It may be April 95th but if the calendar is correct, it’s still Nature Friday which occurs even during the pandemic. So that must mean we’re joining our friends, Rosy and her brothers from LLB in Our Backyard (click on their link to see other posts from around Blogville) all the while maintaining social distancing. Pandemic or not, there’s still beautiful aspects of nature out there to enjoy virtually, right?
Today is a beautifully clear blue sky day (albeit with the windchill hovering at 16, quite chilly). The forecast though is calling for a high of 50F so the garden should get a nice cocktail from the melting.
After going from flowers to flakes (as in snowflakes) in a matter of hours, it snowed yesterday. Again. And what a storm! Officially the city was blanketed with a foot of heavy, wet snow though I think it’s more like 6-8 inches here at the Ranch. Early yesterday morning, the visibility was so limited, it was hard to distinguish where the roofline of my neighbor’s house ended and the sky began.
The flower scene really hasn’t changed much this past week but some of the chalk art has been impressive. If you follow us on Instagram (you do follow us, right?), you know I’ve posted images from along our daily walks and some very impressive chalk art has been showing up in the ‘hood. Many are created by people just trying to fill boredom during the pandemic, some are just there to inspire or make you smile. Either way, it’s been nice to see how neighbors continue to deal with the stay-at-home restrictions. Nature isn’t the only artist around.
Norman is hopeful today that the weekend offers more spring-like beauty with far more mileage than we experienced yesterday. What are your plans for the the weekend? Hopefully you can get out and enjoy some of the beauty nature offers this time of year. Without the white stuff, of course and at a safe distance.
Live, love, bark! 🐾
Look at all that snow. Norman you are so cute.
Good ole Springtime in the Rockies!
Thank goodness Mother Nature carries on in spite of the pandemic, even if she does bring unwanted snow! We had a beautiful Sunday and were able to get outside and get some things done and enjoy a walk where it wasn’t frigid or snow-covered! 🙂
Spring storms simply amaze me. They dump a bunch of the white stuff then leave almost as quickly as they arrive. And as if by magic, everything turns beautifully verdant.
That was a nice walkie talkie, Monika and Norman. It looks like the creativity comes out again on your streets…and how we like that pussycat😸Clean and Warm Pawkisses for a Happy Sunday. Stay Safe Heathy and Yourselfie🙏🐾😽💞
Someone must be a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog characters….
😁
Dog gone that snow❄️
When will Spring really spring into warm sunny naps under my favorite backyard tree?
💜nose nudges💜to you, Elsa & Norman 🐾
I really don’t mind spring storms. They come in quickly, dump a bunch of snow and leave just as quickly as they arrive. After two lovely days, 99% of it has melted. 😍
Wooftastic! It’s raining here which has washed almost all of that yucky cold white stuff away.
Sun please🌞
We’re very fortunate in that we get 300+ days of sunshine a year. Altitude has some advantages. 😉
That is wooftastic 🌞
Love your neighborhood sidewalk art!
It’s been fun seeing it, along with the teddy bears.
Yes, I have an alpaca teddy bear I got at that Overland store in Denver. Keep meaning to put it in a window!
This morning I saw a real cat sitting next to the bear. Too cute. Made me smile.
Awwww <3
It is much too late in the year for snow. We are praying for a warm up and a lot of melting.
Knowing full well we can receive snow even in May, I’ll be grateful for these storms as they fill local reservoirs. The good part about spring storms is they melt quickly. Very quickly. Most of the snow has melted, only areas in shade or northern exposure remain as of this morning. And another day of upper 50’s F. Woo-hoo!
The white-stuff has made its way all the way to New England. It’s supposed to fall for the next 15 hours, 🙁 let’s hope it’s not too much and doesn’t linger!
Yikes! Paws crossed for you. 🤞🏻🐾🤞🏻🐾
If you don’t look TOO close at that first picture, it looks like an alien ship or pod with alien thingies sticking up all around it.
For the weekend, I have four grooms and probably no walks with rain supposed to be coming in. (Yes, I’m a fair weather walker.) Give Norman and Elsa scritches and kisses from me.
Sounds like a busy weekend. Have fun with those grooms. Lets hope aliens avoid rainy climes 👽 🛸
Look at that snow!
We never really had an appreciable snow fall this year, as evidenced by the over abundance of “Clearance” sales with shovels, etc.
As for sidewalk art, I always think summer. It’s nice . . to think summer.
Norman really has a way with the camera.
Happy Weekend!
March and April are the snowy months. I suspect there’ll be more over the next few weeks-there alway is.
Yeah Norman is becoming quite the model. He always looks so earnest to me. Happy weekend!
Wowza.
He DOES look earnest, doesn’t he? He’s an earnest chap of the highest order. I think that’s a great way to describe him.
Happy Weekend!
Sweet and earnest…that’s my boy! Happy weekend to you. Quarantini hour begins soon. This week demands it!! 🍸
Oooooh, I like that. The Quarantini . . I might have to use that!
Feel free. Life this day and age demands a certain amount of ‘fortification.’ 😇
Preach sistah, preach! 🙂
More like drink, sistah, drink! 🥃🍷🍸🍹🍺 LOL
Clink! 🍸 Clink!
Cin cin!
Salud!

***purrsss*** BellaDharma
It’s quickly melting here. Probably will be all melted…just in time for the next storm. 😆
Sidewalk chalk art could be a load of fun and be a great release to being isolated. Let your creativity shine!
