Summertime and the Living is Easy

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, today marks the longest day of the year and the official arrival of summer. Around our Ranch, summer seemed to arrive about six weeks earlier. Now after a few lovely springtime-like cooler days, we’re going to begin a warm up.

So today we think we’ll just kick back in the shade of a nice tree and maybe slurp a tasty lemonade this afternoon. What are your plans for the first ‘official’ of the solstice?

Live, love, bark! 🐾

  4. It hasn’t been that bad at all so far, butts tomorrow….90..Sat…100! geesh! Butts, it IS Summer, rights??! Sometimes I wish we could skip over the couple of months of deadly heat for the three other seasons! ☺ Ma is hoping it’s gonna be a ‘dry heat’ BOL! Stay chill guys!

  5. We’re still waiting for summer here. It might be here on paper but that’s about it! We get some warm days but as soon as that sun goes behind the trees, it starts to get chilly again!

  6. Well, our temps barely made it to 70 today and it has been raining. We need the rain, but it has meant a long day inside for us:( Mom says it is supposed to stop soon and we can celebrate the first day of summer with a long walk after dinner.

  7. Get up, put my heater on, go make coffee. Come back and Benji has curled up next to the heater Put on track suit and heavy jacket and get ready for morning walk. brrr………

  8. I actually planned a street nap, but the street was so hot, I sat down and jumped right up with a hot butt. Mom said, “Toldja!” So rude… But not to worry. I took a sidewalk nap. The white cement was cooler than the black asphalt.

  9. Lovely photograph!
Being nearer the equator I tend to forget the solstices…there is a difference in the day length over the year, but nothing extreme. But the tree and the lemonade sound good!

  10. First job of the morning–walk 2 dogs
Second thing–take 3 dogs to the dog park
Third–go to Lowes for the garden (complete fencing for keeping dogs away from cats, then pet store for food and flea supples
Fourth–close up house and turn on ac, and water garden, until iit cools down–around 8 pm, then unload car

  11. We’re having a heatwave this coming weekend, so we’re staying inside with the air conditioner. Looks like summer is here with a bang.

Have a woof woof day. My best to your peeps. ♥

  12. We are going to enjoy some backyard grilling later today and I will be making deviled eggs. We hope the summer thunderstorms have moved out.

  13. We’re at the beach this first day of Summer. The start of a short road trip! But the beach is cloudy, foggy and cold – 62 – until mid-afternoon. Yay! Ocean! Sand! Stinky dead sea creatures!

  14. We’ve been having some really hot days since last Saturday, with some high humidity to match. My brother said it was actually cooler at his house in The Keys in Tuesday than it was here in Taylors, SC! Oh well! It doesn’t seem to bother Ducky, but Shadow doesn’t like it any more than I do.

    Love the photo of Sam!

  15. That’s a great picture of Sam. Sounds like an ideal day. We too have had some very hot days already, but today is a little cooler. We’re hoping for some rain too, since we haven’t had any in about 3 weeks. Today….well, after cleaning some house, I will be ushering at our local minor league ballgame. Tippy is still keeping vigil to make sure the skunks stay put during the day.

  16. Here, the summer seems to have come early, too.
My plans for today: drive to SA for a routine eye-doc appointment. So, no really lazy time before late afternoon.
    Emjoy your day,
    Pit
