Better late than never, right? Sorry we’re late getting this published. This week’s offering is fairly slim/grim as it was doggone freezing and blanketed in snow, making picture taking impossible. I had to put my thinking cap on to share any nature pics that weren’t cold and/or white.
The day before the cold and white set in, I made a quick last minute visit down to my dad’s house with my oldest granddaughter who wanted to spend her day off with him. He was absolutely delighted to see her and hear all about her recent engagement. She brought one of her pooches, Marley, who is one of the most engaging pups around and loves to show off his repertoire of cute tricks. Everyone loves him and my 91-year old dad was no exception.

So let’s get to it, shall we? As I mentioned, I decided to spare you a(nother) post of snow pics (you’re welcome) which meant I had to dig deep into the photo archives for something else. Given that I visited my dad this week, I couldn’t help but share this tiny little blue bird I saw on a previous visit. Isn’t it totally adorable? It captivated me with its striking blue color since there’s nothing like them in the city. The image itself wasn’t all that great since it was photographed through the windows and I couldn’t risk disturbing him by going outside for an up close look.
I had originally thought of sharing some interesting shadow pics I have but then realized they had snow as well, so one little bird is all I can offer this week. Hopefully with a forecast of warmer temps beginning tomorrow, I’ll be able to do better next time.
Before we go, we want to remind you that it’s that time of year again (at least in the US) when we try to alter time change the clocks. Oh the plus side in the minds of many dogs and cats, dinner will be served an hour early, on the other hand, they’ll be losing an hour of beauty sleep this weekend. I hope the sunshine on Sunday is worth it. DST makes me crabbish and takes some time for my bio-rhythms to adjust. #bahhumbug

I remember way back when that the clocks didn’t change until the 3rd weekend of April and the 3rd weekend in October. Seems the Daylight Savings Time mode is longer now.

The bluebird of happiness… While it does take some adjusting, I am looking forward to the time change. And speaking of snow (which even appears in the meme today) we got a couple of inches overnight. Our first – and probably only – snow of the season. It’ll be gone by tomorrow. Have a great weekend!
Snow? In your region…whoa. I did try to keep snow references to a minimum-the dogs (well at least Norman, Elsa loves it) and I are pretty much over it. Me because I haven’t been able to teach either of them how to shovel. Here’s hoping you guys have a super weekend.

Aren’t those smiles fabulous? Bluebirds aren’t typical in Denver certainly. Blue jays can be found in the mountains but I’ve only seen a scant few of them. Enjoy your weekend.

Here, in Arizona, we are always on Standard time and we don’t fool with the clocks. We have to make mental adjustments for those who change. We’re on the same time as San Francisco in the summer and Denver in the winter.
The back and forth with multiple time zones sends me into orbit. This is one time I’d like to be in AZ (or Hawaii who also doesn’t switch). Then I realize AZ is a bit too warm for me. 🥵

Your Dad looks much younger than he is. My mom just got her 100 years full. That tiny blue bird is very cute. And then that summertime, we play with clocks and watches on the last Sunday of March.

The time change is just dumb. Different places in the world start and end at different times. And Hawaii, parts of Arizona and Indiana don’t participate in it. It does nothing but confuse and saves nothing.

Dad is quiet man, so that smile is doubly precious. His family means the world to him. Wish I had thought to video Marley (perhaps some other time 😉) but we were enjoying dad’s laughter too much. My mom would have just loved him performing on cue.

Glad you were able to dodge the snow bullet. ABQ is in a real banana belt. I know a lot of people enjoy DST but it makes no logical sense to me and disrupts more than it helps. Will hate waking up to the dark. Enjoy the weekend-think we’ll both welcome warmer temps in our areas.

The color was so striking. Yeah, my dad remains healthy, vibrant and active. He had been digging new post holes for a fence last week. He amazes me!
It’s how he keeps going….we have a neighbour in his nineties still working on his sugarcane and making sugar in his trapiche. He reckons if he had done as his family wanted and handed it over to his sons A…they would mess up his system and B..he would have died of boredom.
He sounds a lot like my dad! He makes sure he has something to do everyday now that mom’s gone. It helps to fill the day with something other than the loss.