Norman I am hoping for nice weather to go for a walk. Spending too much time indoors. 🐾🐾🐾
We were able to take a nice long walk this morning-much needed by me and the pups! Hope you get at least one in this weekend, too.
Thanks!! 💕
Sounds like Winter wanted one last hurrah, hopefully Spring will take hold soon!!
What wonderful sidewalk art!!
xoxo,
Rosy, Jakey & Arty
Winter will, no doubt, be hurrah-ing it for a few more weeks.
We were very happy to send that storm your way; it was the proverbial frog strangler here in Socal. I think it’s going to be an interesting Spring. As the temps rise and people remain restricted in their outdoor activities I foresee a massive wildlife renaissance in urban and suburban areas as well as rural and remote spots. That probably means a mixed bag of problems such as more coyotes and squirrels (!) but it might also lead to many more birds and critters in the parks.
Umm, thank you? Although the garden is sure slurping it up.
This is the best time of year weather-wise in Arizona. Nobody is enjoying it. We’re used to basking in the bleachers of a spring training game and then have the roof open at the ball park by now.
Kiss those days goodbye. At least for the foreseeable future.
brrrrrrrrrrr cold!
Stay warm and healthy, and enjoy your weekend,
Pit
It’s quite lovely outside now; even had to remove my gloves for half of our morning walk.
Mary would like that weather.
It’s super walking weather. The sidewalks aren’t great, but walking in the street isn’t bad when there aren’t too many cars.
Enjoy! 🙂
The ONLY good thing about April snow is it doesn’t hang around for too long and it nourishes the land.
Lovely chalk art, I haven’t really seen any in my ‘hood… 🙁
Have a fantabulous weekend! Will you be watching the concert tomorrow night?
This is the time of year where most of our reservoirs fill up, always a good thing in this arid desert mountain area. I had forgotten about the concert but will try to check it out-thanks for the reminder!
I can well imagine it is a good thing.
I don’t even know if I’ll will be watching but will try to remember!
It’s not like there’s a lot on my calendar these days beyond mindless TV; a concert might be a good way to pass a few minutes. Song is good for the heart and soul.
This is true. Usually reserve Friday or Saturday night for movie night… shall have to see. Maybe we’ll watch the concert instead.
Wow, that’s a lot of snow. i know Norman is looking for some nicer weather so he can go for a proper walk. Elsa too.
Have a woof woof day. My best to your wonderful mom. ♥
Elsa loves loping through deep snow, Norman, yeah…not so much. Unless he is leaving a brown deposit in which case, it must be the deepest snow on the block. 🙄
I LOVE the chalk art! It has shown up in our neighborhood, too.
Do you guys have bear hunts? There are lots of teddy bears in windows, waiting to be spotted.
PS — I understand that in the middle of the storm (not the final tally, mind), Boulder recorded it’s snowiest winter EVER. Jus’ sayin’.
So THAT’S what’s going on! I was walking my Zeke and came upon a tree wrapped in rainbow ribbons and a teddy bear was tucked in at the joint of two limbs… such a lovely sight.
Teddys have been displayed in windows all over the world to remind people on a social-distancing-approved scavenger hunt as they venture outdoors. Between teddys and the chalk art, it makes for more hopeful and inspiring outings.
I guess I just wasn’t lucky enough to find any until yesterday.
It is a beautiful thing, for sure.
They’re popping up more as the stay at home restrictions are in place. You’ll probably be noticing them everywhere.
Thank goodness! In the sense that more are respecting the rules!
Some are, others still need a subtle reminder on the head. With a hammer!
Seriously! I’d like to lock up some of them…
Oh yes, bears everywhere. I even drug out a couple I’ve had for years to display in the window. Saw one earlier this week that has to be the size of a Chevy! It took up the entire front window.
The battle between winter and spring is going on everywhere. The first photo ia amazingly beautiful!
There’s nothing like a blue sky after a snow storm blows through here. It always makes me smile.
A lot of snow for sure. The garden is going to like that. Happy Weekend.
Yes, once it recovers from the shock. The lupine were beginning to leaf out.
I know right?
That much snow now would take me over the edge! Hopefully it will quickly melt and be a distant memory. Hope the pups can get out for a romp.
April is one of our snowiest months. It’s just another day in the hood for the ‘natives.’ We’ve had snow the week of Mother’s Day for the past 4 years.
Yes, my husband was there for one of the mother day snows. He was not a happy camper. You get used to it and you have a lot of great weather too.
The dry air is wonderful for sinuses. Humidity and I are not friendly.
Oddly enough my hair loves humidity and is better in the summer.
Mine gets wavier in humidity and there’s a very fine line between wave and frizz on humid days. 😂
love the boardwalk art ;O) and we wish you a super spring weekend so Norman can walk through the sunshine while enjoying all the fab nature!
He most definitely enjoyed this morning’s walk except when his mum nearly crashed and burned on ice. He looked at me like “what’s that all about?”
GAH! Too much snow! But the chalk art makes it cheerful, anyway.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
It’s that time of year where we pretty much expect snow. Luckily it melts quickly.
yes, cold today. Glad to see the sun sparkling on the thick snow though. Norman is so content to live at the ranch with you. He’s adapted to the camera quickly and bet he’s happy to be in a soft place
Nice and warm now-had to remove my gloves on the last half of our morning walk and unzip the coat as it got way too toasty. Norman is the most unflappable dog I’ve ever seen-he has adapted quite well to his surroundings.
We’re with you Norman…….Spring should be springing everywhere so let’s hope the cold and snow fly away and bring sun and fun right? Right!
Hugs, Teddy
