Monday Musings ~ January 27, 2025

We managed to survive the snow and relentless cold this weekend and hope you did as well. Our forecast for the last Monday of the month will see Mile High temperatures reach the mid-40’sF (7C). Woot! It’s still dark in the morning when we rise and will take longer to rectify that as I heard on the morning news we’re in the 10 hours a day range of sunshine. Today’s smile reminded me there’s one thing that remains constant no matter what time of year it is.

Monday smile - Wilson

Here’s wishing you have a ‘wagnificent’ Monday and an even better week. Let’s just hope the coffee kicks in to match my alarm clock.

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. Ha! I find that only slightly believable. I cannot imagine you ever snooze, bouncy boy.

  1. I’ve added multi-factor authentication to my WordPress account to keep bad guys out, but man is it a hassle to log in just to post comments. So assume that I love everything you’re posting, even if I’m not liking it. Um. You know what I mean.

    1. I sure do. Thanks for the heads up. It’s a toss up to go that route. Security or convenience-I hear ya. So aggravating we have to resort to such onerous strategies.

    1. They are the best alarm clock in the world-and always reliable with their wake up calls. Happy Monday!

    1. So true. And they never believed in that stupid Daylight Savings nonsense. BOL Here’s hoping you have a terrific week!

    1. They sure do love early mornings and can’t be sidetracked with that silly DST thing. LOL Happy Monday.

    1. It’s particularly true at our house. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Have a great week!

    1. Start a new day with…breakfast! The best meal of the day, that is until dinner, according to Wilson, the chow hound. LOL Happy Monday, Dan.

    1. Thank you-glad you like it. It’s one of the most truthful tenets of owning a dog, Terry. Happy Monday.

  2. I’ve got three rather patient alarm clocks, who don’t change with DST. I think they’re just too cozy in the bed with me in the morning until they hear their Dad open the fridge to get their food! Sweet picture.

    1. Thanks. Yes, patient but persistent alarm clocks. Some are more relentless than others, too. LOL Happy Monday.

    1. It’s a similar routine at the Ranch. Ranch Hands get taken care of first, then I can enjoy a nice quiet minute with a steaming cup of magic elixir. Have a great Monday, John!

  3. The perfect quote. I love that photo. It’s perfect.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week. Scritches to the pups and a hug to you. ♥

    1. Thanks, Sandee for the kind comment as well as linking us to your Monday post. You’re the best! Have a super duper Monday!

  4. Koda likes your description of her better than mine at 6:45 each morning! Glad to know you are in a warming trend. (40’s better than 30’s…, right?). We had a dusting of snow Saturday at The Golden K. One and done; that’s how I like ‘em. Have a warm week at The Ranch!

    1. Hahaha, well we do try to keep things PG rated around the Ranch though last week when Elsa woke me up to go outside at 3:49 am on a freezing night, I may have said a few HBO words. And then she didn’t even pee, but only wanted to snack on the fallen snow. The girl loves snow cones and tries to eat snow every time she’s outside, much to my chagrin. Yes, we’re looking forward to warmer temps this week. We all need to enjoy a nice walk in sunny conditions with clear blue skies. Have a great week, Mike! Ear scritches to the Golden Girls.

    1. The Ranch Hands are morning folk thankfully so am I. Must be something in the canine DNA that makes them that way. Course when you figure their lives are much shorter than ours, it makes sense. They want to spend as much of their time with their beloved humans doing things. 💙 Have a great Monday, Helen!

    1. It’s not as bad in the summer but when it’s freezing cold, it can be hard to leave those warm blankets. Have a great Monday, Kate.

    1. Oh yes, that sound is a guaranty to shoot up immediately and hope you’re on time before the rug gets soiled. 😉 Happy Monday.

  5. Teddy wakes me up at EXACTLY 3AM every morning. And there’s no saying NO so up I get. My sensible husband sleeps until 5:30-ish. Teddy knows I’m the “soft touch” ! We have a sunny day today and a high of ALMOST 50……I imagine we’ll have some more melting and we’re happy for that. It’s the first day we’ve ventured out into the countryside for a morning drive with hot chocolate and it was marvelous. Happy Monday – to you AND your alarm clock!

    Love, Pam and Teddy too

    1. Oh gosh, 3 AM? Guess I need to hug and kiss my Ranch Hands for waiting until 4:30 or 5. 🤣 Have a great Monday.

    1. Thank you, Jacqui. When it’s as cold as it has been, I sure would love for them to wait just a bit. It’s hard to get out of bed when the blankets are so warm and cozy. Happy Monday!

  6. Mom has always been a morning person and she finds it funny that dogs need to wake up their humans. She has to wake us up every morning as she likes to be up between 4:30 and 5. We stumble out of bed and downstairs to sleep some more before we have to pound pavement for an hour. We also love the dark morning walks as they are so peaceful. Kind of a military lifestyle, but we handle it fine. Have a great week.

    1. Like your mom, I’m an early riser too. Although on those winter mornings when it’s very cold, it’d be nice to stay in a warm bed just a bit longer to contemplate the day ahead under the warm blankets. We think early morning walks are the best of the day! Happy Monday.

    1. It’s a fact of life when you own a dog, that’s for sure. And I wouldn’t want it any other way. Happy Monday!

            1. These companion animals provide us with such joy and love. It’s hard when they have to leave for whatever reason. Tender thoughts my friend.

              1. And boy do they know how to be there when you need them. If not for Zeke, I might have had more trouble dealing with Mick’s death. But he was there and we took looooong walks in the cold winter and it just helped.

  7. Gracie is my alarm clock. Just wish I could set her for a little later rising time some days. And in the summer she is up with the sun. No sleeping in at all.

    1. A small price to pay for all the good things they provide us. But yeah…some mornings would be nice if they activated just a tad later. Happy Monday.
