Furbulous Friday

It’s been a hectic week full of things to do. Luckily my own set of “Fifi’s” were around to save me at the end of the day. Finally it’s Friday and after yesterday’s 60+ degree weather, will be more seasonal with a smidge of drizzle. The forecast is calling for ‘slight snow’ tomorrow with a high of {gulp} 23. I’ve forgotten what 23 feels like! Hope you have a furbulous Friday and an even better weekend.

Ground Hog Friday

Today is Ground Hog Day where a certain pudgy rodent named Punxsutawney Phil from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania will predict whether Spring will be arriving early. Here’s a little background on this event celebrated in the U.S. and Canada, according to Wikipedia:

“A select group, called the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Inner Circle, takes care of Phil year-round and also plans the annual ceremony. Members of the Inner Circle are recognizable by their top hats and tuxedos. The Vice President of the Inner Circle prepares two scrolls in advance of the actual ceremony, one proclaiming six more weeks of winter and one proclaiming an early spring. At day break, on February 2, Punxsutawney Phil awakens from his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob, is helped to the top of the stump by his handlers, and explains to the President of the Inner Circle, in a language known as “Groundhogese”, whether or not he has seen his shadow. The President of the Inner Circle, the only person able to understand Groundhogese through his possession of an ancient acacia wood cane, then interprets Phil’s message, and directs the Vice President to read the proper scroll to the anxiously anticipating crowd gathered on Gobbler’s Knob and the masses of “phaithful phollowers” tuned in to live broadcasts around the world.”

Even though Phil is a rodent and not a meteorologist, when you’re dreaming of Springtime, it’s probably a fun diversion to take one’s mind off Winter thinking this way.

We’re predicting a pawsome weekend and hope yours is beyond grand.

Although we’ve been away taking care of unexpected family business the past few days, we didn’t want to miss our good friend, Friday. You did realize there are only ten days left to the big day, right? Yikes! Have a great Friday and an even better weekend. 🎄

Our favorite day has arrived and can I just say color me happy! Although time seems to be whizzing out of control toward Christmas, I’m starting to make a little bit of progress with the howli-day baking though Sam and Elsa keep staring at an empty treat jar hinting that I’m not as far along as I think. What about you? Any plans for the weekend?

Fab Friday

It’s finally Friday and I confess some of this week’s encounters had me thinking this exact thought. Are you ready for the weekend as much as I am? Got any special plans?

Friday has finally arrived and it seems some of us around the Ranch definitely need some R&R. Looks like winter is starting to appear around many areas of the US, thanks to a lovely Arctic cold front being delivered by from our northern Canadian friends. So while relaxing, the curly-haired Ninja stays warm by chasing sun puddles. She looks so innocent when she sleeps, doesn’t she? Are you doing anything exciting?

Weekend Reminder

Well folks, we made it to the end of the week  which means our friend Friday is here. Can I get a double woof, woof? In addition to Friday and the weekend, another visitor arrives, er rather falls back. Yup, regular time returns. I know, some of you will be moaning over lost daylight and yes, it’s unfortunate. But if you think about it, there’s a silver lining with this darkness. In less than 60 days the days will start getting a bit longer. Personally, I think it’s nature’s way to make winter weather more tolerable, but if you’re in one of those areas where the weather is pretty nice most of the year, good for you. For some of us, it’s the price we’re willing to pay to ‘enjoy’ 4 separate seasons. You know…the “good, the definitely outstanding, the meh and are-you-freakin’ kidding-me?!”

On the plus side, returning to regular time means an extra hour of sleep on Sunday and dinner an hour earlier for the pets. So focus on the bright side and don’t forget to ‘Fall Back’ Saturday night. And for heaven’s sake, please make it a great weekend!
