office. Days do seem to run together at times but a meeting or two at a client’s office – especially if the drive is long – seem to help regain context with the worlds. It’s so great to have my Golden Kali at my feet in my office most of the day. And to have the flexibility – most days – to give in to her brown eyes which are pleading with me to get out for a walk or play time. Which of course I easily succumb to.
Maybe if I start thinking of Sam’s sweet amber eyes as my new boss (‘please can I have a treat, please can I have a walk, please can you play with me,’ etc.), time will once again regain a hold over a reality of structure that will make sense. 😉
It took me a while to get used to retirement too; just find a way to relax every day and after a while you won’t have to try any more. As Kismet said, every day is Saturday.
Awww. How you doing? I have been with my dog Tula for many years now and I know how you feel. Just the other day you were running around and doing your job and now you are laying down in your dog bed thinking what happened. Tula feels the same way.
You are still a very sweet dog.
Oh, I think he looks pretty darn happy 🙂 Enjoy the new pace of life!
As a work-from-homer, the days tend to bleed together. But the commute is short and my office mates can’t be beat!
I have been “retired” and working from home for several years now. The answer is an unequivocal YES! You wake up and Monday, go to bed and then it is Friday! LOL!
…..slowing down can be difficult…
I’m discovering that but hoping I can learn to excel at it soon. ღ
Since retirement/work at home I often forget what day if is. I always make a to do list the night before or I would get nothing done.
There’s definitely some symmetry to working from a list-I’ll have to give that a shot! Thanks. 🙂
There are no Mondays and every day is Saturday.
Now that’s a concept I can wrap my head around! 🙂
I’ve found I do everything slower in retirement…. Grocery shopping, chores, spending time over coffee or lunch with a friend. I wonder how I ever got it all done before AND worked?! The gift of time 🙂 Enjoy!
😉
I hear you – it’s a strange feeling when days begin to run together and almost unnerving after years and years of the office grind. For the next couple months I suggest you allow yourself to simply kick back and enjoy. Eventually you’ll start to focus on goals and organizing stuff you’ve always wanted to accomplish and by then, trust me, you won’t even care what Hump Days are! 🙂
That adjustment from 60 to zero seems so incredibly foreign. Clearly I’ve been on the hamster wheel waaay too long. ღ
Glad time is flying by, enjoy your days!
I have worked from home for a few years now, and I will tell you, nearly EVERY DAY I wake up and ask my husband what day it is 🙂 DakotasDen
Oh gosh, I’ll be totally doomed if I have to ask what day is it! 😉
every day I wake up and think, what is the day of the week?? The concept of time changes, but there is so much more to be excited about after retirement, at least it was for me, that the days can be whimsical. Meaning, at my whim. LeeAnna
I like that analogy – whimsical to whim. 😉
From my own experience of retirement – there are no “here we go again” Mondays; no hump days; no “TGIF”s; no weekends; no Sundays; no deadlines; none of the work frustrations.
So what is there? 7 days of doing whatever you want. They all flow together as you throw yourself into your retirement interests. 7 days of potential productivity. I never knew how much I wanted to do until I retired. Now I don’t know how I ever managed with a full time job!
If retirement is morphing away the days, then let the morphing continue. I love it! 🙂
Thanks, Colin-I’ll keep that in mind. I can see this is gonna be a transitional period. 😉
Indeed yes …. but a wonderful transition it can be. Regrets? Absolutely. Should have retired earlier! 🙂
I can definitely relate to that one! 😉
that’s what I ask me too…someone hit the speed button on the clock :o) Happy Hump day to you :o)
It’s so different going from rush, rush, rush to hmm…what do I do now? LOL
