Monday Musings ~ May 20, 2024

It’s Monday. Again. Gosh, how is that even possible? We hope you had a wonderful weekend. At any rate, it was one of those perfect weekend’s where the weather was near perfect, the garden received a lot of attention and yesterday, a certain special someone, received a lot of attention when I went to visit with the newest family member who continues to captivate my heart and who is growing like a little weed. I know I’m biased, but she seems to get cuter every time I visit. Luckily, it’s a good thing dog barking doesn’t seem to bother her too much while her canine protectors continue to monitor her well-being and alert the entire household of any perceived sketchy visitors or passersby. Lucky for her, there aren’t any smart-alecky squirrels in her apartment complex. And as insurance, I bring a pocket full of tasty treats to quell any racket quickly.

Monday smile

We hope you have a fabulous Monday and aren’t faced with any life conundrums like Mr. Ruffles. Happy Monday!

Live, love, bark! 🐾

    1. Thanks Marco. Every time I see her, I’m just completely mesmerized. Yes, Mr. Ruffles (and Wilson too) know the struggle is real when it comes to dealing with those vile hoodlums. Best wishes for a great weekend.

      1. I bet! She’s a beautiful little lady, how could you not be?

They are a menace to society. The society of Mr. Ruffles and Wilson, LOL.

        Happy weekend to you

        1. Thanks. I’m definitely smitten. There are waaay too many squirrels in this world, figuratively and actually. I think they’re the reason societal life is so messed up. 😉

    1. Trust me, it’s a real struggle when you’re trying to be a good dog and a squirrel comes into view. Awk!

  1. Hello
I just wanted to stop by and thank you for visiting us, and your words of condolence. It was very appreciated. And how nice to see other therapy dogs blogging!

    1. It’s heartbreaking when our beloved pets earned their wings, but it’s really hard when they’re a pet therapy dog. When you’ve shared intense moments, it’s even harder. I’m so very sorry for your loss…I know what you’re going through. Know we’re sending loads of tender thoughts of comfort and peace. ❤️‍🩹

    1. Thanks. I thought so too. Wilson continues to struggle with the tree rats who seem quite determined to make his life complicated. They’re such hoodlums and don’t even disguise their contempt for big dogs and their jaws. #monsters

            1. Me neither. Apart from taunting the dogs, they’ve chewed through my kitchen window screens on 3 separate occasions. They are at the top of the short list of foul creatures!

  2. Love the cartoon! Babies change so quickly – it’s wonderful you can visit often to see every little thing as she grows and “blossoms” !!!!

    Hugs, Pam

    1. I can’t tell you how grateful I am that this little miracle is close enough for me to visit every week. Today she turns 6 weeks old and I’m pinching myself-can’t believe it. It’s so very cool watching her grow and see expressions starting to form into gorgeous blooms. 😉

    1. As your pups can agree, it would be a terrible choice to make. Squirrels turn dogs into maniacs when they are otherwise very good dogs, don’t they, Wilson? 😆

  3. Stumbled across your post on the WordPress feed and just wanted to send a friendly shout-out! Your content caught my attention, and I’m excited to explore more of your captivating posts. Although I couldn’t locate the follow button (haha!) , I’ll definitely keep it in my reading list! Rest assured, I’ll Spin8: keep an eye out for your future posts.

Looking forward to embarking on this reading adventure with you!

    Warm regards,

    Thanks – TheDogGod pomeranianpuppies.uk

    1. So glad you enjoyed this week’s smile. It cracked me up since Wilson can totally relate. Having that sweet baby live fairly close by is such a wonderful gift for the family.

  4. Had a busy weekend and spent most of the time with Annabell. She has settled in to Yeltana and she is well looked after by the staff there – all fairly young and dedicated to what they do. At least, that’s my impression. Good news though – it rained yesterday!! Been that long I had forgotten what rain feels like. Didn’t last long.– Oh, that cartoon is just cruel :o)

    1. With your schedule and getting Annabell situated, I’m very appreciative of you leaving a comment, John. Thank you. It’s been threatening a shower but so far, nothing but so far, only clouds. I’d love a good soaking.

When I found that cartoon, I couldn’t help but think of Wilson’s dilemma. That sensitive boy responds to video sounds of babies and various critters like no other dog I’ve ever had. When he meets the new grand baby, I’m sure he’ll be ever attentive. Whoa to any squirrel that might show up. 😂

    1. It’s those clever ones that are especially beloved. Thanks for stopping by Terry. Happy Monday.

    1. The struggle is real, I’m telling ya.
      Your fur-iend,
      Wilson, the House Pony 🐾

  5. Super cartoon. Poor Mr. Ruffles. I think it is great that you live close enough to see the baby on a relatively frequent basis. Hope your week is terrific.

    1. It’s a dilemma Wilson faces several times a day (even when not visiting the baby). Squirrels just wind him up.

Have a super week, John and Happy Monday!

    1. Wilson is keenly aware of that dilemma. He’s very aware of baby cooing on videos and noticeably responds to them with head cocking and sniffing at the laptop. It’s pretty funny to see him doing that. Happy Monday!

  6. Congrats to all for your latest extended pack member. And yes, quite the conundrum with sleeping baby and taunting squirrel. As loving and protective as Kloe is with our grandchildren I’m pretty sure it would all bets off and there would be a crying baby but one less nasty vermin. Hand a good week at the ranch.

    1. Thanks, Mike. Happy Monday. It’s funny because whenever the parents text me a video with her cooing, Wilson comes over and cocks his head at the screen and sniffing. He seems to know there’s a baby there somewhere. We continue to work on not turning me into a kite every time he sees a squirrel with mixed results. On the plus side, I’m developing Popeye arms. 😆

        1. They likely do. Too bad they forget when there’s a squirrel in view 😆

  7. I love that comic so much. I definitely believe some of the squirrels in our area would be this devious…if they’d just stop running around long enough to act as such. Tick-tock…and the “little weed” just grew some more!…Happy Monday, Monika!

    1. Wilson can attest, the conflict/struggle is real. Happy Monday to you as well, Bruce.

  8. Babies are so precious aren’t they? They are even more precious when their in our family.

I love the cartoon. It’s perfect.

I linked this post to Awww Mondays as usual.

Have a fabulous day and week, my friend. A hug to you and scritches to the pups. ♥

    1. You’re always very kind to link us to your terrific Monday blog. Thank you! Yes, babies are so precious; I’m always in awe whenever I see her. Happy Monday, Sandee.

    1. Thanks, Eliza. Glad you enjoyed today’s smile. Wishing you a great Monday and week.

  9. Yes! At this time of year not receiving snow is a bonus (though a little moisture is never rejected around here). Have a super Monday, Kate. We hope the contractors finish up their work quickly and peace can reign once again. Probably about the time the bath reno is complete. 😉

    1. {Snicker} Sometimes having to make those decisions is hard on a very sensitive soul. Happy Monday right back to you, Kymber!

  10. You’ve had a great time…gardening is one thing, but there’s a certain little weed you are going to cherish.

    1. Most assuredly! She gets cuter every time I see her. Happy Monday, Helen.

  11. Sounds like a perfect weekend. Our weekend was drizzly and getting humid. Not complaining though. It’s not snow! Right now for us the best thing about weekends is that there are NO CONTRACTORS here. Now it’s Monday and the crew is back on site. It’s conflicting.
