We hope you survived the Fourth of July weekend. It was surprisingly quiet in our neighborhood for which we were grateful. I’m sure the high temps and wildfire smoke may have had something to do with it, although I know in various parts of the metro area, some stupid people were setting them off in crowded, dense neighborhoods. Obviously the heat melted any sense they may have had.
Anyway, we found a few smiles that indicate how hot it’s been. The forecast is calling for triple digits by the weekend and temps are expected to linger around the OMG level of hot for three or four consecutive days. Oh joy, I can hardly wait. On the plus side, autumn is scheduled to arrive in 78 days.

Stay cool, hydrated and keep smiling. Have a great Monday.
Live, love, bark! πΎ
Keep cool, Wilson, best you can. I am in tropical heat staying by the AC, and the thunder around here nearly undoes me everytime,
I live in central California. That’s summer here all the time. You made me laugh out loud.
I linked this post to Awww Mondays as always.
Have a fabulous day and week. Love and hugs to you and handsome Wilson. β₯
Hiding in. In closet [cat]. From booms. From heat. From just about everything, anything else. Tomorrow, tomorrow, sang Annie (that’s the humans name here) … it must be a better day?
So sorry the boomers impacted you, sweet June and mum. We hope the heat goes bye-bye soon. We’ll be singing Annie’s song all week. Have a good Monday.
Sharing with everyone on the East Coast and the Midwest.
π Hope they enjoy after their recent heat advisories. Happy Monday, Jacqui! Stay cool.
Yep, stay indoors! This would melt candles if we still lived in pioneer days.
Funny you should say that…I have two lanterns on my front porch and last week a candle in one of them completely melted and ran out on the step. I’ve had those lanterns for years and never had any candles in them melt before. It’s going to take a while to clear up the melted wax that dripped down the step. Hope your Monday is not a melting one.
Mom always says we are one day closer to winter which is our favorite time of year. Tired of the heat and humidity here and thankful the 4th is over as it was a horrible weekend around here with constant fireworks and all the trash/packaging on the streets.
We are so hoping we’ll have a decent winter this year and praying the El NiΓ±o kicks in soon. Sorry about the noise and trash. I never understood why people are so thoughtless about both. Here’s to a good Monday for you all.
Ugh, post fireworks the air quality here was horrendous all Sunday. The AQI was 295 indicating very hazardous for all. Starting to get toasty around here now.
Yikes…talk about stratospheric! That’s N95 mask wearing…at the minimum! Hope the heat moderates soon. I think this is going to be a challenging week of high temps but hope today is a good one.
Our temps were in the mid 90s during the day but the humidity wasnβt bad (hovered between 35 and 45% during the day) except in the morning and later evening.
As for the fireworksβ¦letβs just say that by 1 am I was ready to call the sheriffβs office. I took the Zs out for their bedtime bathroom break at about 8 oβclock so we wouldnβt have to put up with any noise. HA! Daylight didnβt stop these fools. Zoey was unfazed, though she did bark at a few of the louder ones. Poor Zen was visibly comfortable and stayed close to me the whole time. Once we came inside I turned on all the ceiling fans and the TVs. I put on the Netflix fireplace app and turned the volume up as far as I could stand it. That helped a lot, thankfully. I was surprised that we didnβt have as much last night as we did Saturday! It was relatively quiet last night. The Zs slept better but I didnβt much at all. Iβm surprised Iβm functioning right now.
So sorry you and the Z-kids had to endure the stress of the inconsiderate neighbors. We hope you can catch up on the lack of sleep today and can enjoy a peaceful Monday.
For once I am the one commiserating with friends suffering from high temperatures……
The planet is screaming at us and not enough people have heeded Nature’s message. We hope the temps begin to moderate soon. Shade is definitely our best friend this week, Helen. Along with a few iced beverages.
Our heat spell broke overnight with some very traumatic thunderstorms. It’s raining today (funny how you appreciate a rainy day when you haven’t had one for a while). Wishing the same for you!
Thanks, Kate. The monsoons hopefully will arrive in about two weeks π€πΌ Till then, I think drawn window coverings and shade will be way to spend most days. At least we don’t have the humidity you guys back east have. Hope it’s a lovely rainy Monday for you.
There is nothing like almost 100% humidity! Rain forest weather.
You have my deepest sympathies.
Love the memes for today! We just finished up at least five days of heat at 100 or more (before the heat index) and we are not fans. Some heavy storms arrived last night and brought temps down and gave the poor outdoor plants and critters some much needed water. I put out a bowl of water for the critters while it was so hot and dry. I’m sure it is overflowing this morning.
It’s gonna be a scorcher for several days so Wilson and I hit the trail this morning before 5 AM. It was interesting walking in the dark but necessary if we were going to get any exercise in. Wilson and I plan to hibernate during the daylight hours and just hope the power stays on (we had a outage just before midnight last night). Enjoy a respite in the heat and have a great Monday.
… hibernate during the daylight hours …
What a nice euphemism for day drinking! π
π It does haver a nice ring to it, doesn’t it. Guess I better go replenish my lime supply. Cheers for a terrific Monday.
We dropped into the 60s with rain today. Friday’s heat index was 125. 66 is much better. I like the 11:00 am to November alert.
60’s?! Oh gosh, I’m green with envy. Please enjoy it for me. Yeah I’m an eleven AM to November fan too. Heck, I’d even be willing to shovel the sidewalks at this point. Happy Monday, Dan.
You have my sympathies… Hot weather is hard as hell to endure (esp. if you are wearing a fur coat). Stay cool you two. π§π§π§
Thank you, Eliza. It’s too early in the season for triple digits which is why Wilson got groomed over the weekend. At least he has less fur to insulate him. Happy Monday.
