Monday Musings ~ August 8, 2022

Today is International Cat Day where cats of all stripes are celebrated every August 8. Created in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, it is a day to raise awareness for cats and learn about ways to help and protect them.

Angus the cat

So in honor of International Cat Day, the Ranch Hands thought it appropriate that I share a pic of my neph-mew, Angus, one of the most interesting cats I’ve ever known. He is one fascinating and handsome Maine Coon kitty.

Here’s your smile in honor of International Cat Day. Make it a great week.

    1. Thank you…he’s really something. I’m looking forward to visiting with him again soon. Hope your kitties had a good International Cat Day 😻

  1. Charlee: “We can’t believe International Cat Day came and went and Mama and Dada didn’t throw us a party or get us a card or anything.”
Chaplin: “They are SO going to find hairballs in their shoes tomorrow morning.”

    1. They try. On occasion 🤣 Angus is one of the coolest cats around. I think he thinks he’s a dog sometimes. 😁

  2. BOL on that great cartoon! No, seriously, we’re all barking out loud at all the cats!
Maine Coons really are a special breed, and can grow quite large.
    BTW, got the package. Thanks!

    1. That cartoon gave me a chuckle too. Glad the package arrived. As always, thanks!

    1. He is a beauty, that’s for sure. And so freaking self-assured. LOL Have a great week!

  3. A shout-out to all the cool cats out there. My cat (who was most appropriately named Cat…I’m not kidding) was part aloof and part snuggle buddy. Of course, that depended on HIS mood, not mine. Angus makes a wonderful spokes-cat for Cat Day ’22.

    1. He’s quite the independent dude (as I suspect most if not all cats are). And he totally acts like a dog a fair amount which makes him very interesting. Happy Monday!

    1. He is one of the most interesting and handsomest cats I’ve ever met and acts more like a dog!

    1. I wasn’t familiar with Maine Coons-they sure are interesting (and the biggest of the cat breeds I discovered). They are one BIG breed.

  4. In Shepherdstonw/WV we saw 3 VERY young kitties on the lawn under our balcony. They were maybe 2 weeks old and thier mother was no longer there. One of the housekeppers promised to give them some food, but maybe they were too young still and depended on their mother’s milk still. Unfortunately, one of them died. But the other two were taken care of by that same housekeepr. She took them home. So, hopefully, they can enjoy International Cat Day in a good home.

  5. A day to celebrate all the fabulous kitties out there. Your neph-mew Angus is most handsome.

Love the cartoon. I laughed out loud. Badass indeed.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. Scritches to the pups, a smooch to Norman and a big hug to you. ♥

    1. Thanks for the link, Sandee. I’m allergic to most cats, but Angus seems to be one my body will tolerate. He’s quite the looker, isn’t he? I was so intrigued with his whiskers! Happy Monday.

    1. Yes, we hope more people become familiar with cats through this educational day on the calendar. Happy Monday.

    1. Elsa’s prey drive also kicks in seriously around the ‘c’ word. I think Norman is mostly cool around cats except the one that attacked him when he went sniffing the bush it was hiding in. It did not bode well for any of us-both Norman and I received the pointing end of some serious fangs and claws.

        1. Heh, heh! She’s a silent, but dogged huntress. Teamwork with a pack might be a problem (she hasn’t figured out it’s better to split duties for success yet).

    1. Angus is one of the coolest cats around-so naturally he had to be today’s poster child for today! Happy Monday.

    1. It cracked me up-I know a few cat parents who use the squirt bottle deterrent. Some respond better to it than others. 😹

            1. I guess I didn’t realize you had a daughter, I only thought you had sons. Where have I been?? 😳

              1. Oh, darlin’… Not your fault… I DID have only sons. The youngest is in the process of transforming into a daughter…

                    1. I can imagine. Good thing your in Canada-hopefully it’s easier than in the lower 48. And don’t get me started about Florida.
